2015 Fantasy Football Rankings - Quarterbacks (Sept. 10):
Top 10 | 11-20 | 21-35

  1. Andy Dalton, QB, Bengals. Bye: 7.
Andy Dalton took a major step backward from a fantasy perspective, seeing his yardage drop from 4,296 to 3,398. A hobbled receiving corps didn’t help matters, but Dalton mediocrity was simply exposed. The Bengals will rely on the run much more next year with Jeremy Hill emerging, so Dalton is just a reserve fantasy quarterback at best.

Projected 2015 Fantasy Stats: 3,700 passing yards. 24 passing TDs. 17 INTs. 160 rushing yards. 2 rushing TDs.
Projected 2015 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 238.

  2. Alex Smith, QB, Chiefs. Bye: 9.
It’s no accident that Alex Smith failed to throw a touchdown to a receiver last season, as he is just a mediocre quarterback – both in real life and in fantasy.

Projected 2015 Fantasy Stats: 3,200 passing yards. 20 passing TDs. 8 INTs. 330 rushing yards. 1 rushing TD.
Projected 2015 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 231.

  3. Tyrod Taylor, QB, Bills. Bye: 8.
AUG. 31 UPDATE: The Bills have named Tyrod Taylor their starting quarterback. He can be started in 2-QB leagues because he’ll pick up big-time rushing numbers. He’s a backup with upside otherwise.

It appears as though Tyrod Taylor will start for the Bills. He’s a QB2 option because of his scrambling ability.

Projected 2015 Fantasy Stats: 2,400 passing yards. 13 passing TDs. 10 INTs. 550 rushing yards. 5 rushing TDs.
Projected 2015 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 223.

  4. Carson Palmer, QB, Cardinals. Bye: 9.
Carson Palmer tore his ACL last season, but is expected to be ready for training camp. That’s great, but Palmer is now 35 and might not be the same quarterback. He wasn’t a good fantasy option to begin with. His upside is a solid bye-week filler, depending on the matchup.

Projected 2015 Fantasy Stats: 3,800 passing yards. 22 passing TDs. 14 INTs. 20 rushing yards. 0 rushing TDs.
Projected 2015 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 214.

  5. Jay Cutler, QB, Bears. Bye: 7.
Jay Cutler was the primary reason for Chicago’s implosion last year; the Don’t Care Bear is a heartless football player who doesn’t give a damn whether he wins or loses. He got Marc Trestman fired, despite the fact that Trestman got the most out of him in 2013. It’s difficult to imagine Cutler having success with the unimaginative and conservative John Fox. It also must be noted that Cutler hasn’t played a full, 16-game season since 2009.

Projected 2015 Fantasy Stats: 3,300 passing yards. 23 passing TDs. 17 INTs. 140 rushing yards. 1 rushing TD.
Projected 2015 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 210.

  6. Nick Foles, QB, Rams. Bye: 6.
Nick Foles’ fantasy outlook is bleak, now that he’s no longer in Chip Kelly’s up-tempo offense. Foles may thrive with the Rams, but he probably won’t be anywhere near QB1 territory because he won’t throw nearly as much in St. Louis.

Projected 2015 Fantasy Stats: 3,500 passing yards. 19 passing TDs. 13 INTs. 70 rushing yards. 1 rushing TD.
Projected 2015 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 203.

  7. Jameis Winston, QB, Buccaneers. Bye: 6.
AUG. 25 UPDATE: Jameis Winston looked so much better versus Cincinnati than he did last week. He went 8-of-13 for 90 yards along with a touchdown run. He’s not a fantasy QB1 by any means, but his two ground scores in as many weeks might mean that he could be a decent backup.

Jameis Winston has a couple of terrific weapons to work with, but it’ll be difficult for him to reach QB1 status anytime soon, given his affinity for interceptions. Winston is not a scrambling quarterback, so unlike Marcus Mariota, he won’t score tons of fantasy points by running around.

Projected 2015 Fantasy Stats: 3,100 passing yards. 15 passing TDs. 14 INTs. 170 rushing yards. 4 rushing TDs.
Projected 2015 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 197.

  8. Derek Carr, QB, Raiders. Bye: 6.
Derek Carr will suffer a sophomore slump because the Raiders foolishly downgraded their offensive coordinator position from Greg Olson to Bill Musgrave. Mark Davis’ personnel moves are almost as bad as his Captain Kangaroo haircuts. Amari Cooper will help, but he’s just a rookie.

Projected 2015 Fantasy Stats: 3,100 passing yards. 16 passing TDs. 12 INTs. 80 rushing yards. 1 rushing TD.
Projected 2015 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 178.

  9. Brian Hoyer, QB, Texans. Bye: 9.
Brian Hoyer is the favorite to start for the Texans, but he’s not much of a fantasy option.

Projected 2015 Fantasy Stats: 2,600 passing yards. 14 passing TDs. 14 INTs. 30 rushing yards. 0 rushing TDs.
Projected 2015 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 166.

  10. Kirk Cousins, QB, Redskins. Bye: 8.
Kirk Cousins will reportedly start Week 1, so he’s on the fantasy radar. However, he’s only an option in 2-QB leagues, and a weak one at that, because once things begin going south for him, there’s no turning back.

Projected 2015 Fantasy Stats: 2,600 passing yards. 13 passing TDs. 15 INTs. 90 rushing yards. 0 rushing TDs.
Projected 2015 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 135.

  11. Josh McCown, QB, Browns. Bye: 11.
The Browns are going into the season with Josh McCown as their starting quarterback. Let’s all laugh at them.

Projected 2015 Fantasy Stats: 2,400 passing yards. 12 passing TDs. 14 INTs. 120 rushing yards. 1 rushing TD.
Projected 2015 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 134.

  12. Robert Griffin, QB, Redskins. Bye: 8.
AUG. 30 UPDATE: Robert Griffin has been benched for Week 1, according to an ESPN report. He shouldn’t have been on your fantasy roster anyway.

AUG. 21 UPDATE: Robert Griffin had a disastrous showing in his second preseason game. He was strip-sacked on his first attempt, as rookie guard Brandon Scherff was pushed back into Griffin. The Washington quarterback then took three sacks on only four possessions, fumbling twice. Griffin, who had absolutely no pass protection, went 2-of-5 for just a laughable eight yards as a result. One of his incompletions was dropped, but Griffin was terrible. He didn’t run either, so Washington managed just seven net yards of offense in the four drives the starting unit was on the field. Griffin also reminded everyone how fragile he is, and it’s difficult to imagine him lasting the whole year.

Griffin is too injury-prone to be worth considering as a fantasy starter. He’s also way too inconsistent, showing a reluctance to put in the work to improve his game. He has upside, but only take him in the final rounds.

Projected 2015 Fantasy Stats: 1,400 passing yards. 7 passing TDs. 8 INTs. 200 rushing yards. 2 rushing TDs.
Projected 2015 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 130.

  13. Geno Smith, QB, Jets. Bye: 5.
AUG. 12 UPDATE: Geno Smith is out for 6-10 weeks, which affects 2-QB leagues. Ryan Fitzpatrick is the favorite to start, but he may not hold his job for very long. For more on how this affects the Jets, check out my NFL Disaster Grades.

Geno Smith is the starting quarterback for now, but he could be supplanted by Ryan Fitzpatrick or even Bryce Petty at any time.

Projected 2015 Fantasy Stats: 1,500 passing yards. 8 passing TDs. 7 INTs. 130 rushing yards. 1 rushing TD.
Projected 2015 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 117.

  14. Ryan Mallett, QB, Texans. Bye: 9.
Ryan Mallett has lost the quarterback competition.

Projected 2015 Fantasy Stats: 800 passing yards. 4 passing TDs. 4 INTs. 0 rushing yards. 0 rushing TDs.
Projected 2015 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 100.

  15. Ryan Fitzpatrick, QB, Jets. Bye: 5.
Ryan Fitzpatrick will start until Geno Smith returns from his broken jaw.

Projected 2015 Fantasy Stats: 1,400 passing yards. 8 passing TDs. 6 INTs. 20 rushing yards. 0 rushing TDs.
Projected 2015 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 98.

  16. Jimmy Garoppolo, QB, Patriots. Bye: 4.
Jimmy Garoppolo will start the first four games as Tom Brady serves his suspension. He’s worth taking a flier on as a QB2 in deep leagues. If Garoppolo thrives in his four games and then a 38-year-old Brady struggles mightily in his return, Bill Belichick could opt to switch back to Garoppolo.

Projected 2015 Fantasy Stats: 500 passing yards. 2 passing TDs. 1 INT. 10 rushing yards. 0 rushing TDs.
Projected 2015 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 87.

  17. Johnny Manziel, QB, Browns. Bye: 11.
Johnny Manziel would rather roll $20s in bathrooms than be a professional quarterback. If he doesn’t want to play football, you shouldn’t have him on your fantasy football roster.

Projected 2015 Fantasy Stats: 1,200 passing yards. 7 passing TDs. 10 INTs. 180 rushing yards. 1 rushing TD.
Projected 2015 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 80.
