K.J. Duff Prospect Preview

By Charlie Campbell

Career Recap:

Duff has generated a nice buzz early in the process after a breakout 2025 season to go along with special height, weight, and speed. The advance scouts have him listed at 6-foot-5, 225 pounds with a projected 40 time around 4.5 seconds. His speed and size translated to being a chunk-producing receiver in 2025 with an average of 18.1 yards per catch. Duff totaled 60 receptions for 1,084 yards with seven touchdowns. Rutgers fought hard to keep Duff from leaving, and sources say they think Rutgers paid upwards of $3 million to get Duff back in 2026. Duff could be a riser for the 2027 draft.

2026 Season Outlook:

In 2026, Duff will take on some quality opponents. The best games to watch him include USC (Sep.19), Indiana (Oct. 3), Michigan (10/31), and Penn State (11/21).

Prospect Summary:

Receivers that are especially adept at producing first downs on third-down plays and producing a four-point play with a contested touchdown catch in the red zone are a very valuable commodity for NFL teams, and Duff could be a real asset to make those kinds of conversions as a pro. He is a giant receiver, and cornerbacks can do everything right to only have Duff make a catch over them. With his stature, Duff is a serious mismatch weapon and receiving asset.

Duff is a mismatch weapon and has the potential to be a dangerous receiver in the NFL. He is a monster in the short to intermediate part of the field as a high volume possessional receiver. He is superb at getting open on slants, digs, crossers, and using his big frame to wall off cornerbacks. With his giant size, Duff can block defenders from the ball and come up with tough catches to move the chains. Duff is a tremendous third-down weapon to get conversions for his quarterback. Duff easily uses his height and leaping ability to make receptions over defensive backs, and with his size, he is never really covered. That makes Duff a real asset in the red zone as he can body up cornerbacks and make catches over cornerbacks in the end zone. Duff projects as a great weapon for third downs and in the red zone

To go along with his size and stature, Duff has very strong hands, and he snatches the ball out of the air. While he is big, Duff runs well for his size and runs good routes in the short to intermediate portion of the field. Many big receivers have issues with stiffness and are too speed deficient, but Duff runs well and has nice agility for a big wideout. As a pro, Duff could be a tremendous red zone and third-down weapon.

Duff has the potential to be a high volume possessional receiver in the NFL, and he could be a No. 1 receiver for his NFL team. Even if he doesn’t become a No. 1, he could be a very dangerous and valuable No. 2 wideout.
