2018 Fantasy Football Rankings - Tight Ends (Sept. 5):
Top 10 | 11-20 | 21-45

  1. Rob Gronkowski, TE, Patriots. Bye: 11.
Rob Gronkowski has emulated parts of Tom Brady’s diet, and it paid off for him, as he missed just two games this past season. Gronkowski had a big year as a result, catching 69 passes for 1,084 yards and eight touchdowns. Expect similar production in 2018, as Gronkowski has apparently called off all retirement talk.

Projected 2018 Fantasy Stats: 75 catches. 1,040 yards. 10 total TDs.
    Projected 2018 Fantasy Points: 164.
Projected 2018 PPR Fantasy Points: 239.

  2. Zach Ertz, TE, Eagles. Bye: 9.
Zach Ertz finished the 2016 campaign on a strong note, and he parlayed that into an incredible 2017 campaign. Ertz logged 74 catches for 824 yards and eight touchdowns despite missing two games. He has great chemistry with Carson Wentz, and he should continue to be one of the top tight ends in football as long as Wentz is healthy.

Projected 2018 Fantasy Stats: 80 catches. 880 yards. 9 total TDs.
    Projected 2018 Fantasy Points: 142.
Projected 2018 PPR Fantasy Points: 222.

  3. Travis Kelce, TE, Chiefs. Bye: 12.
Travis Kelce makes bone-headed plays from time to time, and he drops lots of passes, but he’s extremely talented. He’s a perennial top-five fantasy tight end, and it was nice to see his touchdown total rise in 2017 (8, up from 4). Patrick Mahomes has replaced Alex Smith, but there’s no reason for Kelce’s numbers to decline.

Projected 2018 Fantasy Stats: 82 catches. 1,050 yards. 6 total TDs.
    Projected 2018 Fantasy Points: 141.
Projected 2018 PPR Fantasy Points: 223.

  4. Jimmy Graham, TE, Packers. Bye: 7.
AUG. 17 UPDATE: Jimmy Graham looks like he’s going to have a big year. Graham caught a touchdown from Aaron Rodgers on the opening drive versus the Steelers, then drew a 26-yard pass-interference flag on the next drive on a pass from Brett Hundley. His final stat line was just one catch for eight yards and a touchdown, but he was on the field for just two possessions, and only one with Rodgers. He’s a candidate for double-digit touchdowns in 2018.

Jimmy Graham caught 10 touchdowns in 2017, but didn’t look like the same player. He had 57 catches for only 520 yards, so perhaps the torn patellar tendon, as well as age (32 in November) are affecting his play. Graham is likely to be overdrafted, especially now that he’s paired with Aaron Rodgers.

Projected 2018 Fantasy Stats: 65 catches. 700 yards. 11 total TDs.
    Projected 2018 Fantasy Points: 134.
Projected 2018 PPR Fantasy Points: 199.

  5. Kyle Rudolph, TE, Vikings. Bye: 9.
JULY 21 UPDATE: Kirk Cousins really talked up Kyle Rudolph, telling the media that Rudolph is like “throwing to a mattress.” Minnesota’s new offense is very friendly to tight ends, so Rudolph should have a big year.

Kyle Rudolph’s receptions and yards have dropped from 83 to 57 and 840 to 532, respectively. However, he scored eight touchdowns in 2017, and he’s been in the end zone 15 times in the past two years. Rudolph should continue to be a middling TE1, even with the quarterback change.

Projected 2018 Fantasy Stats: 72 catches. 800 yards. 8 total TDs.
    Projected 2018 Fantasy Points: 128.
Projected 2018 PPR Fantasy Points: 200.

  6. Evan Engram, TE, Giants. Bye: 9.
AUG. 25 UPDATE: Evan Engram caught three of his four targets for 23 yards against the Jets. Unfortunately, he suffered a concussion on a collision in the red zone. He’ll have 16 days to clear concussion protocol in order to play versus the Jaguars.

Evan Engram had a great rookie campaign, catching 64 passes for 722 yards and six touchdowns. He was targeted heavily with Odell Beckham Jr. injured, but his great talent will allow him to continue to be a huge part of the offense with Beckham healthy again.

Projected 2018 Fantasy Stats: 73 catches. 850 yards. 7 total TDs.
    Projected 2018 Fantasy Points: 127.
Projected 2018 PPR Fantasy Points: 190.

  7. Greg Olsen, TE, Panthers. Bye: 4.
Greg Olsen missed most of the 2017 regular season, as he caught just 17 passes. However, he showed that he still has it, logging eight receptions for 107 yards and a touchdown in a playoff loss to the Saints. Olsen turns 33 this offseason, but he should still be a viable fantasy option for the next couple of years.

Projected 2018 Fantasy Stats: 68 catches. 900 yards. 6 total TDs.
    Projected 2018 Fantasy Points: 126.
Projected 2018 PPR Fantasy Points: 194.

  8. Trey Burton, TE, Bears. Bye: 5.
AUG. 22 UPDATE: Trey Burton is expected to challenge Chicago’s single-season franchise record for receiving yards from a tight end, according to the Chicago Tribune’s Brad Biggs. Beat reporters talk up players all the time, but this definitely seems legitimate, given how often Mitchell Trubisky targeted him in the second preseason game.

AUG. 19 UPDATE: Trey Burton saw a team-high six targets, as he and Mitchell Trubisky apparently have a tremendous rapport. Burton caught four of those passes for 45 yards and a touchdown. It’s also worth noting that the Bears’ other prominent tight end, Adam Shaheen, was carted into the locker room with an ankle injury. Burton’s fantasy stock arrow is pointing way up. Trey Burton is a matchup nightmare as a receiver-tight end hybrid. He thrived in the couple of games Zach Ertz missed. Burton signed with the Bears, where he’ll likely be utilized to his potential by offensive guru Matt Nagy.

Projected 2018 Fantasy Stats: 72 catches. 800 yards. 7 total TDs.
    Projected 2018 Fantasy Points: 122.
Projected 2018 PPR Fantasy Points: 194.

  9. David Njoku, TE, Browns. Bye: 11.
JULY 30 UPDATE: David Njoku has been enjoying an impressive training camp thus far, according to team reporter Jeff Risdon. In fact, Risdon said Njoku has had some “holy crap” moments. With an upgrade at quarterback, Njoku could produce low-end TE1 numbers. If you miss on all of the top tight ends, and there’s a run on the intermediate ones, Njoku is worth a look in Rounds 11-12.

David Njoku has great potential as a fantasy tight end this year, especially with the upgrade at quarterback. Njoku showed promise as a rookie, catching 32 passes for 386 yards and four touchdowns despite being paired with the inept DeShone Kizer.

Projected 2018 Fantasy Stats: 65 catches. 740 yards. 7 total TDs.
    Projected 2018 Fantasy Points: 116.
Projected 2018 PPR Fantasy Points: 181.

  10. George Kittle, TE, 49ers. Bye: 11.
If it wasn’t for Evan Engram, we’d all be talking about George Kittle’s impressive rookie year. Kittle caught 43 passes for 515 yards and two touchdowns this past season. Kittle showed great chemistry with Jimmy Garoppolo, and he seems poised for a strong 2018 campaign.

Projected 2018 Fantasy Stats: 64 catches. 760 yards. 6 total TDs.
    Projected 2018 Fantasy Points: 112.
Projected 2018 PPR Fantasy Points: 176.
