This page lists all the 2025 NFL Signings for the Miami Dolphins. I’ve listed all of the NFL Free Agent Signing Grades here, which included the Signings. Because I’ve begun posting polls for the Signings, I thought it would make sense to list just the NFL Signings here, so archiving the voting would be easier.

March 2025 – Signings
Dolphins sign CB Artie Burns (1 year, $1.35 million): C Grade
signed on 3/26/2025
It’s hard to believe that Artie Burns was once a first-round pick. He has been one of the worst cornerbacks who have seen playing time in the NFL in recent years. In fact, Pittsburgh fans came up with a nickname for him : “Artie Gets Burned.”
This signing can’t be graded in the F/Millen range because it’s a very cheap deal that won’t hurt the Dolphins if it doesn’t pan out. However, Miami seems to be wasting time and money with this acquisition. It’d be one thing if Burns were still young, but he turns 30 in May.

Dolphins sign RB Alexander Mattison (1 year, $1.17 million): C Grade
signed on 3/24/2025
This is much like the A.J. Dillon signing, which I graded right underneath this one. Alexander Mattison, like Dillon, is a has-been who hasn’t performed well in years. He once appeared to have a bright future when he spelled Dalvin Cook, but he has faded quickly. Mattison has struggled in recent years, though I’d prefer him to Dillon because he’s not nearly as injury-prone.

Dolphins re-sign LB Tyrel Dodson (2 years, $8.25 million): B+ Grade
signed on 3/12/2025
Most linebackers who sign deals like this are two-down players who thrive against the run and struggle in coverage. Tyrel Dodson is the opposite. Dodson excels in coverage, but happens to be a big liability in run support. This contract makes sense for Dodson, who can continue to play in sub packages at a cheap price.

Dolphins sign WR Nick Westbrook-Ikhine (2 years, $6.5 million): A Grade
signed on 3/11/2025
I’m surprised that in this receiver-inflated market that Nick Westbrook-Ikhine didn’t earn more money this offseason. Not that I believe he deserved it, but because he had so many touchdowns last year. I love this depth signing at a cheap price, given that Tyreek Hill has hinted at leaving Miami.

Dolphins sign S Ifeatu Melifonwu (1 year, $4 million): A+ Grade
signed on 3/11/2025
It didn’t take the Dolphins very long to replace Jevon Holland. They did so by signing former Lions safety Ifeatu Melifonwu to a 1-year “prove it” deal worth just $4 million.
Melifonwu isn’t as great as Holland, but he’s still a very good player. He’s signing this sort of a contract because he missed most of 2024 due to injury, but he was excellent in 2023. This is an amazing signing that has no risk and offers nothing but upside.

Dolphins sign G James Daniels (3 years, $24 million): A+ Grade
signed on 3/10/2025
Tua Tagovailoa and De’Von Achane have to be thrilled right now. The blocking in front of them was putrid last year, particularly in the interior. Miami’s guard-center-guard combo was the worst in the conference.
James Daniels will make sure that won’t be the case again. He’s one of the better interior linemen in the NFL, so he’ll provide a massive upgrade. It must be noted that he’s coming off a torn Achilles, but he suffered that injury early in the season, so he should be good to go to open the 2025 season.

Dolphins sign QB Zach Wilson (1 year, $6 million): C Grade
signed on 3/10/2025
This is the opposite of what the Dolphins need. Tua Tagovailoa is often concussed, so the Dolphins had to find a reliable veteran backup. Zach Wilson has plenty of potential, but he’s not reliable at all because he’s still an unfinished product.
I’d feel better about this signing for the Dolphins if they had a head coach who could develop quarterback talent. Mike McDaniel has proven to be incompetent in this regard, as we all saw last year when he was completely overwhelmed in the wake of Tagovailoa’s injury. Wilson should have gone to a team with a better offensive-minded coach.
