2027 NFL Scouting Report: Cam Coleman

Prospect Summary:

In the passing-driven NFL, teams are always looking for an elite No. 1 receiver and Coleman has that type of talent. He is a mismatch weapon with a great skill set of size, speed, and athleticism. On top of his physical talent, Coleman is just a natural football player with excellent instincts and feel. He is a coverage nightmare for defenses and very tough to defend.

For the NFL, Coleman is a dangerous outside receiver who is capable of a game-changing play on any snap. Coleman has good speed to get downfield with the size to get position over defenders. Coleman has an elite ability to win 50-50 passes, and he routinely makes tremendous acrobatic catches. Whether it is high-pointing a ball over defenders or adjusting his body to make a diving one-handed catch, Coleman is incredible at making receptions with cornerbacks close by. He has amazing ball adjust athleticism with outstanding body control. His size and agility are rare, and Coleman is a dynamic red zone weapon along with being a mismatch problem for defenses on third down. Quarterbacks are fortunate they can throw the ball up for Coleman, as he will make them look good with his fabulous contested catch talent.

Coleman also has the speed to get downfield and stretch defenses vertically. He can run by cornerbacks and burn defenses over the top. If he had better quarterback play in 2025, there were double-digit plays where Coleman should have scored long touchdowns, but the ball was thrown too late or underthrown, letting the defense catch up to make a tackle. Coleman will be a dangerous vertical threat along the sideline in the NFL.

Coleman looks like a future No. 1 receiver in the NFL. Some team sources thought Coleman could stand to get stronger and develop his body more. They felt he could use refinement with hitting his landmarks and has room for improvement with his route-running on first and second down. That being said, Coleman was getting lots of praise and has drawn comparisons to A.J. Green and CeeDee Lamb.
