This page lists all the 2025 NFL Signings for the Las Vegas Raiders. I’ve listed all of the NFL Free Agent Signing Grades here, which included the Signings. Because I’ve begun posting polls for the Signings, I thought it would make sense to list just the NFL Signings here, so archiving the voting would be easier.

April 2025 – Signings
Raiders extend QB Geno Smith (2 years, $85.5 million): C- Grade
signed on 4/3/2025
The Raiders’ trade of Geno Smith was bizarre, and so is this contract extension. Geno Smith will be getting $66.5 million guaranteed on this 2-year deal for some reason.
Stat geeks may scoff at this grade because Smith looks good in the metrics, but part of that is what he’s been able to accomplish in garbage time. He’s also had at least two excellent receivers at his disposal every year in Seattle. Smith, now 35, won’t be as good in Las Vegas, which makes this extension seem very dubious. Frankly, I don’t know what the Raiders are doing with Smith. They need to rebuild rather than attempt a playoff push with an old, mediocre quarterback.

March 2025 – Signings
Raiders sign RB Raheem Mostert (1 year, $2.1 million): B Grade
signed on 3/13/2025
It’s possible that this could be Raheem Mostert’s final season in the NFL. Mostert is 33, and he looked washed up for Miami last year. It makes sense that he would get another opportunity, but he won’t be anything more than the No. 2 runner in Las Vegas, if that. Still, for a team with no running game, the Raiders could have done worse than signing Mostert to a cheap, 1-year contract.

Raiders sign CB Eric Stokes (1 year, $4 million): B- Grade
signed on 3/11/2025
Like Devin Bush – see the grade below – Eric Stokes is a former first-round bust. The difference is that unlike Bush, Stokes hasn’t displayed any positivity. He struggled last year and was benched in October. However, he’s still young and has potential as a result, which would explain this signing. There’s no downside, so it’s tough to hate it.

Raiders sign LB Elandon Roberts (1 year, $3 million): B+ Grade
signed on 3/10/2025
Elandon Roberts is a two-down player who thrives in run support, but struggles in coverage. That’s perfectly fine for the Raiders, given their need and the contract they gave to Roberts. This is a quality signing, as Roberts will be an important early-down role player in their defense despite being signed very cheaply.

Raiders re-sign C Malcolm Koonce (1 year, $12 million): A+ Grade
signed on 3/10/2025
Malcolm Koonce may not be a household name like Maxx Crosby or Christian Wilkins, but he’s a talented edge rusher. He was sorely missed last year when he tore his ACL in practice prior to the start of the season. It’s unclear if Koonce can fully bounce back in 2025, but given that he tore his ACL early in the season, he has a chance to rebound. I love 1-year “prove it” deals like this, as the Raiders will be getting Koonce at 100-percent effort.

Raiders sign S Jeremy Chinn (2 years, $16 million): A Grade
signed on 3/10/2025
I haven’t liked everything the Raiders have done this offseason. OK, let’s face it, I haven’t liked anything they’ve done. However, this seems like a very good move. Jeremy Chinn is coming off a solid season. He was stout in run support and covered well. He’ll provide an upgrade at a position that has been a weakness for the Raiders for quite a while.

Raiders sign DT Adam Butler (3 years, $16.5 million): C Grade
signed on 3/9/2025
It’s always strange to see mediocre players in their 30s sign deals for three years or more, but that’s the case with this move. Adam Butler inked a contract to remain with the Raiders worth more than $5 million per season.
Butler is a fine player, so I can understand why the Raiders would keep him. He’s a liability against the run, but he can produce a solid pass rush; he has six sacks in each of the past two seasons. However, Butler is 31, so he’s on the verge of declining, so I’m not a big fan of this lengthy deal for him.

Raiders re-sign DE Maxx Crosby (3 years, $106.5 million): A- Grade
signed on 3/5/2025
There was some chatter that Maxx Crosby could be on the move this offseason, but the Raiders have put those rumors to rest by giving their All-Pro edge rusher a massive contract. Crosby, in the wake of this deal, will be the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history.
Sometimes you see very good, but not great players sign colossal deals like this. Crosby is one of those great players. In fact, it could be argued that he’s the best defender in the NFL. He’s also just 27, so he’ll be able to play the duration of this contract on an All-Pro level. The Raiders had to retain Crosby, so they must be graded highly for it. This grade, however, won’t be an “A” because it’s not any sort of bargain.

Raiders sign G Alex Cappa (2 years, $11 million): B Grade
signed on 3/5/2025
That was fast. Alex Cappa was released just the other day, yet he was scooped up quickly by the Raiders.
Cappa was once a talented guard, but he’s regressed rapidly in recent seasons. He was downright awful in 2024. However, he’s 30, so he could have a rebound season. Given that the Raiders have severe offensive line issues, I like that they’re taking a shot on Cappa even though it may not work.
