2014 Fantasy Football Stock Report – Week of June 16

JUNE 23

Trent Richardson, RB, Colts
Trent Richardson has shed 15 pounds in an attempt to get more burst this season. Richardson had none in 2013, and he was also unfamiliar with the playbook, so he’s a great buy-low candidate this season. He scored 11 touchdowns for the Browns in 2012, so he’s capable of being an RB2 at the very least.

JUNE 21

Lamar Miller, RB, Dolphins
Reports of Knowshon Moreno’s bum knee is another boost for Lamar Miller’s soaring fantasy stock. Moreno may not even make the team, so it appears as though Miller has the starting running back job locked down in Miami.

Knowshon Moreno, RB, Dolphins
Knowshon Moreno reportedly has a bad knee injury that will require surgery. Given that he has also been out of shape at OTAs, there’s a good chance Moreno won’t even make Miami’s final roster. If you’re drafting early, stay completely away from Moreno until perhaps the final couple of rounds.

JUNE 20

Montee Ball, RB, Broncos
It appears as though Montee Ball will be a bigger factor in the passing game this year. Per ESPN’s Jeff Legwold, Ball has “consistently shown he’s ready to participate in long-yardage situations as a receiver.” This is obviously huge, and it could propel Ball to becoming the top running back in fantasy this year.

Emmanuel Sanders, WR, Broncos
Emmanuel Sanders has been as advertised thus far, as he has assimilated himself within the Broncos. He has enjoyed a great offseason, even spending extra time with Peyton Manning. He’ll see a big jump in production.

JUNE 19

Michael Floyd, WR, Cardinals
Michael Floyd, per multiple reports, has been a monster this offseason. He has caught everything, all while everything has clicked mentally. He’s going to have a huge season. He’s not a big name yet though, so make sure you get him on your roster.

Bernard Pierce, RB, Ravens
Bernard Pierce, coming off shoulder surgery, is expected to be ready by the beginning of training camp. Considering Ray Rice’s impending suspension, Pierce is expected to have a breakout year.

JUNE 18

Vernon Davis, TE, 49ers
Vernon Davis is another player who is skipping out on mandatory workouts. Players who hold out are prone to injuries or regression. It’s not a big deal yet, but Davis will be branded as a potential fantasy bust if he doesn’t report soon.

Marshawn Lynch, RB, Seahawks
Marshawn Lynch has changed his stance and reported to mandatory minicamp. I’m still down on Lynch because of his extensive workload – he’s atop my Fantasy Football Bust List – but I feel a bit better about him now.

JUNE 17

Bernard Pierce, RB, Ravens
The New York Post is reporting that Ray Rice’s suspension might be 4-6 games; perhaps even more. If the offensive line improves, Bernard Pierce will produce solid RB2-type numbers in Gary Kubiak’s offense.

Ray Rice, RB, Ravens
The New York Post is reporting that Ray Rice’s suspension might be 4-6 games; perhaps even more. There’s no reason whatsoever to draft Rice early in your league. He’s not even in a mid-round option in non-PPR leagues. He was terrible this past year, so given all of his offseason troubles, there’s no reason to believe he’ll bounce back.

JUNE 16

Devonta Freeman, RB, Falcons
Some publications are already fawning over Devonta Freeman, but the rookie may not have a big impact in 2014 if he doesn’t improve his pass protection. Head coach Mike Smith actually criticized that part of his game a couple of days ago. The Falcons simply may not trust Freeman enough to play him much during this upcoming season.
