Rank: 18 Previously: 12
The Packers lost some key players this offseason – Rashan Gary, Romeo Doubs, Rasheed Walker – and it’s unclear if Micah Parsons will be 100 percent coming off a torn ACL. It’s fair to be bearish on Green Bay’s chances this year, especially with Detroit due to rebound.

Walt’s Team Needs Assessment

Needs
Expectations were sky high for the Packers once they traded for Micah Parsons in August. It looked like they’d have a great chance to make a Super Bowl run, but Parsons and other players suffered injuries late in the year.
  • Two Defensive Tackles: The Packers have one of the weakest defensive interiors in the NFL. Two new defensive tackles are needed. Signed Javon Hargrave
  • Two Cornerbacks: The Packers had weak play at cornerback outside of Keisean Nixon. They’ll need two new cornerbacks. Signed Benjamin St-Juste
  • Two Guards: Green Bay’s guard play was poor last year. Perhaps Jordan Morgan will get another chance because he’s a former first-round pick, but at least one guard should be acquired.
  • Left Tackle: Rasheed Walker is a former seventh-round rookie who emerged as a great pass-blocking left tackle. He’s an impending free agent who must be re-signed.
  • Center: The Packers have had issues at center for a while, and that persisted last year.
  • Linebacker: Quay Walker is an impending free agent who needs to be re-signed or replaced.
  • Backup Quarterback: Malik Willis is as good as gone, so the Packers will need a new backup quarterback.
  • Kicker: Brandon McManus was a disaster in the playoff loss to the Bears.

Walt’s 2026 NFL Draft – Overall Team Grade and Selection Grades

Draft Review
Walt’s Draft Grade: B Grade
Walt’s Grade Summary
The Packers didn’t seem to agree that they needed to bolster their offensive line. They spent just one pick on a blocker, and it wasn’t even an early one. Their fifth-round choice was on center Jager Burton, and that was it.

Green Bay spent its energy upgrading its defense instead. Its top pick was a great value in cornerback Brandon Cisse, and then the Packers went to work on the front seven, selecting Chris McClelan and Dani Dennis-Sutton with their next two choices. Both were strong selections who should be able to bolster the pass rush, which had to be addressed in the wake of Rashan Gary’s departure.

Even though the Packers didn’t attack the offensive line, they still had a fairly solid draft class. They acquired some talented defenders, but they really could have used at least one more pick on an offensive lineman.

Draft Picks / Prospect Links
Pick 52
A
Brandon Cisse, CB, South Carolina
Brandon Cisse, CB, South Carolina
CB South Carolina
I love this value. Brandon Cisse should have been a first-round pick with his size, athleticism, and talent. He’s a bit raw, but I don’t think he’s that undeveloped. I’ll be surprised if he’s not a good starter for the Packers sometime soon.
Pick 77
B
Chris McClellan, DT, Missouri
DT Missouri
Rnk: 73
The Packers moved up seven spots to address the defensive line, which was a must because Micah Parsons didn’t have much help. McClellan has impressive quickness for his size, and he makes sense in the middle of the third round.
Pick 120
A-
Dani Dennis-Sutton, DE, Penn State
DE Penn State
Rnk: 66
Rashan Gary is gone, while Micah Parsons is coming off an injury, so pass-rushing depth had to be acquired. Dani Dennis-Sutton has a lot of untapped potential. There’s downside with him, but a lot of upside, so I thought he definitely could have gone earlier than this.
Pick 153
B
Jager Burton, C, Kentucky
C Kentucky
Rnk: 529
Jager Burton is a quality pass protector, and the Packers needed to continue to beef up their offensive line. I like that Burton can play both center and guard.
Pick 201
B
Domani Jackson, CB, Alabama
Domani Jackson, CB, Alabama
CB Alabama
Domani Jackson was highly touted entering college, but disappointed. He has upside, however, so maybe the Packers can mold him into a quality player. He makes sense here at No. 201.
Pick 216
C+
Trey Smack, K, Florida
K Florida
Rnk: 448
The Packers have needed a kicker for a while. This is a fine place to take one, but this selection will never be exciting unless the kicker can hit 70-yard field goals.
