2016 Fantasy Football Stock Report – Week of May 30

June 6

T.J. Yeldon, RB, Jaguars
T.J. Yeldon has been working extra hard on his physique this offseason, per Ryan O’Halloran, Florida Times-Union. He said that he’s now a “good 225.” Perhaps the signing of Chris Ivory motivated Yeldon, who appears to be ready for a great 2016 season.

June 5

Jay Ajayi, RB, Dolphins
Adam Gase told the media that Jay Ajayi needs to work on his pass protection. This is important, especially with Kenyan Drake ahead of Ajayi in that department. This could be one of the reasons the Dolphins choose Drake to be their starter.

Crockett Gillmore, TE, Ravens
Crockett Gillmore is ahead of schedule in his recovery from a shoulder injury. It appears as though he’ll be ready to go soon, but he’ll have to fight three other tight ends for targets.

June 4

Sam Bradford, QB, Eagles
Doug Pederson told the media that barring injury, Sam Bradford will be the Week 1 starter. We’ll see. Coaches have made such declarations before, most recently Jay Gruden with Robert Griffin last year. Bradford is behind the playbook, and he undoubtedly has lost some of the locker room with his whiny attitude.

Jared Cook, TE, Packers
Jared Cook will miss the rest of OTAs because of foot surgery. Not a good start to his stint with the Packers. Cook could be back for the season opener, but he could aggravate his injury. He’s only a late-round flier at best.

Jordan Matthews, WR, Eagles
Chet Gresham discussed why Jordan Matthews playing inside this year could have a negative impact on his fantasy season in the “nflrumors”>Fantasy Football News Report page.

June 3

Julian Edelman, WR, Patriots
Sources are confident Julian Edelman will be ready for training camp, per Tom Curran, CSN NE. This is obviously great news for the Patriots, though it’ll be difficult to depend on the brittle Edelman to stay healthy. He’s a risky fantasy pick, but if you can get him late enough in your draft, go for it.

Bruce Ellington, WR, 49ers
It might be time to consider Bruce Ellington to be a legitimate fantasy football sleeper. He’s been running with the first team at OTAs. Chet Gresham made a great point in the “nflrumors”>Fantasy Football News Report page: “Ellington is in as the slot receiver in practices, which is a great spot in a Chip Kelly run offense. This is the same position Jordan Matthews put up nice numbers in Philadelphia over the last two seasons. Ellington needs to be on your fantasy radar.”

Jordy Nelson, WR, Packers
Jordy Nelson has declared himself to be “game ready.” It’s obviously great news that Nelson says he’d be ready to play a game right now. With three more months to recover, Nelson should be 100 percent by the season opener.

June 2

Davante Adams, WR, Packers
Mike McCarthy praised Davante Adams’ offseason work. So far, so good for Adams. It would be nice for Adams to rebound, as he was dreadful in 2015, so one thing is for sure: If you want to draft him, you can get him.

Tajae Sharpe, WR, Titans
Tajae Sharpe has been getting first-team reps at OTAs, according to Terry McCormick, Titan Insider. The fifth-round rookie is using his route-running skills to his advantage. He doesn’t have a difficult depth chart to climb, though he can still be ignored in re-draft leagues. He’s someone to monitor though.

June 1

Sammie Coates, WR, Steelers
Sammie Coates has been “working out like crazy” and the coaches are talking him up, per Ed Bouchette, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. It’s believed that Coates will be the primary player to benefit from Martavis Bryant’s suspension. Coates is off to a good start apparently, and he’s definitely a sleeper at the moment.

DeSean Jackson, WR, Redskins
DeSean Jackson has skipped most of OTAs. It’s completely voluntary, but he missed out on a $500,000 bonus in the process. It doesn’t appear that Jackson is taking what might be his final year in Washington very seriously.

Thomas Rawls, RB, Seahawks
Thomas Rawls likely won’t play in the preseason, according to Sheil Kapadia, ESPN. As Chet Gresham wrote, “[That] would mean he’s not getting a ton of good reps through training camp. It’s a good opportunity for Christine Michael, Alex Collins and C.J. Prosise, but unless he has a set back, Rawls will be the lead back when he’s ready.” I completely agree with Rawls being the favorite to start, but this just shows that he’s not a slam-dunk running back pick.

May 31

Sam Bradford, QB, Eagles
Carson Wentz is further ahead in Doug Pederson’s playbook than Sam Bradford, per Matt Lombardo, NJ.com. This is more of a warning to stay away from Bradford than a reason to take Wentz. Pederson likely doesn’t want to use Wentz early on, so if Bradford continues to struggle – whining about the Wentz trade hasn’t done him any favors – Chase Daniel will probably start the beginning of the 2016 campaign. This is a situation to avoid in fantasy.

May 30

Mike Evans, WR, Buccaneers
Mike Evans has been training and watching film frequently with Jameis Winston this offseason. Evans had a sophomore slump packed with tons of drops. There was some concern about his work ethic, but he has tried to make amends for that this offseason.

Matt Forte, RB, Jets
Matt Forte could be used as a slot receiver at times this year, according to Rich Cimini, ESPN. The Jets don’t have a viable third receiver, so it sounds as though Forte will serve as one on third downs. Forte has great PPR potential.

Jameis Winston, QB, Buccaneers
Jameis Winston has been focusing on losing weight to avoid a sophomore slump. Credit Winston for staying out of trouble in Tampa’s crazy party environment. It’s great to see Winston putting in hard work, so he should have a solid 2016 campaign as a result.
