Keon Sabb Prospect Preview

By Charlie Campbell

Career Recap:

Sabb started out his career at Michigan, and he helped the Wolverines win the National Championship as a freshman. He impressed with two interceptions, four passes broken up, and 28 tackles. After the season, he transferred to Alabama and was even better with the Crimson Tide despite playing injured virtually all season. Sabb totaled 39 stops with two interceptions and four passes broken up.

2025 Season Outlook:

The best games to watch Sabb include Georgia (Sep. 27), Tennessee (Oct. 18), South Carolina (Oct. 25), LSU (Nov. 8), Oklahoma (Nov. 15), and Auburn (Nov. 29).

Prospect Summary:

In the passing-driven NFL, teams are always looking for interchangeable safeties who can help the team in pass coverage and run defense. After two solid seasons to start his college career, Sabb is showing that kind of potential for the next level. For starters, he has a good combination of size and speed to match up against NFL receivers. If Sabb has a big 2025 season, he could become a hot prospect and one of the top safeties for the 2026 NFL Draft.

As one could expect coming from a Jim Harbaugh Michigan team and Alabama, Sabb is a good run defender and is very physical. He is a tough tackler and is willing to come downhill into the box. Sabb will wrap up and put ball carriers into the turf with some violence. He shows a tad bit of stiffness in space, so improving his ability to break down and take the optimum angle will help him as a run defender.

In pass coverage, Sabb shows the ability to play strong or free safety in the NFL. He has good instincts and uses his speed to cover a lot of ground on the backend. Sabb reads plays well and makes good decisions on where to break in zone coverage. He is a little high in his backpedal and could stand to improve his bend, but he has good enough speed to play man against slot receivers with the size to help defend tight ends and big wideouts. Sabb plays the ball well and shows nice instincts on when to time his contact. As a strong safety, he is a nice zone defender in the intermediate part of the field. Sabb has some things to clean up, but the potential is there for him to be a well-rounded defender.

Along with having starting potential for the NFL, Sabb could be a core special teams player as he has the speed, toughness, and instincts to play on teams.

2026 NFL Draft Expectations:

Entering the 2025 season, Sabb looks like he has early-round potential for the 2026 NFL Draft.
