Dante Moore Prospect Preview
By Charlie Campbell
Career Recap:
As the replacement for Dillon Gabriel, Moore was an upgrade for Oregon as he was a dynamic point-producer for the Ducks in 2025, making plays with his arm and legs. In 2025, Moore completed 73 percent of his passes for 3,280 yards with 28 touchdowns and nine interceptions. Moore could have been a high first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, but he decided to return to the Ducks for the 2026 season.
2026 Season Outlook:
Moore will see some quality opponents during the 2026 season. He has some easy opponents to pad his stats early in the year, but things start to get more difficult starting with USC (Sep. 26). The other games that could provide a real test for Moore include Ohio State (Nov. 7), Michigan (Nov. 14), and Washington (Nov. 28).
Prospect Summary:
The NFL is always searching for starting quarterback talent, so there should be plenty of teams eyeing Moore in his draft class. From a football development standpoint, Moore made a wise decision returning to Oregon. Moore has room for growth, and getting more looks at coverage, game management, situational football, and handling the pressure of leading a program on and off the field will help to prepare Moore for his job as a pro quarterback.
For the NFL, Moore has the ability to be an effective starting quarterback as he is a dangerous pocket passer capable of shredding a defense. Moore is an accurate passer who throws a very catchable ball with easy loft to drop in passes downfield. Moore can fire some perfect missiles downfield to lead his receivers for more yardage with impressive ball placement. Moore has a strong arm to push the ball vertically, and he is an aggressive passer. On top of his vertical passing ability, Moore is consistently accurate to move the chains with completions in the short to intermediate part of the field. Just from working from the pocket, Moore is a dangerous quarterback capable of leading his team down the field, dominating a defnese, and lighting up the scoreboard.
While Moore is not a running threat like Lamar Jackson or Josh Allen, Moore does have some mobility to help with his feet. Moore can run some designed runs and move within the pocket. When he scrambles, he looks to throw downfield and does not look to do a lot of carrying the ball himself. He does a nice job of keeping his eyes up to see receivers while moving around pressure.
There are things for Moore to improve upon for the NFL. Moore needs to get faster at processing; he needs to get the ball out faster and needs to avoid negative plays like taking bad sacks. The playoff loss to Indiana illustrated that Moore needs development in his field vision, decision-making, and ball security. Moore has some areas of improvement, and that is not surprising considering it was only his first season as a starter.
If Moore stays consistent in 2026 to his 2025 performance, he should be a first-round prospect with starter grades from teams.
2027 NFL Draft Expectations:
Entering the 2026 season, Moore looks like a potential high first-round pick in the 2027 NFL Mock Draft.
