Each offseason brings change to NFL rosters, and those changes often have fantasy implications. Below, I lay out the changes at the skill positions and how those moves impact the fantasy status of the new roster.

2017
    QB: Russell Wilson, Austin Davis
RB: Thomas Rawls, Eddie Lacy, Chris Carson, C.J. Prosise, J.D. McKissic, Mike Davis
WR: Doug Baldwin, Paul Richardson, Tyler Lockett, Tanner McEvoy
    TE: Jimmy Graham, Luke Willson

2018
    QB: Russell Wilson, Austin Davis
RB: Rashaad Penny, Chris Carson, C.J. Prosise, J.D. McKissic, Mike Davis
WR: Doug Baldwin, Tyler Lockett, Jaron Brown, Amara Darboh, Tanner McEvoy
TE: Ed Dickson, Nick Vannett, Will Dissly

Pre-Draft Offseason:

Right now, on paper, the Seahawks look like the third best team in the NFC West, and they’ve done nothing this offseason to start filling the many holes. They did let Eddie Lacy and Thomas Rawls walk, which didn’t take much thought, but getting their running game in working order starts with cutting the fat. Seattle also lost Paul Richardson to free agency, which was a real loss, as the roster is weak at the position. The Seahawks did grab Jaron Brown from the Cardinals, but he is more of a role player and not a replacement for Richardson.

The Seahawks also let Jimmy Graham walk, which I don’t think is the worst move ever due to money and Graham slowing down, but they also don’t have a good replacement for him unless you think Ed Dickson can turn into a different person soon.

The acquisition of Duane Brown during the season last year was the best move Seattle has made in a long while and one that helped bring the offensive line together despite plenty of weaknesses still. If the Seahawks can keep Russell Wilson protected, they have a chance to beat just about any team.

Post-Draft Update

Seattle surprised everyone by taking running back Rashaad Penny out of San Diego State with the 27th-overall pick. Like Saquon Barkley, no matter what you think of Seattle’s strategy here, the player is going to have plenty of opportunity and is talented enough to take advantage. Coach Pete Carrol has already said that Penny will be a three-down back, which is huge for his fantasy value. It will take some work to turn around Seattle’s horrid rushing attack, but Penny has the ability to do just that.

After Penny, Seattle did take a tight end with the 120th-overall pick, but Will Dissly out of Washington is very much a blocking tight end, which is good for Ed Dickson’s prospects and should help Russell Wilson and the run game. The Seahawks also added Ohio State’s Jamarco Jones to the offensive line in the fifth round. He fell due to his measurables at the combine, but his tape shows a solid player who should add depth to this group.

2018 Fantasy Outlook:

Stud: Russell Wilson

Solid: Doug Baldwin, Rashaad Penny

Sleeper: Tyler Lockett, Ed Dickson
