2010 Fantasy Football Rankings: Top 61-70

There will be many more 2010 Fantasy Football Rankings and features in the late spring and summer, including tons of 2010 Fantasy Football Mock Drafts, Player Rankings, Sleepers and Busts. I’ll also have an extensive 2010 NFL Fantasy Football Preseason Stock Report.

2010 Fantasy Football Rankings – Top 61-70 (May 21):

  1. Chad Ochocinco, WR, Bengals
Reasons not to like Chad Ochocinco this year:

    1. He just turned 32.

    2. Carson Palmer is clearly not the same quarterback he was prior to all of his injuries.

    3. Antonio Bryant, Matt Jones, Jordan Shipley and Jermaine Gresham. Ochocinco’s targets will decrease with these four players on the roster (though he’ll draw more single coverage). I’m more concerned that Palmer will look for Gresham instead of Ochocinco in the end zone. It’s reasonable to expect Ochocinco’s touchdown total of nine to drop in 2010.

    4. Participating in Eating Cereal With the Stars may have deterred Ochocinco from working out as much as he’d like to this offseason. Is he in 100-percent shape? I have my doubts.

  2. Vernon Davis, TE, 49ers
I don’t need to tell you that Vernon Davis just had an incredible year. He caught 78 passes for 965 yards and 13 touchdowns. Those expecting a repeat performance, however, will probably be disappointed. The 49ers will be running the ball more, and some of Davis’ end-zone targets will go to Michael Crabtree. Don’t get me wrong. Davis is still going to have a solid season. He just won’t match what he accomplished in 2009.

  3. Jeremy Maclin, WR, Eagles
Jeremy Maclin totaled 55 receptions, 762 yards and four touchdowns in his rookie campaign. He finished strong; in his final seven games, including a playoff loss to Dallas, Maclin grabbed 37 balls for 571 yards and two scores. Transpose that over a full 16-game slate, and you get 85 receptions, 1,305 yards and five touchdowns.

There is some risk with Maclin, however. Kevin Kolb has started only two games, and there’s no telling how Kolb and Maclin will mesh. As I do every year, I’ll watch every single NFL preseason game, so I’ll be able to tell you how Philadelphia’s new offense looks.

  4. Percy Harvin, WR, Vikings
The Collard Kector had a great rookie season, catching 60 balls for 790 yards and six touchdowns. He also rushed for 135 yards on only 15 attempts. He should have a bigger sophomore campaign. Two things to keep in mind: Percy Harvin’s fantasy production depends on a 41-year-old Brett Favre coming back and staying healthy. Also, Harvin has chronic migraine problems, so he may miss a few games again. The Collard Kector is very risk-reward, but does get interviewed by hot women (fast forward to :43 for the famous quote).

  5. Marion Barber, RB, Cowboys
Marion Barber will take a back seat to Felix Jones this season, but that doesn’t mean you should avoid Barber in your fantasy drafts. Barber should still receive all the goal-line work, and may approach double-digit touchdowns in 2010. Also, Felix Jones doesn’t have the best injury history. If Jones goes down, Barber will be in line for more carries.

  6. Brent Celek, TE, Eagles
Brent Celek is coming off an amazing fantasy season, catching 76 balls for 971 yards and eight touchdowns. Will Kevin Kolb limit his numbers? Absolutely not. Celek and Kolb are BFFs, and in the two games Kolb started, Celek had 16 receptions for 208 yards and a score. There shouldn’t be any sort of drop-off.

  7. Devin Aromashodu, WR, Bears
Devin Aromashodu barely played last year, but really shined in the final four games of the season. In those contests, he caught 22 passes for 282 yards and four touchdowns. It was clear that Jay Cutler had a great rapport with Aromashodu, so I’m excited to see what a complete offseason together will do for the two players. Also remember who the new offensive coordinator is. Cutler will post monstrous fantasy numbers this year thanks to Mike Martz, and you can bet Aromashodu will be the recipient of a ton of targets.

  8. Hines Ward, WR, Steelers
Hines Ward caught 95 passes for 1,167 yards and six touchdowns in 2010. However, in the one game Ben Roethlisberger missed, Ward had just three grabs for 47 yards. Big Ben could be out for as many as six games this season, so if you draft Ward, you’ll be receiving minimal production out of him for almost half of your fantasy regular season. And even when Roethlisberger returns to the lineup, there’s no guarantee Ward will match his 2009 per-game production; he just turned 34 and his skills are in decline.

  9. Joe Flacco, QB, Ravens
A sleeper of mine last year, Joe Flacco threw for 3,613 yards, 21 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. There’s a story behind those numbers, however. Flacco began the season incredibly well, compiling 1,674 yards, 11 touchdowns and five picks in his first six games. He was on pace for 4,464 yards and 29 scores.

So, what happened? Flacco suffered hip and quad injuries, which severely limited his play. Flacco is now healthy again, and will have Anquan Boldin, Donte’ Stallworth and two talented rookie tight ends at his disposal in addition to Derrick Mason.

I am whacko for Flacco. The Ravens didn’t bring in all of these receivers and tight ends to run the ball. Flacco will be airing it out a lot this season. And if you haven’t read it yet, quarterbacks with talented new receivers usually fare really well.

  10. Kevin Kolb, QB, Eagles
Kevin Kolb has started two games in his career. The first was pretty rocky, but he battled the eventual champion Saints and posted 391 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions. The following week, he torched the abysmal Chiefs for 327 yards and two scores.

Kolb may be inexperienced, but he’s very accurate and fits really well into Philadelphia’s West Coast offense. Plus, he has three dynamic targets (DeSean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin, Brent Celek) at his disposal. It’s safe to draft Kolb as a QB1. I’ll be pretty surprised if he has a poor season.
