2027 NFL Scouting Report: LaNorris Sellers

Prospect Summary:

For a long time, the big-armed pocket passer was the rage in the NFL, but over the last decade, the league has fallen in love with mobile quarterbacks who are dual￾threats and bring dangerous running ability to the scoring attack. With that being the case, there probably will be plenty of scouts who are high on Sellers and give him a starter grade in their reports.

For the NFL, Sellers is a dynamic playmaker who is a threat to produce a big play on any snap. With good size and strength, Sellers has a rare ability to break tackles in the pocket and bail out his offensive line from allowing a sack. Sellers is strong to shed tackles, and then scramble out of danger to be in position to make a pass or take off down the field with surprising acceleration. Sellers has quick feet and reaction ability to dodge pass rushers and does an advanced job of keeping his eyes downfield when he has to start moving. Sellers throws well on the run and has easy arm strength to loft passes down the field. Sellers is dangerous on designed runs and is a real asset to convert on third-and-medium or in the red zone. As a runner, Sellers has a play style that is similar to Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen or Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson. The NFL advance scouts, have Sellers clocking a 4.5 time in the 40-yard dash, and that is excellent speed for a quarterback with his size.

Similar to Richardson coming out of Florida, Sellers could use refinement and development as a pocket passer for the NFL. Sellers is very streaky with his accuracy and misses too many easy completions in the short to intermediate part of the field. Sellers looks further along than Richardson was, but Sellers still could use some work on anticipating and getting the ball out faster. He needs to get faster at reading coverage and pulling the trigger sooner. Sometimes it looks as if Sellers is waiting to see his wideout break open rather than anticipating where the receiver will find space for the competition. Sellers has a strong arm with easy arm strength to push the ball vertically down the field. He does a nice job of putting air underneath the ball and lofting in touch passes. Even though he has a strong arm, he does not throw everything flat or too much of a fastball for his receivers. Sellers showed better accuracy and ball placement in the second half of the 2024 season, so he needs to get back to that and show a vast improvement in his accuracy in 2026.

Sellers has a lot of talent and upside to be a starting quarterback in the NFL. He also is known to be a good teammate, hard worker, and leader. But he needs to improve and show more development as an accurate pocket passer to achieve starter grades across the league.
