The Matchups:
The Tar Heels and Horned Frogs don’t have any preseason projected first-round talents, but this game features some players with mid-round potential. Of the players on these teams, Abou Jaoude had the highest grade from the NFL advance scouts on the preseason watchlist. The defensive prospects on both teams are worth watching in the 2026 season opener.

There is a good draft matchup in this game with Prongos taking on Wilson. Wilson could have been a day-two pick had he entered the 2026 NFL Draft, and Prongos will be a nice test. If Prongos produces an impressive tape versus Wilson, that would really help the Cardinal tackle rise. Rose is a talented linebacker, and he is going to be challenged by a hard-nosed runner in Fletcher and a quarterback with some mobility in Mensah.
Boise State vs. Oregon; Sep. 5, 3:30 PM ET CBS

This game won’t be much of a test for the Ducks, but Boise State has some players on each line that are worth watching against the talented Oregon fronts.

Both Lagway and Brown have pro potential and it will be interesting to see how the transfer quarterbacks start their 2026 seasons.
LSU vs. Clemson; Nov. 29, 7:30 PM ET ABC

There is a great matchup in this game with Tigers star cornerback Ashton Hampton being challenged by the Tigers' passing attack of Leavitt, Brown, Harris, and Green. If Hampton produces a good tape, this will help get his season started strong, as LSU is one of the more talented opponents he will see this season.
Notre Dame vs. Wisconsin; Sep. 6, 7:30 PM ET NBC

The Matchups:
The Fighting Irish have a roster loaded with NFL talent, and they will put that on display in the Packers’ home of Lambeau Field. Carr, Moore, and Johnson could be first-rounders next April. Others like Traore and McKinney could contend to be first- or second-day picks depending on how they play this season.
Ole Miss vs. Louisville; Sep. 6, 7:30 PM ET ABC

The Rebels have some very good pro talent with early-round prospects like Lacy, Echoles, and Chambliss. Playing well against Louisville is necessary for them, and Brown could use a good start to the season while NFL eyes are on Lacy as a potential first-rounder.
