With training camp underway soon (and OTAs ongoing), there will be updates daily to this 2014 Fantasy Football Training Camp Stock page if anything noteworthy happens.
If there’s an injury or a player surprising/disappointing, I’ll let you know about it and adjust my 2014 Fantasy Football Rankings accordingly. Follow me @walterfootball for updates.

2014 Fantasy Football Stock Report – Week of July 28
AUG. 4
T.Y. Hilton, WR, Colts
T.Y. Hilton is getting all of the first-team looks, as he’s clearly ahead of Hakeem Nicks on the depth chart. Now in his third year, Hilton could make a huge leap. He caught at least five passes in all but two of his final 11 games in 2013.
Darren McFadden, RB, Raiders
Jerry McDonald of the Oakland Tribune tweeted Saturday that the Raiders have improved Darren McFadden’s weight room routine. It’s nice to see that the media is finally catching up to something we’ve been discussing since February. Oakland has done more than just bolster McFadden’s work ethic in the weight room; the improved routine is why he re-signed with the team in the first place. McFadden (hopefully) figures to surprise non-readers of this Web site by staying healthy for a change this year.
Hakeem Nicks, WR, Colts
Colts’ offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton told the media this past weekend that he’s disappointed in Hakeem Nicks’ conditioning. It’s a shame that Nicks is continuing to sabotage his career by not working hard enough.
AUG. 3
Vincent Brown, WR, Chargers
Vincent Brown has missed lots of practice time with a calf injury. He’s now in a protective boot. Brown always seems to be injured, which is a shame because he has lots of athletic ability.
Knowshon Moreno, RB, Dolphins
Knowshon Moreno may miss the entire preseason because of his knee injury, according to Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald. Moreno is undraftable at this point.
AUG. 2
Michael Crabtree, WR, 49ers
Michael Crabtree will be out close to two weeks with what’s being reported as a sore hamstring. The team doesn’t believe it’s serious, but hamstrings tend to linger for receivers.
Arian Foster, RB, Texans
Arian Foster is missing practice yet again with another injury. It has not yet been revealed what’s wrong with him, but it’s not looking good.
Andre Johnson, WR, Texans
Andre Johnson is yet another receiver who will miss time with a hamstring issue. This is not a surprise, as Johnson was absent during offseason workouts. Johnson, who just turned 33, should probably be avoided in drafts because he’s being picked too early.
Rueben Randle, WR, Giants
Rueben Randle has been getting lots of end-zone looks in training camp thus far. Eli Manning might force the ball to Randle in scoring territory this season. This means that Randle could approach double-digit scores. He’ll also cause tons of interceptions, but fantasy players aren’t penalized for such things.
AUG. 1
Rashad Jennings, RB, Giants
Rashad Jennings has to be thrilled right now. David Wilson is out for the year, so Jennings won’t have to share his workload.
Marshawn Lynch, RB, Seahawks
Marshawn Lynch reported to Seahawks camp. That’s great, and it warrants a stock-up arrow, but Lynch should still be avoided because of the workload he has shouldered over the past few seasons.
Mike Wallace, WR, Dolphins
Mike Wallace will miss the preseason opener with a hamstring injury. Hamstrings linger for receivers, so this is yet another reason to avoid the overrated Wallace in all formats (Wallace is in the top 10 NFL most overrated list.)
David Wilson, RB, Giants
David Wilson is likely out for the year with a neck injury. He may not play for the Giants ever again.
JULY 31
Eric Ebron, TE, Lions
Eric Ebron has dropped tons of passes throughout OTAs and training camp, according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. Ebron had the same issue at North Carolina, so this is something Detroit fans will have to get used to.
Arian Foster, RB, Texans
Arian Foster owners can breathe easy, as the Texan running back returned to practice Wednesday. Unfortunately, he still remains a major injury risk.
JULY 30
Arian Foster, RB, Texans
Arian Foster missed practice Tuesday with a hamstring injury. I’ll drop Foster in my rankings if this malady lingers; Foster has dealt with numerous hamstring issues since he changed his eating habits a few years ago.
Steven Jackson, RB, Falcons
Steven Jackson is out indefinitely with a hamstring injury. Head coach Mike Smith said he expects Jackson to be ready by Week 1, but it’s hard to be as optimistic considering Jackson’s recent injury history.
David Wilson, RB, Giants
David Wilson suffered a neck burner Tuesday and will undergo tests. The Giants reportedly will be cautious with Wilson. This is just a reminder of how fragile he is. It’s highly unlikely Wilson will play all 16 games.
JULY 29
Steven Jackson, RB, Falcons
Steven Jackson has been enjoying a solid camp thus far, according to Vaughn McClure, ESPN Falcons. Jackson is a great buy-low candidate this year. He’s not nearly the player he used to be, but Michael Turner scored about a dozen touchdowns for Atlanta when he was even worse. Jackson accumulated six touchdowns in the final six weeks of the 2013 season, so he has a good chance to get to 12 with the Falcons poised to rebound.
Charles Johnson, WR, Browns
Charles Johnson, who was already listed on my Fantasy Football Sleepers list, has reportedly thrived in training camp. Johnson is a freak athlete with loads of potential, but he’ll need to prove himself during actual game action. With the Browns hurting at receiver, Johnson could step up and become a starter. He’s worth taking in the final rounds.
JULY 28
Lamar Miller, RB, Dolphins
Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald wrote that the Dolphins believe Lamar Miller can be used like LeSean McCoy was last year. There’s zero doubt that barring injury, Miller will be the Dolphins’ starting running back. He’ll apparently be used extensively in the passing game as well.
Trent Richardson, RB, Colts
Trent Richardson has missed some practices with a hamstring injury. Richardson apparently knows the playbook now, but this definitely doesn’t help his 2014 outlook.
Cecil Shorts, WR, Jaguars
Cecil Shorts ended up straining his hamstring during practice on Friday. He’ll be out for two weeks, and it’s unlikely that he’ll play all 16 games because hamstring maladies tend to resurface for receivers.
Julius Thomas, TE, Broncos
Julius Thomas has worked out with Tony Gonzalez this offseason. It’s great that Thomas is taking his professional career seriously rather than rolling $20s in bathrooms or racking up DUIs each weekend. Thomas could conceivably improve upon his 2013 numbers.
