The Browns have brought in a completely new offensive line and receiver corps this offseason. They could end up being better than what the Browns had last year, but it might take some time for the team to gel. The good news is that the Browns have a great defense that can keep the team competitive in most games while the offense meshes together.

Walt’s Team Needs Assessment
Needs
The Browns just experienced another season of disappointment. Their defense was excellent, and even featured the league’s new single-season sack record holder, but the offense continued to be dreadful.
- Quarterback: The Browns have needed a franchise quarterback for a very long time. However, given the draft positioning, the Browns may have to decide between Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders in training camp.
- Two Offensive Tackles: Jedrick Wills was a huge disappointment and was promptly released. Jack Conklin can’t stay healthy. Two tackles are needed for Cleveland’s next quarterback. Traded for Tytus Howard
- Wide Receiver: Jerry Jeudy has been a disappointment for most of his career. The Browns need a new No. 1 receiver.
- Two Guards: Joel Bitonio, Wyatt Teller, and Teven Jenkins are all impending free agents. Two will need to be re-signed, or replacements will need to be found. Signed Zion Johnson and Elgton Jenkins
- Center: Ethan Pocic suffered a torn Achilles tendon. He’s also set to hit free agency, so even if he re-signs, he’s no lock to play in the first two months of the 2026 season.
- Defensive End: Despite Myles Garrett’s record-setting season, the Browns weren’t even in the top 15 of quarterback pressures. Cleveland needs a better bookend for Garrett. Signed A.J. Epenesa
- Punter: Cleveland had one of the league’s worst punters last year.
Walt’s 2026 NFL Draft – Overall Team Grade and Selection Grades
Draft Review
Walt’s Draft Grade:
A Grade
Walt’s Grade Summary
It turns out that Cleveland’s plan was to make great draft decisions, at least at the beginning of the weekend. The Browns had three picks in the top 39, and all three scored between A+ and A-. One of the picks was a trade down with the Chiefs, where Cleveland picked up free third- and fifth-round selections, and yet were still able to obtain the player they coveted (Spencer Fano) three picks later.
The Browns followed up their tackle pick with two receiver selections. K.C. Concepcion was a strong choice at No. 24, but one of the best values in this entire draft was Denzel Boston at No. 39. Cleveland followed that up with another quality bargain at No. 58 with Emmanuel McNeil-Warren, but I want to concentrate on Concepcion and Boston because the duo has the potential to turn a major weakness into a strength to help the team’s young Pro Bowl quarterback.
I didn’t like some of the picks the Browns made on Day 3, but it wasn’t all bad. They were able to add a couple more quality selections to complete their great draft class. It’s not often that we get to say that the Browns did a terrific job, but it’s definitely appropriate right now.

A+
Spencer Fano, OT, Utah

Scouting Report
We don’t get to say this often, but great drafting by the Browns. They easily could have drafted the top tackle in this class at No. 6, yet they fooled the Chiefs into thinking someone wanted Mansoor Delane at No. 7 or 8, picking up third- and fifth-round picks in the process. And yet, they still obtained the player they wanted at No. 6! This is an A+ pick for the Browns, who finally have a potential stud at left tackle.
Pick 24
A-
K.C. Concepcion, WR, Texas A&M
WR
Texas A&M
Rnk: 28
Scouting Report
There was some concern that the Browns wouldn’t be able to get a viable receiver at No. 24 if they chose a tackle at No. 6 (or No. 9), but that turned out not to be the case. K.C. Concepcion is a terrific prospect with some great play-making ability. He should be able to give Pro Bowler Shedeur Sanders a great weapon, though it must be noted that he comes with some character concerns.
Pick 39
A+
Denzel Boston, WR, Washington
WR
Washington
Rnk: 19
Scouting Report
What a steal! I had the Browns selecting Denzel Boston at No. 24 in my 2026 NFL Mock Draft. I would have graded that pick as a B+ or an A-, so this is easily an A+. Boston is a big receiver with play-making ability, and the Browns suddenly have two receivers with loads of potential.
Pick 58
B+
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren, S, Toledo
S
Toledo
Rnk: 62
Scouting Report
Many think Emmanuel McNeil-Warren fell, but I had him in the middle of the second round for most of the time. McNeil-Warren has good size and speed, but I’m not sure about the instincts, so I was never very high on him. The potential is definitely there, however.
Pick 86
C
Austin Barber, OT, Florida
OT
Florida
Rnk: 97
Another tackle makes sense for the offensive line-starved Browns. Austin Barber has plenty of upside, but was very inconsistent in his collegiate career. It’s nice that he bring versatility, though I’m not a fan that the Brown traded two resources to move up for him.
Pick 146
D
Parker Brailsford, C, Alabama
C
Alabama
Rnk: 360
Parker Brailsford is a quick lineman, but lacks power and arm length. I didn’t have him in my mock draft, so I can’t be a fan of this selection.
Pick 149
D
Justin Jefferson, LB, Alabama
LB
Alabama
Rnk: 275
Justin Jefferson moves well in coverage, but is undersized. Linebacker wasn’t a need for the Browns, and this isn’t even a value because I had Jefferson in the seventh round.
Pick 170
B+
Joe Royer, TE, Cincinnati
TE
Cincinnati
Rnk: 106
Scouting Report
Joe Royer can make plays in the passing game, but must improve his blocking. The Browns lost David Njoku, so they were expected to find another intermediate threat to join Harold Fannin. I had Royer going 30 picks earlier than this, so Cleveland is getting good value.
Pick 182
A-
Taylen Green, QB, Arkansas
QB
Arkansas
Rnk: 113
Taylen Green has great athleticism and arm strength, but is extremely raw as a passer. Some teams believe he should move to receiver. It’s nice that if Green fails, the Browns could just move him to receiver. I had Green in the fourth round, so there’s good value atop Round 6.

Also, if you haven’t visited the site in a while, you may have noticed the new look. Yes, after nearly two decades, we’ve finally re-designed our site to be more modern. This was not done on a whim, but rather out of necessity because of what occurred during the 2023 NFL Draft. Our site crashed during the entire first day of the draft, which was disastrous for our revenue stream because we make more money during the draft than any other time. The site crashed because a line of code conflicted with the old format of the site, so we had to transition to this new look.
Because we lost so much money during the draft, I want to point out that you can really help support the site by paying for the ad-free version of it. It’s $7.99 per month, but you’ll get a super-fast site with no ads. My developer will be adding new features to paid subscribers as well, so look for that in the near future. If you don’t want to pay, please spread the word about the site through word of mouth. That would also be a big help!
Pick 248
C
Carsen Ryan, TE, BYU
TE
BYU
Rnk: 0
Carsen Ryan is a very limited athlete, but he blocks well. I didn’t have him in my top 400, so I can’t be too excited about this selection.
