2025 NFL Signings Graded by Team: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

This page lists all the 2025 NFL Signings for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I’ve listed all of the NFL Free Agent Signing Grades here, which included the Signings. Because I’ve begun posting polls for the Signings, I thought it would make sense to list just the NFL Signings here, so archiving the voting would be easier.

March 2025 – Signings

Buccaneers sign LB Anthony Walker (1 year, $1.42 million): A- Grade
signed on 3/26/2025

The Buccaneers need to do some work with their linebacking corps in the draft. Lavnte David has returned, but he’s 35 and could either decline or retire soon. Devin White, meanwhile, has been missed. An early selection should be used on a linebacker, but if all the players at the position Tampa Bay covets are off the board, the team will at least have Anthony Walker as an insurance policy.

Walker is a good player. He’s 30, so he’ll be regressing as well, but his main issue is staying healthy. He’s effective while on the field, but he’s missed a lot of time over the years.

Buccaneers re-sign DE/OLB Anthony Nelson (2 years, $10 million): B Grade
signed on 3/11/2025

The Buccaneers were top 10 in pressure rate last year, but they blitzed at a very high frequency. They already signed Haason Reddick to ensure that their pass rush improves. Retaining Anthony Nelson will help as well. Nelson is a solid rotational edge rusher who has accumulated 17.5 sacks in the past four years. He’s quality depth, so this re-signing makes sense.

Buccaneers sign DE Haason Reddick (1 year, $14 million): A+ Grade
signed on 3/10/2025

Tom Brady was obviously one reason the Buccaneers won the Super Bowl four years ago. Another was the dynamic pass rush. The Buccaneers generated a ton of heat on opposing quarterbacks, but that diminished recently. This is an obvious strategy to counter that regression.

Jets fans may scoff at this signing after Haason Reddick held out and slacked off last year. However, Reddick is an extremely talented edge player who will be a major upgrade for the Buccaneers. There isn’t much risk with this signing either, given that it’s for only one season, so I love this move.

Buccaneers re-sign WR Chris Godwin (3 years, $66 million): B+ Grade
signed on 3/10/2025

I thought that Chris Godwin would follow Liam Coen and sign with the Jaguars to replace Christian Kirk. Instead, he’ll remain in Tampa Bay with this 3-year, $66 million contract.

Godwin was a big producer last year until he broke his ankle. Given the nature of the injury, he should be 100 percent to start 2025. There’s some slight concern with his age (29) in relation to the length of this deal, but it’s probably not any sort of issue.

Buccaneers re-sign G Ben Bredeson (3 years, $22 million): D- Grade
signed on 3/10/2025

I don’t understand this contract. I’m all for offensive line continuity, but when there’s a weak link in the group, he should be upgraded.

Ben Bredeson has been the weak link for the Buccaneers. He struggles equally in pass protection and run blocking. He’s a backup at best, so there’s no reason he should have gotten this sort of a contract.

Buccaneers re-sign LB Lavonte David (1 year, $10 million): A Grade
signed on 3/7/2025

Lavonte David has become the new Brett Favre in that it’s always an annual process of whether or not he’s going to retire. Ed Werder isn’t quite sneaking through David’s bushes though, so there is a bit of a difference.

David will be returning to the Buccaneers for at least one more year. The long-time Buccaneer great isn’t the elite linebacker he once was, but he’s still a very well-rounded player and an important person in the locker room. At 35, David’s talents could diminish without notice, but this is a 1-year deal, so there aren’t any major long-term ramifications from this deal.
