2027 NFL Scouting Report: Ellis Robinson IV

Prospect Summary:

Under Kirby Smart, the Bulldogs have been a factory for defensive back talent for the NFL, and Robinson will keep that tradition going in his draft class. The cornerbacks they have produced have been well-developed players with polish in technique to go along with being prepared against excellent competition. The NFL always has huge demand for cover corners, and Robinson showed serious coverage skills in his debut as a starter for Georgia, so the cornerback tradition is alive and well in Athens.

While it was his first season as a starter, Robinson played like an upperclassmen that already had starting experience from previous seasons. He was a smooth cover corner to run the route and prevent separation. Robinson has fluid hips to turn and run, the speed to carry verticals downfield, and a burst to stay with receivers out of their break. When receivers did create some space, Robinson showed impressive recoverability using that burst to close and recover his receiver.

On top of his cover skills, Robinson was impressive with how he played the ball. He timed his breakups well and showed impressive hands to snatch the ball away for interceptions. He didn’t panic when the ball was coming his direction and did a nice job of playing the ball and not interfering with the receiver. Robinson will initiate some contact at the top of a route, but he does a good job of not grabbing and holding wideouts.

Robinson was very good in press-man corner to mirror receivers and open up to run with them downfield. On top of being good in press-man, Robinson was very fluid and smooth in off-man coverage. He showed nice vision, route recognition, and burst. Robinson was effective in zone coverage as well.

For the NFL, Robinson could stand to improve as a tackler and run defender. He could stand to gain some strength and add some weight to tackle as a pro. He weighs in at 180 pounds and has a lean frame, so adding weight could help to hold up while going against bigger and stronger competition.

Robinson has the potential to grade out as a starter and early-round pick in his draft class.
