Prospect Summary:

Over the past two seasons, McCoy has been one of the more impressive cover corners in the SEC. As a freshman in 2023, McCoy had a strong debut with 31 tackles, two interceptions, and seven breakups. In his second season, McCoy was even better and helped the Volunteers reach the college football playoff. McCoy recorded 44 tackles, four interceptions, and seven passes broken up in 2024. However, McCoy missed the 2025 season with a torn ACL.

There is no doubt that McCoy has the talent to play at the NFL level. He jumps out immediately as having quality size, speed, and athleticism to be a cover corner as a pro. McCoy doesn’t hesitate to get physical and will not allow wide receivers to push him around.

In coverage, McCoy is a fit as a press-man corner. He has the size and strength to jam wideouts at the line to disrupt their route and timing of the play. McCoy can reroute and use his size to disrupt passing lanes. McCoy shows a nice ability to jam, turn, and run with receivers. He reacts quickly and has enough speed to carry verticals down the sideline. McCoy shows good vision in zone coverage, and he has the burst to close in a hurry. While he looks more natural playing press man and zone, McCoy can also play some off-man coverage.

With solid ball skills, McCoy does a nice job of breaking up passes and is a threat to snatch passes away. McCoy does a really nice job of attacking the ball, and he doesn’t panic when passes are coming his way.

There are some things that McCoy can stand to improve in 2025. Sometimes he will grab at the top of routes, so he will need to cut down on that to avoid penalties in the NFL. His run defense was adequate, but not overly impressive.

In the 2026 NFL Draft, McCoy looks like a first-round pick. Check out my latest 2026 NFL Mock Draft to see where McCoy is currently being projected.

Prospect Comparison:

Marlon Humphrey. In terms of style of play, McCoy reminds me of Humphrey coming out of Alabama.
