2027 NFL Mock Draft – Round 1 (1-16) – Charlie Campbell

The Chargers go with the best player available and land an elite No. 1 receiver for Justin Herbert.

In 2026, Smith has 62 receptions for 1,067 yards and 13 touchdowns. Smith has dominated against Ball State, Texas, and Kent State. He then destroyed Illinois (12-217-4) in prolific fashion.

In 2025, Smith caught 87 passes for 1,243 yards and 12 touchdowns. Smith (6-3, 215) took college football by storm as a freshman, and he dominated for the Buckeyes. In his debut season, Smith caught 76 passes for 1,315 yards and 15 touchdowns. He showed size, speed, athleticism, and natural feel in a tremendous freshman year, helping Ohio State win a National Championship. As I wrote in the preseason scouting report on Smith (link above), Smith reminds me of Julio Jones. Smith has shocking deep speed in a powerful frame with excellent size, outstanding route-running, twitch and explosion to get separation, and huge, strong hands. What really sets Smith apart for a big receiver is his outstanding explosion and twitch that lets him get quick separation on short routes. Smith is a true freak athlete and is among the best NFL Draft prospects over the past 20 years.

The Titans grab the second-best player in the draft and a true No. 1 corner. Tennessee has needs all over the roster, and cornerback is one of them.

Moore played well against Wisconsin with five solo tackles, a pass break-up, blanket coverage, and a near interception. In 2026, Moore has 13 tackles with five passes broken up. Moore dealt with injuries but played really well in 2025. He had 31 tackles with five interceptions and seven passes defended. With Benjamin Morrison hurt, Moore was phenomenal in 2024, helping the Fighting Irish reach the National Championship. He totaled 48 tackles, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, and 11 passes broken up as a freshman. Moore (6-2, 195) has an excellent skill set with size, speed, and athleticism, and is a natural football player.

The new Dolphins coaching staff is doing a nice job of developing Chop Robinson, and he is really progressing this season. However, the Dolphins still need more edge rush talent and could use an upgrade on the other side from Robinson.

Simmons has 25 tackles, 10.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery in 2026. In 2025, Simmons had 43 tackles, 12 sacks, three forced fumbles, and two passes broken up. In 2024, Simmons had an excellent debut for Texas and showed serious pass-rush ability with nine sacks. He also had three forced fumbles, 48 tackles, two passes defended, and one interception. Simmons (6-3, 245) has upside and could be even better after gaining experience.

The Jets take a potential franchise quarterback, and Mestemaker has an excellent skill set with upside to develop.

My mock draft is based on what I think teams will do, and not what I think they should do. Mestemaker reminds this analyst of Blake Bortles and Paxton Lynch, but he is the consensus prospect that is likely to be the first quarterback drafted next April. In 2026, Mestemaker has completed 66 percent of his passes for 2,649 yards with 25 passing touchdowns, two rushing scores, and seven interceptions.

Mestemaker (6-4, 211) has a good skill set with arm talent, size, and mobility. He flashed special ability with North Texas in 2025, completing 69 percent of his passes for 4,379 yards with 34 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He also had five rushing touchdowns. Mestemaker has a powerful arm and running ability, but he is very raw and needs development for the NFL. He locks on his primary read, struggles to work through progressions, and read defenses.

The Eagles could be poised to add their quarterback of the future and find an upgrade for their passing offense.

In 2026,Mensah has completed 81 percent of his passes for 2,456 yards with 25 touchdowns and one interception. Mensah (6-3, 205) played well in his season with Duke. He completed 67 percent of his passes for 3,973 yards with 34 touchdowns, six interceptions, and one rushing touchdown. After the season, he transferred to Miami to replace Carson Beck. Mensah has a quality skill set with good accuracy, poise, and some functional mobility. In 2024, Mensah had a good season as Tulane's starting quarterback, which led to him getting big-money offers in the transfer portal. He does not have elite athleticism or size, but Mensah is a dangerous passer and a point producer.

New York adds a replacement for Quinnen Williams.

Gilliam has been a beast for Tennessee in 2026 with dominant performances against Texas and Georgia Tech. Thus far, he has 25 tackles with six sacks, two forced fumbles, and a pass batted. In 2025, he had 16 tackles with .5 sacks and a forced fumble while playing with Penn State. Gilliam (6-2, 305) is fast, athletic, and strong. He could be a riser through the process.

The Saints could use a true No. 1 corner for their defense.

In 2026, Robinson has 15 tackles, five passes defended, and an interception. In 2025, Robinson had a breakout season for the Bulldogs, playing as an effective cover corner. Robinson totaled four interceptions, seven passes broken up, and 20 tackles. Robinson (6-0, 180) could stand to fill out his frame to help him battle pro receivers.

Houston grabs an offensive line upgrade to improve their pass protection for C.J. Stroud.

Seaton played well against Clemson in the season opener and did well against Ole Miss. The 6-foot-5, 307-pounder has a good skill set with size, quickness, strength, and athleticism. He was impressive as the starting left tackle at Colorado for two seasons. It will be interesting to see how Seaton handles better competition in 2026.

Washington badly needs more playmakers for Jayden Daniels.

Becker has 50 catches for 875 yards and nine touchdowns thus far in 2026. Becker flashed big-play ability with the Hoosiers in 2025 and showed an ability to stretch defenses downfield. In 2025, he had 30 catches for 614 yards with five scores. Becker illustrated some serious speed with his average of 20.5 yards per reception. To go along with speed, Becker has size and length at 6-foot-4, 204 pounds. He is reminiscent of Alec Pierce at Cincinnati.

The Jets grab a true replacement for Sauce Gardner.

Jones (6-3, 196) is a big cornerback with impressive coverage skills. In 2026, Jones has 27 tackles with seven passes broken up. Jones is long, physical, and has speed. On top of coverage skills, Jones is a willing tackler and run defender. In 2025, Jones had 34 tackles with two interceptions and 11 passes broken up. He had 28 tackles as a freshman.

The Cardinals grab their next potential franchise quarterback. Carr is a good fit in the LaFleur offense.

In 2026, Carr has completed 67 percent of his passes for 1,849 yards with 18 touchdowns and one interception.He has three rushing touchdowns. Carr (6-3, 205) developed nicely in his first season as a starter, and by the end of the year, he was showing NFL starting ability. Carr completed 67 percent of his passes for 2,741 yards with 24 touchdowns and six interceptions. He was accurate, managed the game well, possesses developed field vision, and is a dangerous pocket passer with functional mobility. Carr is also known to have great leadership, character, and loves football. He also has great poise, composure, and an ability to handle high-stress environments. Having gone through a horrible family tragedy, Carr is able to keep perspective.

The Bucs grab an edge rusher to pair with Rueben Bain. Al-Quadin Muhammad was a short-term addition, while Yaya Diaby is a free agent after this season.

In 2026, Stewart has nine tackles with two sacks and two forced fumbles. He missed a few games with injury and was suspended for a game after throwing a punch versus Alabama. In 2025, Stewart had 33 tackles, 4.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, and two passes defended. The 6-foot-5, 245-pound Stewart was superb for the Gamecocks in 2024. As a freshman, he was an immediate impact player, totaling 6.5 sacks with three forced fumbles, one pass batted, and 23 tackles. Stewart has a lot of potential to develop.

The Falcons could use youth at tackle. Jawaan Taylor is not a long-term starter at right tackle, and left tackle Jake Matthews is aging.

Goosby (6-7, 325) took over as the starting left tackle for Texas in 2025 and had an impressive debut for the Longhorns. Goosby has good size, athleticism, strength, quickness, and upside. He has good feet and agility to mirror speed rushers off the edge with the strength to anchor against bull rushes. Goosby is also a quality run defender who can create a push at the point of attack. Goosby looks like a safe pick to be a solid starter in the NFL. However, he suffered a season-ending knee injury against Ole Miss on Oct. 24.

The Raiders foolishly passed on Luther Burden and Denzel Boston over the past two drafts. Las Vegas badly needs more receiving talent for Fernando Mendoza.

In 2026, Marsh has 38 catches for 669 yards and eight touchdowns. Marsh was highly targeted in the transfer portal, and Indiana won the bidding war to add him to their 2026 roster. In 2025, Marsh had 59 receptions for 662 yards with six touchdowns at Michigan State. The 6-foot-3, 203-pound Marsh is very talented and has a ton of upside. In 2024, he caught 41 passes for 649 yards and three touchdowns. He could take off in 2025 or 2026.

The Ravens need more receiving weapons for Lamar Jackson.

In 2026, Duff has dominated against UMass (9-196-3) and Boston College (8-137-2). He has 45 receptions for 774 yards with nine touchdowns. Duff has generated a nice buzz early in the process after a breakout 2025 season, along with special height, weight, and speed. The advance scouts have him listed at 6-foot-5, 225 pounds, with a projected 40-yard time around 4.5 seconds. His speed and size translated to being a chunk-producing receiver in 2025 with an average of 18.1 yards per catch. Duff totaled 60 receptions for 1,084 yards with seven touchdowns. Rutgers fought hard to keep Duff from leaving, and sources say they think Rutgers paid upwards of $3 million to get Duff back in 2026. Duff could be a riser for the 2027 draft.

Cleveland targets a potential long-term starter.

In 2026, Moore completed 70 percent of his passes for 926 yards with nine touchdowns. He played in four games, and against USC on Sep. 26, Moore took a vicious hit to the head and was stretchered off the field. He suffered a concussion and was expected to come back this season, but in late October it was announced that Moore would not return. Now he is faced with a difficult decision on whether to return to college or enter the NFL Draft with medical concerns and a limited season. Team sources agreed with my comp for Moore being Geno Smith.

Moore was a dynamic point-producer for the Ducks in 2025, making plays with his arm and legs. In 2025, Moore completed 73 percent of his passes for 3,280 yards with 28 touchdowns and nine interceptions. Moore (6-2, 215) is a dangerous quarterback who is tough to defend. He has shown impressive arm talent and feel as a passer. Moore throws some beautiful deep balls and shows impressive composure and poise for a young player. Moore has adequate size, and team sources who have stood next to and spoken with Moore and Rams quarterback Ty Simpson say they are close to the same height and weight.
