Jordyn Tyson Prospect Preview

By Charlie Campbell

Career Recap:

While running back Cam Skattebo got all the attention, there were other players on Arizona State who produced some huge plays to help the Sun Devils reach the college football playoff. Tyson was one of those breakout players, catching 75 passes for 1,101 yards with 10 touchdowns.

2025 Season Outlook:

Arizona State has a pretty easy schedule, and this fall, the best game to watch, Tyson, could be against Colorado (Nov. 22) and cornerback D.J. McKinney.

Prospect Summary:

Tyson has a good skill set and some natural receiving ability for the NFL. What really stands out about Tyson is he is an excellent route-runner. Tyson is a smooth route-runner who doesn’t take false steps and has a phenomenal burst out of his break. With his explosion off his cuts, Tyson consistently creates separation from defensive backs. Tyson ate up man coverage in 2024, and has sudden twitch to dart into his route and get past defensive backs.

After the catch, Tyson is a dangerous runner. He shows some strength to break tackles and uses his easy acceleration to dart into openings. Tyson shows some elusiveness and will dodge and weave around defenders to get extra yardage. Tyson also has strong hands and looks very natural catching the ball. With his quick feet and polished route-running, Tyson has the potential to be a quick contributor in the NFL.

Tyson has a nice combination of size and speed for the NFL. While he is not overly big, he is a feisty receiver who will outfight defensive backs for 50-50 passes. Tyson has quality height, length, weight, and strength to battle pro cornerbacks. Tyson does not have mismatch size like a Mike Evans, and is not fast like an elite speed receiver like Tyreek Hill or Jameson Williams, but Tyson is a balanced receiver. His style of play reminds me of Amon-Ra St. Brown with his dynamic route-running, reliable hands, and being dangerous after the catch.

2026 NFL Draft Expectations:

Entering the 2025 season, Tyson looks like he has early-round potential for the 2026 NFL Draft.
