The order of this 2014 NFL Mock Draft is based on my NFL Power Rankings.

  1. Jacksonville Jaguars: Ty Zimmerman, S, Kansas State
    There are countless reasons why the Jaguars suck. Terrible safety play is just one of them.

  2. New York Jets: Allen Robinson, WR, Penn State
    Another weapon for Geno Smith because Santonio Holmes won’t be around much longer.

  3. New York Giants: Quandre Diggs, CB, Texas
    One area the Giants neglected in the 2013 NFL Draft that I thought they should have addressed was the cornerback position. All of their corners have struggled this year, so I don’t know what they were thinking by failing to upgrade the position.

  4. Minnesota Vikings: Ben Gardner, DE, Stanford
    Jared Allen is an impending free agent. Considering the state of the Vikings, it’s likely that he goes elsewhere.

  5. Houston Texans: Yawin Smallwood, ILB, Connecticut
    The Texans really wanted to add some inside linebackers in the 2013 NFL Draft, but never got around to it (Arthur Brown was snagged off the board right before they picked in Round 2). They remain pretty thin at the position, especially in the wake of yet another injury to Brian Cushing.

  6. Washington Redskins: Andrew Jackson, ILB, Western Kentucky
    ESPN loves talking up London Fletcher by saying he’s still great, but he can barely move. He’s one of the reasons the Redskins are so inept on defense.

  7. Oakland Raiders: Justin Gilbert, CB, Oklahoma State
    The Raiders won’t stand much of a chance against Peyton Manning as long as Mike Jenkins and Tracy Porter continue to see extensive action.

  8. Atlanta Falcons: Morgan Breslin, DE/OLB, USC
    Morgan Breslin is perfect for Atlanta’s scheme. Mike Nolan likes to utilize a defensive end-outside linebacker hybrid. Kroy Biermann was manning that position this season before he got hurt.

  9. Cleveland Browns: Corey Moore, S, Georgia
    Here’s some secondary help for the Browns, who could use someone to challenge Tashaun Gipson at safety.

  10. St. Louis Rams: Aaron Murray, QB, Georgia
    The Rams should think about drafting a quarterback on Day 2 just in case Sam Bradford continues to be mediocre (and injury-prone).

  11. Cleveland Browns: Marion Grice, RB, Arizona State
    The Browns apparently plan on courting Ben Tate in free agency, but what if he never hits the market or chooses to sign elsewhere?

  12. Buffalo Bills: Xavier Grimble, TE, USC
    E.J. Manuel, who prefers checking down, would love having an upgrade at tight end at his disposal.



  13. Philadelphia Eagles: Josh Huff, WR, Oregon
    Jeremy Maclin, who will be a free agent in March, tore his ACL prior to the season. Maclin hasn’t been able to stay healthy throughout his career, so the Eagles may want to search for a new No. 2 receiver next offseason.

  14. San Francisco 49ers: Daniel McCullers, NT, Tennessee
    The 49ers don’t need a legitimate nose tackle to run their defense, but having one definitely wouldn’t hurt.

  15. Arizona Cardinals: Seantrel Henderson, OT, Miami
    Seantrel Henderson has the upside to be a great left tackle in the NFL. Unfortunately, he hasn’t been able to put it together mentally yet. The Cardinals have taken chances on troubled players, so maybe they’ll be able to get the most out of Henderson.

  16. Baltimore Ravens: Travis Swanson, C, Arkansas
    Ray Lewis, Ed Reed and others are gone, but perhaps the player the Ravens miss most is Matt Birk. His replacements at center have been horrible. Almost anyone would be an upgrade.

  17. Miami Dolphins: Deandre Coleman, DT, California
    Both Randy Starks and Paul Soliai are impending free agents. The Dolphins will have to replenish depth in the spring.

  18. Carolina Panthers: Bene Benwikere, CB, San Jose State
    The Panthers went back-to-back defensive tackles this past April, so they could definitely do the same thing at the cornerback position (if they go with a corner in the first two rounds) considering the circumstances.

  19. Chicago Bears: David Fales, QB, San Jose State
    The Bears will almost certainly re-sign Jay Cutler, but it wouldn’t hurt for them to grab a potential successor in this loaded draft class.

  20. New York Jets: Jordan Richards, S, Stanford
    The Jets have major problems at safety, as neither Antonio Allen nor Dawan Landry should be starting.



  21. Dallas Cowboys: David Yankey, G/OT, Stanford
    The Cowboys are so desperate at guard that they lured Brian Waters out of semi-retirement.

  22. Detroit Lions: Rashaad Reynolds, CB, Oregon State
    It might still be early, but Darius Slay and Bullet Bill Bentley have been major disappointments for the Lions thus far. If they continue to struggle, the front office will consider a cornerback early.

  23. San Diego Chargers: Jeoffrey Pagan, DE/DT, Alabama
    The Chargers have a solid starting front line on defense, but they don’t have much depth.

  24. Cincinnati Bengals: Russell Bodine, C, North Carolina
    The Bengals don’t have much at center, as Kyle Cook beat out Trevor Robinson in an underwhelming camp battle.

  25. Green Bay Packers: Demarcus Lawrence, DE/OLB, Boise State
    Nick Perry finally started playing well just before getting hurt. The Packers still need depth behind Perry and Clay Matthews.

  26. Indianapolis Colts: Zack Martin, G/OT, Notre Dame
    Jim Irsay took to Twitter recently and demanded better protection for Andrew Luck. I suppose that means the Colts will drafting a lineman or two early.

  27. New England Patriots: DaQuan Jones, NT, Penn State
    Perhaps this is an overreaction pick, but Vince Wilfork will find it difficult to come back from a torn Achilles at his size and age.

  28. San Francisco 49ers: Logan Thomas, QB, Virginia Tech
    The 49ers have four Day 2 selections, so they can make a luxury pick like this. Logan Thomas has tons of potential. Maybe Jim Harbaugh can work his magic with him and then flip him for a better draft choice a couple of years later (much like the Patriots with Ryan Mallett, who was also a third-rounder).

  29. New Orleans Saints: Tre Boston, S, North Carolina
    Here’s a safety to play next to Kenny Vaccaro in the future. Malcolm Jenkins, who has disappointed, will be a free agent in March.

  30. Denver Broncos: Dri Archer, RB/WR, Kent State
    The Broncos have a dynamic offense, but one thing they don’t have is a Darren Sproles-type back coming out of the backfield. Dri Archer, who could run a high 4.2 at the Combine, could fill that role.

  31. Minnesota Vikings: Anthony Steen, G, Alabama
    The Vikings had to address the interior of their offensive line in the 2013 NFL Draft. They did so – but only in the sixth and seventh rounds.

  32. Kansas City Chiefs: Jared Abbrederis, WR, Wisconsin
    The Chiefs need another outside receiver to start across from Dwayne Bowe.
