2018 Fantasy Football Stock Report – Week of June 4

June 10

Mike Gesicki, TE, Dolphins
Mike Gesicki has looked “lost at times” during OTAs, according to the Miami Herald’s Adam Beasley. Rookie tight ends are already risky enough, so this is another reason to stay away from Gesicki this year.

David Johnson, RB, Cardinals
David Johnson has some sort of injury that caused him to miss time this past week. AZCentral’s Kent Somers says it’s “not serious,” but then why is there a high level of secrecy surrounding it? I’m not dropping Johnson in my rankings just yet, but if you have a super-early fantasy draft in June for some reason, you may want to take one of the other top running backs instead, just to be safe.

Tyler Lockett, WR, Seahawks
Tyler Lockett is finally fully healthy again, according to Pete Carroll. Lockett may get some hype as a result, but he’s been nothing more than a dynamic return specialist during his career. He’s woefully inefficient as a receiver, so I wouldn’t waste my time with him.

Mike Wallace, WR, Eagles
Mike Wallace has “looked the part,” according to Jimmy Kempski of Philly Voice. Wallace has been playing with pedestrian quarterbacks of late, but that won’t be the case this year if Carson Wentz is healthy. I wouldn’t draft Wallace until the final rounds, however.

June 8

Julian Edelman, WR, Patriots
Julian Edelman is facing a four-game suspension for violating the PED policy. Edelman is appealing. Luckily, this process is occurring well before most fantasy drafts are taking place, so we’ll know if he’s suspended or not in the near future.

Derrius Guice, RB, Redskins
Jay Gruden told the media that it’s been “very exciting” watching Derrius Guice catch the ball. This is notable because Gruden called Guice a “first- or second-down banger” when the Redskins drafted the LSU talent in April. Guice, by no means, will be replacing Chris Thompson as the third-down back, but he’ll catch more passes than initially anticipated.

Michael Thomas, WR, Saints
Michael Thomas has been looking like a “freak” in OTAs, according to Nick Underhill of the Advocate. This isn’t a surprise by any means, but it’s a great sign that Thomas has been taking his career seriously, unlike some other very talented players. Thomas should be one of the top fantasy receivers this season.

Kevin White, WR, Bears
Mitchell Trubisky told the media that Kevin White has been “hungry,” showing lots of passion. Trubisky also said he “wants to be coached.” White’s career has been very disappointing for a first-round pick, as it’s been laden with injuries and lethargy. However, White seems to be taking his career seriously for the first time, and he’s being coached at a high level with Matt Nagy replacing the inept John Fox.

June 7

Kenny Golladay, WR, Lions
Kenny Golladay has “looked like a veteran” at minicamp, according to the Lions’ official Web site. Golladay flashed as a rookie, but didn’t get much of a chance because he was behind Golden Tate, Marvin Jones and Eric Ebron in the pecking order. Ebron is gone, so Golladay’s outlook is brighter in his second season.

Derrick Henry, RB, Titans
Titans offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur told the media that he views Derrick Henry and Dion Lewis as his “1A and 1B” running backs. This is obviously bad news for Henry, who is being overdrafted at his 3.01 ADP.

Carson Wentz, QB, Eagles
ESPN’s Chris Mortensen said he’s starting to believe that Carson Wentz will be ready for the season opener. Wentz may not have his complete mobility, however, so I would not draft him in the first five rounds (his ADP is 6.01.)
