Close game but i'll take the points here. Skins play everyone close even when they dominate games. They really move the ball well between the 20's but make a lot of mistakes and have crappy play calls when in close. there receivers are small and need space. Fred Davis (TE) is the only threat you need to take away when in close and the coaches don't call his # much when in there .......

The rams will lay down "more" than the redskins as both teams are going into the bye. The rams have increasingly, less and less to play for.

That's way too far back to go to make anything of a trend. The last time the Redskins lost to the Cowboys on Monday night it was 2004. That was 7 years, 4 quarterbacks and 2 coaches ago. The only significant contributor to that team who's still with the Redskins is Chris Cooley. Oh, and that was one time in 31 years that Redskins lost the following week. So, you have to go back even further for this trend to be positive.

I see the fact that last year the Redskins won a game as underdogs after their Monday night loss to the Eagles as more significant than their 6-1 over 31 years.

That doesn't seem like a good enough excuse, he needs to pay attention on plays like that. By the way, I will be betting on the Rams this week. I just see it as a smaller play. The line moved from a pick to Redskins by 2 yesterday. I'm hoping it moves some more. If the line starts to move back or I'm able to get the Rams with 3 points I'll take it immediately. I just see it as a 2 or 3 unit play.

Scott your right that cadillac did not attempt to go for the backwards lateral but i think he thought it skipped out of bounds like most would but the ball hit his leg and it rolled along the side line, but i give Bradford props for attempting to run him down.

I don't know what it is ATS, but since 1980 Redskins are 6-1 following MNF loss to Cowboys.

Another reason not to go crazy on the Rams, depending on your opinion of Mike Shanahan, is good coaches record ATS after monday night losses. It's true that teams generally come out flat after a MNF loss, but a good coach tend to mute this somewhat. I looked at Mike Smith, Rex Ryan, Mike Shanahan, Mike McCarthy, John Harbaugh, Bill Bellichick, Jon Gruden, Tony Dungy, Tom Coughlin, Sean Payton, Andy Reid, Brian Billick, John Fox, Bill Parcells, and Bill Cowher in the post MNF loss over the past 5 years. They are 12-15-3 ATS, which is significantly better the field. Also, they're 16-14 straight up in these, which is relevant since this spread is basically a pick 'em.

Shanahan, by the way is 2-1 in these situations over the past 5 years, including once with the Redskins. They came off their embarrassing loss, where every fantasy owner who started Mike Vick won their matchup to find themselves as 7 point underdogs to the titans. The Redskins won that game 19-16.

You'd have to be crazy to bet big units on the Rams. On Monday night against the Giants, Cadillac Williams made no attempt to pick up a backwards lateral he dropped that went for a TD the other way. The only explanation is that apparently he didn't know a backwards lateral is a fumble.

In the same game, down by 12 with a 1:41 left and no timeouts the Rams punted. I realize that it was extremely unlikely for them to win that game regardless of what they did, but that game took giving up to the next level.

That said, I kind of feel like the Rams are the right play (I'd wait till later in the week as I think the spread will move, with the Skins being 2 or 2.5 point favorites later in the week. There's just no way I'd lay big units on a team with a low football IQ that gives up while the game is still in reach.

The Skins are one frustrating team. The Rams are really playing well below the expections they had heaped upon them before the 2011 season began. I think the Skins find a way to win a close one.
