2018 Fantasy Football Rankings - Tight Ends (Sept. 5):
Top 10 | 11-20 | 21-45

  1. Delanie Walker, TE, Titans. Bye: 8.
Delanie Walker has been terrific for the Titans the past four seasons, but he turns 34 in August and may regress. He could still catch half-a-dozen touchdowns if Marcus Mariota rebounds, however. Walker had 74 catches for 807 yards in 2017.

Projected 2018 Fantasy Stats: 64 catches. 750 yards. 6 total TDs.
    Projected 2018 Fantasy Points: 111.
Projected 2018 PPR Fantasy Points: 175.

  2. Jordan Reed, TE, Redskins. Bye: 4.
Jordan Reed seemed to be mostly over his injuries in 2015 and 2016 when he missed just six combined games. However, 2017 was a lost season for him, as he took the field in just six contests. Reed has high upside, but can’t really be trusted.

Projected 2018 Fantasy Stats: 62 catches. 670 yards. 6 total TDs.
    Projected 2018 Fantasy Points: 109.
Projected 2018 PPR Fantasy Points: 171.

  3. Tyler Eifert, TE, Bengals. Bye: 9.
AUG. 27 UPDATE: Tyler Eifert entered the field on the second drive at Buffalo, which was remarkable in itself based on his extensive injury history. He caught a pass on the opening play of the third drive for an 11-yard gain. He was targeted twice more after that, but the passes were broken up. Still, it’s a positive that Eifert can play, and he’s well worth a pick in the double-digit rounds.

JULY 31 UPDATE: Tyler Eifert has passed his physical. He opened training camp on the PUP list, but has been cleared to practice. This is great news for the heavily injury-prone Eifert, though he still carries a major amount of risk. Don’t draft him early, but if you can get him as a TE2 with high upside in Rounds 11-12, definitely go for it.

MAY 30 UPDATE: Tyler Eifert told the media that he’s had no setbacks in his recovery. He’s reportedly moving at “half speed” right now, but it appears as though Eifert is on track to play in the opener.

Tyler Eifert has an extensive injury history – he has missed 40 games in the past four seasons – and he cannot be trusted. That said, spending a late-round pick on him isn’t the worst idea, as he has lots of potential if he can stay healthy.

Projected 2018 Fantasy Stats: 58 catches. 680 yards. 5 total TDs.
    Projected 2018 Fantasy Points: 108.
Projected 2018 PPR Fantasy Points: 166.

  4. Ricky Seals-Jones, TE, Cardinals. Bye: 9.
JULY 10 UPDATE: Cardinals reporter Mike Jurecki has been talking up Ricky Seals-Jones all offseason, citing that Seals-Jones will be a breakout player in 2018. When Jurecki talks about the Cardinals, you should definitely listen to him, as it’s impossible to find a better team reporter than Jurecki. What Jurecki is saying about Seals-Jones makes sense; Seals-Jones is very athletic and flashed at the end of last year. He’s a legit TE1 threat.

Jermaine Gresham is coming off a torn Achilles, so Ricky Seals-Jones will have an opportunity to be a big part of the offense in 2018. Seals-Jones, a former receiver, is athletic and had some solid performances as a rookie, including a 4-72-1 line versus Jacksonville.

Projected 2018 Fantasy Stats: 60 catches. 700 yards. 6 total TDs.
    Projected 2018 Fantasy Points: 106.
Projected 2018 PPR Fantasy Points: 166.

  5. O.J. Howard, TE, Buccaneers. Bye: 5.
O.J. Howard caught 26 passes for 432 yards and six touchdowns as a rookie. Most of his production came late in the year, so he certainly has a chance to post big numbers in his second season. Unfortunately for Howard’s outlook, Cameron Brate is still around, and Brate was paid a ton of money this offseason.

Projected 2018 Fantasy Stats: 51 catches. 680 yards. 6 total TDs.
    Projected 2018 Fantasy Points: 104.
Projected 2018 PPR Fantasy Points: 155.

  6. Ben Watson, TE, Ravens. Bye: 10.
AUG. 20 UPDATE: Ben Watson appears as though he’s still in the prime of his career, according to the New Orleans Advocate’s Joel Erickson. Watson has apparently been making “eye-popping, contested catches” throughout training camp. Puff pieces are commonplace during training camp season, but as a Hall of Fame running back once said, any good news is good news. Watson is one of many late-round fantasy tight ends you can obtain good value with.

Ben Watson turns 38 at some point in 2018. Despite this, he caught 61 passes this past season. Watson thrived in New Orleans the last time he was there, but the Saints don’t throw as much anymore.

Projected 2018 Fantasy Stats: 61 catches. 600 yards. 6 total TDs.
    Projected 2018 Fantasy Points: 96.
Projected 2018 PPR Fantasy Points: 157.

  7. Jake Butt, TE, Broncos. Bye: 10.
Jake Butt would’ve been a second-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft if it weren’t for a torn ACL that caused him to miss all of his rookie campaign. Butt has great potential, and he could be a star fantasy tight end at some point. Butt’s outlook brightened in the wake of the Case Keenum signing.

Projected 2018 Fantasy Stats: 49 catches. 580 yards. 5 total TDs.
    Projected 2018 Fantasy Points: 95.
Projected 2018 PPR Fantasy Points: 143.

  8. Vance McDonald, TE, Steelers. Bye: 7.
Vance McDonald barely did anything in the regular season because he battled knee injuries. However, we saw him show off his potential in the divisional-round loss to the Jaguars in which he caught 10 passes for 112 yards. McDonald is a nice buy-low sleeper option for 2018.

Projected 2018 Fantasy Stats: 55 catches. 710 yards. 4 total TDs.
    Projected 2018 Fantasy Points: 95.
Projected 2018 PPR Fantasy Points: 150.

  9. Eric Ebron, TE, Colts. Bye: 9.
Eric Ebron’s overall stats in 2017 weren’t great – 53 catches, 574 yards, four touchdowns – but most of that came at the end. In his final seven games, he caught at least four passes in all but one contest. He even had 10 receptions for 94 yards at Tampa. This bodes well for 2018, especially if Andrew Luck is healthy.

Projected 2018 Fantasy Stats: 57 catches. 640 yards. 5 total TDs.
    Projected 2018 Fantasy Points: 94.
Projected 2018 PPR Fantasy Points: 151.

  10. Mike Gesicki, TE, Dolphins. Bye: 11.
AUG. 4 UPDATE: Kerryon Johnson has been praised for his pass protection, which is important for his rookie-year usage. Also, Jeff Risdon, who covers the Lions, called Johnson “legit.” The rookie runner’s stock is definitely pointing up.

JUNE 10 UPDATE: Mike Gesicki has looked “lost at times” during OTAs, according to the Miami Herald’s Adam Beasley. Rookie tight ends are already risky enough, so this is another reason to stay away from Gesicki this year.

I’m usually not a fan of drafting rookie tight ends, but the Dolphins didn’t have a tight end on their roster prior to selecting the athletic Mike Gesicki in the second round, so he’ll start right away.

Projected 2018 Fantasy Stats: 52 catches. 590 yards. 5 total TDs.
    Projected 2018 Fantasy Points: 94.
Projected 2018 PPR Fantasy Points: 146.
