2027 NFL Scouting Report: Leonard Moore

Prospect Summary:

Across the NFL, cover corners are always in demand as teams feel they can never have enough talent to help limit receiving weapons. Come April of 2027, Moore could be one of the most highly coveted players in the draft as he could be the best cornerbacks to enter the NFL since Derek Stingley and Sauce Gardner in 2022 (not including the anomaly of Travis Hunter). Entering his junior year, Moore is an elite cover corner prospect with no weaknesses exposed on his 2025 or 2024 tape.

For the NFL, Moore could be a No. 1 cover corner and an elite coverage cornerback. Moore is incredible with his ability to run the receiver's route and prevent separation. Moore has tremendous twitch, reaction skills, and speed to keep running stride-for-stride downfield while staying in the hip pocket of receivers after they make their breaks. Moore flat out blankets receivers and keeps them from getting open. With excellent instincts, Moore has great route recognition and never is caught by surprise or caught guessing or gambling. His intelligence is seen in him staying in phase in coverage and reading the eyes of receivers to know when to look back for the ball. Moore is a natural player with a high football I.Q.

To go along with twitch and athleticism, Moore is fast and has no issues carrying verticals down the field. Speed receivers can’t beat him over the top. His height and length make him fully capable of defending big receivers, and Moore is superb on contested catches. He has outstanding ball skills to attack the ball for breakups and interceptions. It is very dangerous for a quarterback to throw a contested catch in Moore’s direction.

Moore is well-rounded, being able to execute any kind of coverage with ease. He is excellent in press man, off man, or zone. Moore can be physical with receivers to jam and reroute while also winning position downfield.

Moore is also a good contributor in the ground game. He is an aggressive tackler and shows zero hesitation to tackle in the box. The instincts and playmaking skills are apparent as a tackler as well, as he is adept at forcing fumbles with an impressive "peanut punch.” If you are looking to nitpick, you could say Moore could stand to be a stronger tackler with more stopping ability, but many corners don’t like to or aren’t very willing to tackle; Moore is the opposite, as he is a more than willing tackler.

On top of being an elite player, Moore is known to be a great kid with excellent intangibles. He is a good teammate, hard worker, and humble. Moore is the complete package to be a potential No. 1 cover corner and has the potential to be a perennial pro bowler and one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL.
