Kayden Proctor Prospect Preview

By Charlie Campbell

Career Recap:

Over the past two seasons, Proctor has been a steady and reliable blocker for the Crimson Tide. After being a top recruit, he broke into the starting lineup in 2023 as a freshman. He did a nice job of protecting Jalen Milroe and helping Alabama reach the college football playoff. Proctor had some struggles with Michigan, and after the season, it seemed as though he was going to leave for money in the transfer portal. Eventually, Proctor was back at Alabama and had a solid 2024 season for the Crimson Tide.

2025 Season Outlook:

Proctor is going to see a tough schedule of talented defensive lines in 2025. The best games to watch him in could include Florida State (Aug. 30), Georgia (Sep. 27), South Carolina (Oct. 25), and Auburn (Nov. 29). As long as the players stay healthy, it will be a great tape to study from the Iron Bowl when Proctor takes on Tigers star defensive lineman Keldric Faulk.

Prospect Summary:

The NFL is always looking for quarterback protectors and starting edge protectors, and Proctor has that type of talent for the next level. He is a massive blocker on the edge with height, length, weight, and strength. For the next level, Proctor might want to drop some weight to improve his conditioning, quickness, and agility, but there is no doubt that he has a good skill set to develop.

As a run blocker, Proctor is a load at the point of attack. Defensive linemen get overwhelmed by their mass, and he is steady to keep their defender from getting in on tackles. Off the ball, Proctor can blast defensive linemen and knock them backwards to create movement at the point of attack. Proctor has the power to open holes and roll defenders backwards off the line of scrimmage. He is very good in short-yardage situations at resetting the line of scrimmage, and Alabama has success going behind Proctor in obvious run downs. Proctor also shows some ability to fire to the second level, and pull to his right. Proctor is not an elite mover, and he lumbers some in space. However, he has enough movement to get to spots and will dish out a violent hit or shove on second-level defenders. Proctor looks like a plus run blocker for the next level.

In pass protection, Proctor uses his size well to neutralize bull rushes. He has a propensity to play a little too high and needs to improve his ability to bend at the knee, but his mass is so tough to move that even when his positioning is not perfect, defensive linemen struggle to win on a bull rush. Proctor could stand to improve his hand placement to improve his ability to sustain blocks. Proctor did okay against speed rushers in 2024, but he needs to improve his kick slide for taking on the NFL speed that will come at him every week as a pro.

Proctor looks like he could play left tackle in the NFL and be adequate, but this analyst thinks Proctor would be a better and more dominant player if he were at right tackle or guard.

2026 NFL Draft Expectations:

Entering the 2025 season, Proctor looks like he has first-round potential for the 2026 NFL Draft.
