Vicari Swain Prospect Preview

Career Recap:
South Carolina has had a number of good cornerbacks come through the program in recent years, and Swain will keep that tradition alive in 2027. In 2025, Swain totaled 28 tackles with one sack, two interceptions, and five passes broken up. The previous season, he had 13 tackles with one sack and one pass broken up.
2026 Season Outlook:
Swain is going to take on a lot of good receivers in 2026, including games against Alabama (Sep. 26), Florida (Oct. 10), Oklahoma (Oct. 31), Texas A&M (Nov. 7), Georgia (Nov. 21), and Clemson (Nov. 28).
Prospect Summary:
In pass coverage, Swain is versatile to be a press-man corner, play off man, or zone coverage. He is big enough to be a press-man corner who manipulates the route that receivers can run after his jam. Swain has quality height, speed, and length to handle big receivers. With loose hips, Swain has no issues turning and running with receivers. Along with his size, Swain is quick and twitchy so he is capable of running with speed receivers on verticals.
The speed, athleticism, and grit can be seen in Swain being a dangerous punt returner. If he doesn’t pan out as a starting cornerback, he could be valuable as a backup corner who also contributes as a returner on special teams.
As a run defender, Swain should be a solid contributor. Swain is a physical and gritty defender who is a willing tackler in the ground game. Swain will be able to contribute to his team’s run defense.
Swain looks like he has a real shot at getting a starter grade from NFL scouts and that would lead to him getting selected in the first two days of the draft.
