Charlie Becker Prospect Preview

Career Recap:
Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti did a phenomenal job of working the transfer portal to produce a legendary college football team in 2025 that went undefeated and won the National Championship. He brought almost an entire new team and set of starters to Indiana, but one holdover from the previous regime that Cignetti held onto and featured was Charlie Becker. Becker’s skill set and talent were undeniable, and he made some huge, clutch plays on the Hoosiers’ Championship run. Becker averaged 20 yards per reception as he hauled in 34 passes for 679 yards and four touchdowns.
2026 Season Outlook:
It was the first season of serious playing time for Becker, so he could improve now that he has experience. Becker also should get more targets after a strong finish to the 2025 season and the loss of Omar Cooper to the NFL. The best games to see Becker could be against Ohio State (Oct. 17), Michigan (Oct. 24), USC (Nov. 14), and Washington (Nov. 17).
Prospect Summary:
In the eyes of this draft analyst, Becker looks like a carbon copy of Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce. His style of play with big size and dangerous deep speed to work the deep sideline is exactly like Pierce. Becker is also phenomenal at using his size to win acrobatic 50-50 jump passes, and that looks similar to the Lions’ Isaac TeSlaa. Becker has room for improvement, and he looked like he was just scratching the surface of his potential in 2025.
Wide receivers with Becker’s skill set of being big, fast, and productive don’t last long in the NFL Draft, and Becker has special ability for the NFL. Big receivers are a dime a dozen, but what sets Becker apart from a typical big wideout is that he can really run. He has explosiveness and deep speed to get vertical. After a fast first step, Becker has a second gear to accelerate down the field and stretch defenses over the top. He can run by double coverage and create separation from defensive backs by beating them in a vertical race downfield. His speed and route-running skill allow him to consistently generate separation from defensive backs, as he is very difficult to run with.
Becker shows good technique as a receiver as well. He tracks the ball well and has late hands to reel in passes even with defenders close. At his stature, Becker has big size, weight, height, strength, and length to present a dangerous mismatch versus defensive backs. Becker makes some amazing acrobatic catches over defenders downfield. With his weight and big frame, Becker walls off defenders and is adept at timing his jump over them. He uses his strength to hold onto the ball and does not let the defender slap it away for an incompletion. He shows no fear when a big hit is coming and has strong hands. Becker also showed some run-after-the-catch ability in 2025.
In 2026, it would help Becker to show more defined route-running and develop more of a route tree, but the talent is there for him to produce a big season and receive starter grades from NFL scouts.
2027 NFL Draft Expectations:
