2010 Fantasy Football Rankings - New York Jets 2010 Fantasy Football Rankings – New York Jets:

Updated 6/7

  • Mark Sanchez, QB, Jets. Bye: 7.
Like Chad Henne, Mark Sanchez will see a major boost in his stats because his team acquired a new receiver. The Jets didn’t trade for Santonio Holmes to keep running the ball non-stop. Sanchez’s passing attempts will rise.

Projected 2010 Fantasy Stats: 3,450 passing yards. 20 passing TDs. 14 INTs. 90 rushing yards. 1 rushing TD.
Projected 2010 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 205.
Projected 2010 Fantasy Points (QB Friendly): 279.

  • Shonn Greene, RB, Jets. Bye: 7.
In two playoff games, Shonn Greene showed us exactly why the Jets traded all of their second-day draft picks to get him. Greene tore up the Bengals and Chargers, rushing for 263 yards and two touchdowns.

With Thomas Jones gone, Greene will get all of the first- and second-down carries behind a behemoth offensive line. Jones wasn’t even all that good last year, and yet he managed to generate 1,402 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns on a 4.2 YPC average.

I really don’t see any reason why Greene can’t duplicate or even exceed those numbers. He’s younger and better than Jones was in 2009. In the wake of the Leon Washington trade, Greene doesn’t really have anyone to share carries with (LaDainian Tomlinson sucks and Joe McKnight is just a third-down back). I’m expecting something close to Michael Turner’s 2008 numbers.

Projected 2010 Fantasy Stats: 1,440 rushing yards. 6 catches. 40 receiving yards. 14 total TDs.
    Projected 2010 Fantasy Points: 232.
Projected 2010 PPR Fantasy Points: 238.

  • LaDainian Tomlinson, RB, Jets. Bye: 7.
LaDainian Tomlinson will serve as the Jets’ third-down back. He should be a decent PPR flex option, but that’s about it.

Projected 2010 Fantasy Stats: 525 rushing yards. 34 catches. 260 receiving yards. 4 total TDs.
    Projected 2010 Fantasy Points: 102.
Projected 2010 PPR Fantasy Points: 136.

  • Braylon Edwards, WR, Jets. Bye: 7.
The Jets didn’t trade for Santonio Holmes to just run the ball non-stop. Mark Sanchez will be airing it out more often, which means more targets for his No. 1 receiver, Braylon Edwards. Edwards may not break 1,000 yards, but his large frame could allow him to score at least seven touchdowns this season.

Projected 2010 Fantasy Stats: 60 catches. 925 yards. 7 total TDs.
    Projected 2010 Fantasy Points: 134.
Projected 2010 PPR Fantasy Points: 194.

  • Santonio Holmes, WR, Jets. Bye: 7.
With Mark Sanchez entering his second year and San Antonio Holmes in the mix, the Jets will be throwing much more this season compared to 2009. Holmes should be good for about 50 receptions, 800 yards and 4-5 touchdowns. This, of course, factors in his four-game suspension. If you draft him, you won’t have his services for nearly a third of your regular season.

Projected 2010 Fantasy Stats: 48 catches. 775 yards. 5 total TDs.
    Projected 2010 Fantasy Points: 107.
Projected 2010 PPR Fantasy Points: 155.

  • Jerricho Cotchery, WR, Jets. Bye: 7.
Jerricho Cotchery led the Jets in receptions (57) and yardage (821) last year, but that’s likely to change with Santonio Holmes on board and Braylon Edwards being more comfortable in New York’s offense.

Projected 2010 Fantasy Stats: 45 catches. 625 yards. 2 total TDs.
    Projected 2010 Fantasy Points: 74.
Projected 2010 PPR Fantasy Points: 119.

  • Dustin Keller, TE, Jets. Bye: 7.
Dustin Keller had a disappointing sophomore campaign, catching just 45 balls for 522 yards and two touchdowns despite logging 48 receptions, 535 yards and three scores as a rookie the year before. Keller struggled with consistency; he notched two or less receptions on seven occasions in 2009. Having said that, Mark Sanchez’s growth should help Keller’s numbers improve.

Projected 2010 Fantasy Stats: 56 catches. 660 yards. 5 total TDs.
    Projected 2010 Fantasy Points: 96.
Projected 2010 PPR Fantasy Points: 152.

  • Nick Folk, K, Jets. Bye: 7.
The good news is that new Jets kicker Nick Folk nailed 90.9 percent of his field goals in 2008. The bad news is that Folk was just 18-of-28 in 2009 and seemingly hasn’t improved at all based on how he has performed in minicamps.

    Projected 2009 Fantasy Stats: 20-29 FG (1-3 from 50+; 7-11 from 40-49). 40 XP.
    Projected 2009 Fantasy Points: 106.

  • New York Jets. Bye: 7.
The Jets have a great fantasy defense. With more leads in 2010, they’ll be able to accumulate about 40 sacks. They’ll also score a special teams touchdown or two, and come away with about 20 interceptions.
