Each offseason brings change to NFL rosters, and those changes often have fantasy implications. Below, I lay out the changes at the skill positions and how those moves impact the fantasy status of the new roster.

2017
    QB: Aaron Rodgers, Brett Hundley
RB: Jamaal Williams, Ty Montgomery, Aaron Jones
WR: Davante Adams, Randall Cobb, Jordy Nelson, Geronimo Allison
TE: Lance Kendricks, Richard Rogers, Martellus Bennett

2018
    QB: Aaron Rodgers, DeShone Kizer
RB: Jamaal Williams, Ty Montgomery, Aaron Jones
WR: Davante Adams, Randall Cobb, Geronimo Allison, Equanimeous St. Brown, J’Mon Moore, Marquez Valdes-Scantling
    TE: Jimmy Graham, Lance Kendricks

Pre-Draft Offseason:

The biggest move for the offense is getting Aaron Rodgers back and healthy. He was very much his normal elite self when healthy last season, and there’s no reason to think he won’t be back as the No. 1 fantasy quarterback.

Rodgers did lose one of his favorite targets when the Packers let Jordy Nelson go. Nelson still would have been productive with Rodgers throwing him the ball, but it has become apparent that he is on the downside of his career and Davante Adams had surpassed him as the No. 1 receiver. The void left will be a real one, but the Packers did well is signing Jimmy Graham, who is also on the downside of his career but will help fill the red-zone target-leader job that Nelson had when Rodgers was playing last year. Graham has slowed down, but he can still win near the goal line, and I know I keep harping on it, but Rodgers is the best possible quarterback to help Graham close in on another 10-touchdown season.

The Packers also grabbed DeShone Kizer in what could be an underrated move. They learned their lesson with Brett Hundley’s awful play in relief of Rodgers, and Kizer, despite a million turnovers last season, has more upside than Hundley and should do well learning behind Rodgers.

Post-Draft Update

The Packers went all-in on defense in the 2018 NFL Draft, with a focus on their woeful secondary. Their first two picks were cornerbacks, and their third was a linebacker, Oren Burks, who also has played multiple positions, including safety. There is no doubt that Green Bay’s pass defense is going to improve with Jaire Alexander and Josh Jackson, which could hurt Aaron Rodgers’ upside, but this is still Aaron Rodgers and he’s going to do his thing.

Green Bay also loaded up on wide receivers midway and late in the draft, grabbing three total. Equanimeous St. Brown was actually the last player they picked, but he also holds the most upside if he can transition to the NFL well. But the Packers did spend the most draft capital on J’Mon Moore out of Missouri. We can’t expect any of these receivers to put up numbers this season, but it doesn’t hurt to grab Packers receivers in rookie dynasty drafts.

2018 Fantasy Outlook:

Stud: Aaron Rodgers, DaVante Adams

Solid: Jimmy Graham

Sleeper: Aaron Jones
