Trevor Lauck Prospect Preview
By Charlie Campbell
Career Recap:
Lauck developed as a backup before breaking into the starting lineup at left tackle in 2025. Lauck had an excellent debut, showing effectiveness in both phases. With a year of experience, Lauck could be even better in 2026.
2026 Season Outlook:
Lauck will see some quality opponents in 2026, including games against Michigan (Sep. 26), Ohio State (Oct. 3), Washington (Oct. 9), and Minnesota (Oct. 24).
Prospect Summary:
The NFL is always looking for offensive line talent, and the Iowa Hawkeyes program has been a factory for good blockers under head coach Kirk Ferentz. Lauck will keep that tradition alive for the 2027 NFL Draft as he is a well-rounded blocker that looks like a safe pick to turn into a quality starter as a pro.
As a pass blocker, Lauck is gifted as he combines size, strength, quickness, and technique. With quick enough feet, Lauck is able to get depth in his drop to take away the edge from speed rushers, and his long frame makes it hard for defenders to get around him. With enough strength in his base, Lauck can anchor against bull rushes, and he is able to bend at the knee. At times, Lauck will overset, and that opens up some lanes to get past him, but that could be correctable with experience and coaching.
In the ground game, Lauck has some real fight to him. Lauck can knock defenders out of their gap and ride them around the field. He blocks through the whistle and is physical at the point of attack. Lauck is quick out of his stance and can get to blocks on the second level, so that, combined with his drive block ability, makes Lauck a good fit for either a zone blocking or power man scheme in the NFL.
Lauck is a polished blocker who is effective in both phases. He could be highly coveted in his draft class.
2027 NFL Draft Expectations:
Entering the 2026 season, Lauck looks like a potential early-round pick for the first or second day of the 2027 NFL Draft.
