2025 NFL Signings Graded by Team: New York Giants

This page lists all the 2025 NFL Signings for the New York Giants. I’ve listed all of the NFL Free Agent Signing Grades here, which included the Signings. Because I’ve begun posting polls for the Signings, I thought it would make sense to list just the NFL Signings here, so archiving the voting would be easier.

March 2025 – Signings

Giants sign G Greg Van Roten (1 year, $3.25 million): B+ Grade
signed on 3/26/2025

The Giants made a terrible move by signing Russell Wilson yesterday, but they’ve at least made some quality transactions this offseason. This is one of them. Greg Van Roten is 35, so he’s obviously past his prime, but he was solid in pass protection last year. It’s not often that the Giants have linemen who can pass protect, so it’s important for them to keep those who are capable of doing so.

Giants sign QB Russell Wilson (1 year, $21 million): GO MILLEN Grade
signed on 3/25/2025

I saw that the Giants signed Russell Wilson when I was putting my son to bed. I assumed it was for like $3 million, or something. I would have considered that an overpay, so you can imagine my shock when I saw that Wilson was given $21 million, $10.5 million of which is guaranteed. Um, what!?

Wilson is a decrepit quarterback who will turn 37 during the 2025 season. Aside from a few games last season, he’s been terrible for the past three years. He’s also awful in the locker room. There’s no reason the Giants should’ve had any interest in him unless they missed out on all the veteran backup quarterbacks. They did not do so, as they managed to sign Jameis Winston, who is better than Wilson right now. Why even sign Wilson then? This is such a waste of money.

Giants sign QB Jameis Winston (2 years, $8 million): A- Grade
signed on 3/21/2025

The Giants have finally found their quarterback. Backup quarterback, that is. Jameis Winston will be paid like an average reserve signal-caller, yet he’s a premium backup. The Giants were able to get a bargain.

Then again, the Giants don’t need a premium backup quarterback at the moment because they’re not a contender. Winston, however, will at least make Malik Nabers happy if he’s asked to start in 2025. There’s a good chance the Giants will draft a quarterback early, but if they don’t, the Giants will at least have an entertaining offense to showcase for their fans.

Giants sign S Jevon Holland (3 years, $45 million): A Grade
signed on 3/11/2025

The Giants are often criticized for allowing Saquon Barkley to leave, but the Super Bowl champion running back isn’t the only signficiant player to depart last offseason. Star safety Xavier McKinney was also missed, so the Giants are at least making amends for that with this signing.

Jevon Holland is an athletic and instinctive safety. He’s a great talent, though he’s coming off a down year. Still, he’s only 25, and should be able to provide a huge upgrade to New York’s secondary.

Giants sign DE Chauncey Golston (3 years, $19.5 million): B Grade
signed on 3/10/2025

The Giants already had two dangerous edge rushers, but in a division with Jalen Hurts and Jayden Daniels, you can never have enough talent as far as pass rushers are concerned. Chauncey Golston hasn’t done all that much in his career to justify this price tag, but he logged six sacks last season and showed potential. He’s somewhat young (27), so perhaps he can continue to improve with the Giants. This signing makes sense and should be graded in the “B” range.

Giants sign CB Paulson Adebo (3 years, $54 million): C+ Grade
signed on 3/10/2025

The Giants needed a top cornerback. They’ve decided to pay Paulson Adebo like a top cornerback, but I’m still not sure if they have a top cornerback.

Adebo played well for the Saints last year before breaking his leg in Week 7. He was a solid defender, but wasn’t anything special. He play certainly didn’t warrant this huge price tag. However, Adebo is young (26) and has talent, so perhaps he’ll grow into the role. This is likely an overpay, however.

Giants re-sign WR Darius Slayton (3 years, $36 million): C- Grade
signed on 3/10/2025

Giants fans hoping for their team to find an upgrade at receiver to complement Malik Nabers must be disappointed. Darius Slayton has been a mediocre producer for the Giants in the six years he’s been with the team. That will continue on this colossal 3-year contract. I don’t understand why the Giants believe Slayton is worth this sum of money, but we’ve seen some wild contracts given to receivers over the years, so I can’t say I’m surprised to see something like this.
