Darian Mensah Prospect Preview

By Charlie Campbell

Career Recap:

Mensah has been a product of the NIL work in college football as a gun for hire for three different programs. In his debut season with Tulane, Mensah completed 66 percent of his passes for 2,723 yards with 22 touchdowns and six interceptions. Duke gave Mensah a big payday to play for the Blue Devils, and he played well, completing 67 percent of his passes for 3,973 yards with 34 touchdowns and six interceptions. After the season, Mensah transferred again, landing with the Miami Hurricanes for 2026.

2026 Season Outlook:

Mensah has a lot of easy opponents on his 2026 schedule, so he should produce a big season with the Hurricanes. The best games to watch him include Clemson (Oct. 3), Florida State (Oct. 17), North Carolina (Oct. 31), and Notre Dame (Nov. 7).

Prospect Summary:

Mensah is not an elite athlete and lacks ideal size, but his skill set looks capable of being a potential starting quarterback in the NFL.

Mensah jumps out as a dangerous quarterback with good accuracy, feel as a passer, and a quality arm. Mensah throws a very catchable football with nice loft on the ball, with good placement to drop passes into receivers with close coverage. Mensah is slippery in the pocket to avoid the rush and does a nice job of keeping his eyes downfield as he runs. While Mensah has mobility and athleticism, he is not dependent on his feet, as he can move the ball with his arm from the pocket. Mensah also showed quality field vision to read coverage, work through progressions, and make good decisions. As long as he stays healthy, he will enter the NFL with at least three years of starting experience and a lot of development for the next level.

2027 NFL Draft Expectations:

Entering the 2026 season, Mensah has early-round potential for the 2027 NFL Draft.
