Rank: 13 Previously: 10
Everything is pretty much status quo for the Broncos compared to last year, save for the Jaylen Waddle trade. The Broncos were praised for this move, but Waddle has underwhelmed the past few seasons, even when Tyreek Hill was injured. I’m not a believer in this Denver team, but another playoff appearance seems likely.

Walt’s Team Needs Assessment

Needs
The Broncos scraped by a number of mediocre or worse teams throughout the entirety of the 2025 NFL season. They somehow landed the No. 1 seed in the process, but lost Drew Lock in the initial playoff victory.
  • Defensive Lineman: John Franklin-Myers is Denver’s top impending free agent. He’ll be missed if he departs.
  • Inside Linebacker: Two key linebackers – Alex Singleton and Justin Strnad – are set to hit free agency. One will have to be retained. If not, a replacement will be needed next to Dre Greenlaw. Re-signed Alex Singleton and Justin Strnad
  • Guard: Ben Powers is the sole weak point on the offensive line, so the Broncos may want to add another guard.
  • Running Back: R.J. Harvey is an explosive player, but he’s not a very good runner. The Broncos could stand to at least add a complement this offseason. Re-signed J.K. Dobbins
  • Fullback: Michael Burton was sorely missed last year after he suffered a hamstring injury.

Walt’s 2026 NFL Draft – Overall Team Grade and Selection Grades

Draft Review
Walt’s Draft Grade: B Grade
Walt’s Grade Summary
Thanks to a couple of trades, the Broncos didn’t make a selection until the third day of the 2026 NFL Draft. They’re difficult to grade for that reason, but it must be noted that of their seven selections made on Day 3, only one scored worse than a “B” grade.

Denver spent the third day addressing its needs. It acquired a potential replacement for John Franklin-Myers with Tyler Onyedim. R.J. Harvey was then potentially upgraded via the Jonah Coleman selection. Justin Joly, chosen in the fifth round, could be the type of Joker tight end Sean Payton has been looking for during his tenure with the Broncos.

I can’t grade the Broncos very highly because the chances of them landing an impact player for 2026 are slim because of when they acquired their prospects. However, there’s definitely some promise to this draft class, and Denver did well with the limited resources it possessed entering the 2026 NFL Draft.

Draft Picks / Prospect Links
Pick 66
B
Tyler Onyedim, DT, Texas A&M
DT Texas A&M
Rnk: 338
This is a fine pick. The Broncos lost a valuable defensive lineman, so it makes sense for them to find a replacement. Tyler Onyedim doesn’t really produce much of a pass rush, but he’s stout against the run.
Pick 108
A
Jonah Coleman, RB, Washington
Jonah Coleman, RB, Washington
RB Washington
Jonah Coleman is a quick running back with a strong build. I was a fan, and thought he could have gone as high as No. 64. R.J. Harvey was a huge disappointment last year, and so Coleman could be an upgrade.
Pick 111
B+
Kage Casey, OT, Boise State
OT Boise State
Rnk: 60
The Broncos have to protect Bo Nix, and Kage Casey can begin his career as a swing tackle because he can play left and right tackle. I had Casey going at the end of the third round, so there’s a bit of value with this pick.
Pick 152
A+
Justin Joly, TE, N.C. State
TE N.C. State
Rnk: 381
The Broncos were interested in a tight end earlier, and they could have taken this tight end earlier. Justin Joly is a great athlete with outstanding hands, but he’s undersized and doesn’t block well. Still, he could fill Sean Payton’s Joker role and be a great weapon.
Pick 246
B+
Miles Scott, S, Illinois
S Illinois
Rnk: 0
Miles Scott is a physical safety with some decent instincts. He was seen as a sleeper by some. This is a solid selection by the Broncos.
Pick 256
C
Dallen Bentley, TE, Utah
TE Utah
Rnk: 0
Dallen Bentley has plus size with good receiving ability, but he’s not a great athlete and doesn’t block well. There’s not much upside here, which is what you want in Round 7.
Pick 257
B+
Red Murdock, LB, Buffalo
LB Buffalo
Rnk: 0
Red Murdock is a strong tackler, but struggles to cover. He could potentially be a two-down linebacker down the road, but will have to make the team via special teams. I had him as a sixth-round pick, so this is a quality selection with the final pick of the 2026 NFL Draft.
