2026 NFL Signings Graded by Team: Washington Redskins

This page lists all the 2026 NFL Signings for the Washington Redskins. I’ve listed all of the NFL Free Agent Signing Grades here, which included the Signings. Because I’ve begun posting polls for the Signings, I thought it would make sense to list just the NFL Signings here, so archiving the voting would be easier.

March 2026 – Signings

Redskins sign RB Rachaad White (1 year): A+ Grade
signed on 3/12/2026

A lot of things went wrong for the Redskins last year. One of the many problems was Austin Ekeler’s devastating injury. Ekeler was supposed to be a reliable receiving threat for Jayden Daniels out of the backfield, but he tore his Achilles in a Week 2 Thursday night affair against the Packers.

Rachaad White will be what Ekeler was supposed to be, and even better than that because Ekeler was already past his prime last year. White is still in his prime, so he’ll be a very effective receiver out of the backfield. He’s not much of a runner, but he’ll be a reliable weapon for Daniels. Even better, White is serving just a 1-year deal, so there’s hardly any risk involved. I love this signing.

Redskins sign DE Charles Omenihu (1 year, $7 million): B+ Grade
signed on 3/11/2026

Make that three edge rushers the Redskins have added this offseason. We’ll probably know soon enough from Charlie, but I don’t think these signings will preclude the Redskins from addressing the edge rush at No. 7 overall, especially with two of the new pass rushers being on 1-year deals, including Charles Omenihu.

Omenihu had 3.5 sacks last year and seven two seasons prior. He’s a decent rotational edge player who will provide valuable depth at a position that was a huge weakness for Washington last year.

Redskins sign S Nick Cross (2 years, $14 million): B+ Grade
signed on 3/11/2026

I like this signing much more than Washington’s previous acquisition of Chig Okonkwo. Of course, Nick Cross is set to make much less, so that obviously factors heavily into this grade.

Nick Cross is a 25-year-old safety with plenty of upside. He’s strong in run support, but has gotten beaten in coverage quite a bit. However, he’s young enough to improve in that regard, so I like this chance the Redskins are taking on him at a very reasonable price.

Redskins sign TE Chig Okonkwo (3 years, $30 million): C- Grade
signed on 3/11/2026

If this signing seems familiar to you, it’s because it already happened. A young, athletic tight end signed with an NFC team for three years and $30 million two days ago. That was Cade Otton, and I gave the Buccaneers a C- grade for giving him that contract.

I’m going to assign a C- to the Redskins as well. Washington needed a tight end in the wake of Zach Ertz’s injury, and Okonkwo, like Otton, is an athletic tight end with upside. However, this is an overpay, as there’s a long history of teams regretting giving big contracts to non-elite tight ends.

Redskins sign DE K'Lavon Chaisson (1 year, $12 million): B Grade
signed on 3/11/2026

It feels like K’Lavon Chaisson has been in the league for a decade, yet he’s just 27. So, he’s not signing this 1-year “prove it” deal because of age-related reasons. Chaisson is actually coming off a solid 7.5-sack season with the Patriots, so it’s not clear why he couldn’t find a deal with two or more years.

This is a solid move for the Redskins. Some may say that $12 million is a lot, but there isn’t too much risk to this signing because it’s only for one season. The Redskins are desperate to upgrade their pass rush, and Chaisson will certainly help in that regard.

Redskins sign LB Leo Chenal (3 years, $24.75 million): B- Grade
signed on 3/10/2026

Is anyone remaining on Kansas City’s roster besides Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Kenneth Walker, Chris Jones, and Tyquan Thornton? It feels like everyone’s gone, as Leo Chenal has become the latest Chief player to depart. Chenal No. 54 signed with the Redskins to potentially bolster a horrible group of linebackers.

The problem with this signing is that the Redskins needed to find linebackers who can help in coverage. Chenal is more of a run defender, so Washington will continue to have issues covering the middle of the field. Chenal is still a good player, but linebacker remains a need.

Redskins sign NT Tim Settle (3 years, $24 million): B- Grade
signed on 3/9/2026

Washington’s defense has been a mess in recent years. It was much better when the team had two mega talents at defensive tackle, so perhaps the front office is trying to recreate that.

I get the sentiment, but this signing is just OK. Tim Settle isn’t a very good player, but he stuffs the run just fine and gets after the quarterback somewhat well for someone his size.

Redskins sign DE Odafe Oweh (4 years, $100 million): B Grade
signed on 3/9/2026

Charlie Campbell reported during the combine that the Redskins really wanted to add an edge rusher at No. 7 overall. It’ll be interesting to see if we can get an update on that in the wake of the Redskins giving Odafe Oweh $100 million.

I like this move for Washington, but can’t say I love it. Oweh has registered 17.5 total sacks over the past two seasons. He’s a very talented edge rusher, but I can’t say that he’s elite, and this is elite type of money. Oweh, however, is just 27, so perhaps he can continue to evolve into one. It’s worth noting, however, that he’s a big liability against the run.

Redskins re-sign QB Marcus Mariota (1 year, $7 million): B Grade
signed on 3/9/2026

Marcus Mariota has played too much over the past couple of seasons, as Jayden Daniels hasn’t been able to stay healthy. In doing so, Mariota has proven himself to be a capable backup. Average No. 2 quarterbacks tend to go for about $5 million per year, so this is a fair price.

Redskins sign CB Amik Robertson (2 years, $16 million): C Grade
signed on 3/9/2026

The Redskins already needed a cornerback entering the offseason, and yet the hole got even deeper when Marshon Lattimore announced his retirement. With two cornerbacks needed, the Redskins had a lot of work to do.

Amik Robertson is a decent player, but an odd fit in Washington. Robertson has played well in the slot, but has struggled outside. That doesn’t really work in Washington because it seems like the Redskins have nothing but slot cornerbacks, so I don’t know how all of the pieces are going to fit.
