2027 NFL Scouting Report: Zeke Berry

Realistically, NFL teams need at least four quality cornerbacks to have a good defense as the top three cornerbacks are essentially starters and a fourth is needed to rotate while also providing a potential starter in case there is an injury. With the demand for cover corners high, there should be plenty of NFL teams eyeing Berry in the 2027 NFL Draft.

For the NFL, Berry is a gritty cover corner who is physical, competitive, and aggressive. Berry shows versatility in coverage, being able to line up at the line of scrimmage, cover in off-man, or play zone. He is a twitchy athlete with quick reaction and an ability to explode out of breaks. Berry is effective in maintaining coverage, showing the ability to run the route and prevent separation. Berry lined up outside and inside with Michigan, but for the NFL, he could fit best as a slot corner.

Berry has nice breakup skills, timing his slaps and playing the ball without drawing penalties. Berry is more focused on slapping passes away, but he does come close to interceptions, and he could have some seasons with quality interception totals.

As a run defender, Berry is a willing tackler who will dish out some physicality. He flies downhill and will not hesitate to hit and tackle. He lacks size, but Berry is willing and tough.

While Berry has good cover skills, he has some size limitations. He is short, feels short when you watch him on tape, and his lack of length is apparent. Thus, playing in the slot could be better than exposing him to playing outside.
