Earnest Greene III Prospect Preview

By Charlie Campbell

Career Recap:

Greene broke into the starting lineup in 2023 and has been the Bulldogs’ starting left tackle over the past two seasons. After the 2024 season, Greene could have entered the draft and been an early-round pick, but he decided to return to Georgia.

2025 Season Outlook:

Good games to watch Greene include Tennessee (Sep. 13), Alabama (Sep. 27), Florida (Nov. 1), and Texas (Nov. 15). However, the best test he could see all season could be when he takes on Auburn defensive lineman Keldric Faulk on October 11. Faulk could be a high first-round pick next April.

Prospect Summary:

The Georgia Bulldogs have gotten solid play out of a number of left tackles who did not have the typical height and length, but were solid blockers with strength and quickness. Greene keeps that trend alive and could be better than some other Bulldog tackles who were taken early (see Isaiah Wynn). The NFL is always looking for starting-caliber edge blockers, and Greene has the skill set to be a potential starter. He has quality size, speed, and strength to take on pro defensive linemen, and Greene will enter the next level with a lot of experience against top competition. After some development, he could be a solid starter on Sundays.

As a pass blocker, Greene does a nice job of firing out of his stance and getting depth in his drop. He shows good functional upper body strength to tie up and sustain blocks when he gets a hold of defenders. He is able to sink his weight and stand up bull rushes while absorbing speed to power attempts. Greene might not have the ideal length in terms of his arms and height, but there are other successful tackles in the NFL with similar measurements.

In the ground game, Greene is an effective blocker and plays physically. He scraps and fights through the whistle while showing the strength to tie up defenders. He has quality strength and shows nice quickness, firing to the second level and kicking to the outside on perimeter runs. With his quickness, he would be a good fit for a zone blocking scheme in the NFL.

For the NFL, Greene has some areas to improve. Sometimes he can be prone to bending at the waist, and shows some stiffness by lumbering in his drop at times. He can react late to some blitzes, but the biggest point of improvement is not getting beaten on moves to the inside. Greene is so cognizant of locking down the edge that he gives up space and allows too many pressures via counters to the inside.

With some development, Greene looks like a future starter at left tackle or guard in the NFL.

2026 NFL Draft Expectations:

Entering the 2025 season, Greene looks like an early-round pick for the 2026 NFL Draft.
