Sunday Smackdown: Cardinals at Ravens
|
Welcome to the new Sunday Smackdown section, a place for you to talk trash and discuss each individual NFL game during the week leading up to it and while the game is going on.
Unlike NFL.com's GameCenter, almost anything goes here. Certain words - the obvious ones - are bleeped out, but everything else is allowed and encouraged.

For the record they could give the public these two games Saints and Giants and would then take Browns, Redskins and Steelers to stay ahead. But this year I have a read on them. They like to take the most bet on game. Just a trend. They can switch it up at any time. But so far this year it's a pretty solid trend.

Good luck to you too. This is much more fun to me than a boring stock market. I don't really pay much attention to the stock market and it always seems to be going down. I do OK with sports betting.
its much more of a rush for me when the scores are coming in and the games are all winding down. You can't get that with the stock market (I don't think) Check out my post last week for Packers/Vikings game. I was spot on. This week it looks like the fix will be in on Miami/Giants. check out my post on that one too.It looks to me as though miami covers in this one. If they don't then its almost certain that the Rams cover. It's highly unlikely they give the public both these games. It would then be very difficult for them to show a profit without running the table on the majority of the other games. With my "Ram Rule" in effect (fade the Rams until they prove they can cover TWICE) Then it looks like 'Fins are the right play. (Seattle already won in meadowlands this year so it's not out of the question for miami to at least cover) It's not a 50/50 shot the game is fixed. It's 100% fixed. Therefore, knowing that, I feel it gives me an edge because i bet the games accordingly.so it's not insanity. Like I said, i do OK. It's by no means easy. It's challenging to say the least. But it sure is nice cashing tickets for like $2,500!!! Let's see how my "theory" holds water this weekend that theres no way the Saints and Giants both cover. It could happen. They can certainly afford to give the public a bone once in a while and just win it back in the long run. But it's highly unlikely from how I see how these things are allowed to play out. They've given plenty of bones already this year. It's time for them to make some money.

@Patriot123: I find it astounding that an obvious intelligent person such as yourself, truly believes that not only a game is fixed in the NFL but GAMES, plural. If you truly believe that any game you play could be fixed, doesn't that make you insane when you put down "coin" on NFL games??? A smart guy such as yourself, if you truly believe in the fix conspiracy... wouldn't you be much better off playing the stock market??? You know high yield high dividend stocks?? HARD ENOUGH BEATING THE SPREAD, NOW YOU HAVE TO TAKE A 50 50 SHOT ON THE GAME BEING FIXED??? We will have to again, agree to disagree on this matter. Good luck to you this Sunday sir.

hmmm...So Jags are a a good team? NOT!
and just because we know the games are fixed (why do you think Walt calls it the vegas edge) We try to be on the right side and cash some tickets. Even though its fixed there still will be "results" every week. It's sport to me to try and figure out how they are going to fix them. Occationally they "let" the public win a week here and there. (They can afford to do this once in a while, then they win it all back plus some the rest of the year) This allows public perception to think it's real, legit and not entirely controlled by the puppetmasters. It's their game, their teams and their media and their league. They own and control it all. Its highly compartmentalized so not even all the players are 100% sure of it. A good and standard week for the books is 7-6. Usually one of the 7 will be one of the most lopsided contests and/or the most heavily bet contest, which is why I took Vikes last week and won. Each week they usually let the public win a little less than half. this keeps them betting and keeps the sharps who know its fixed from just fading the public every game. The "sport" is to try and figure which games will be fixed which way. It's not an easy thing to do. If you try and corner them, they can switch and give the public a game and take another one instead. FOLLOW THE MONEY. If it were real, they would have went out of business a long time ago. Fixing sports contests is nothing new. It's been a lucrative family business for a very ,very long time. research the Chicago black sox! And I suppose you never heard of fighters taking dives or horses being shot up with drugs just before posts. The love of money is the root of all evil. You would be a fool to think football would somehow be exempt from worldly corruption. Once these players are drafted and made multi-millionaires they are indoctrinated with the thinking that they are no longer just athletes competing in a game but that they are now entertainers providing fans with "ENTERTAINMENT!!" Thats why it really doesnt bother them win or lose. They entertained and got their huge entertainer check!!Words to the wise...critisize my post if you may but try to see things from the "books" point of view and then bet accordingly. What makes this even more sophisticated and more difficult to handicap is the over-unders and moneyline bets and exotic bets, parlays etc. all figured in to the equation. They can give the public a point line bet but win it back and then some with the moneyline bets and the over/under on the same game. Good luck! Have fun, be entertained and try to win some money.

flacco is hot game 1-4 every year. sucks mid season. blows it big in the end. Patriot 123. Jax is a good team. IF the owner wasnt a dick and canned garrard they could be a division lead. BALT doesnt have a receiver over 6'1 i can think of. Boldin is all hands n under 15 yrds. Most AZ linebacks are under 240lbs. I think 4 back. unlike PIT with deep receivers. i see flacco throwing picks on zones and getting stressed in the pocket. Rice will have to save the day. I think AZ will short pass the hell out the sidelines with underweight RB's and keep a close game. Under 43

Folks let's get away from the "fix" conspiracy crap... Okay??? Baltimore was flat on the road and the Jags defense played out of their minds. Flacco on the road for the vast majority of his career, has been 'vanilla" to say the least. When big chalks win, but don't cover, then every once in a while you can raise an eyebrow. 99 percent of the time there is no "fix." If you truly disagree with that. I have one question. What the hell are you doing wagering on sports??!!!! Baltimore gets this one 27 to 13.

I would assumed the secret info is just Beanie Wells seems set to play. Since that was one of his reasons against 'Zona, I would assume that would change his thinking.

Ravens put up 38 against the Steelers and we are supposed to believe they could only muster up 7 against the lowly Jags in front of a national audience?
