2013 Fantasy Football Stock Report: Running Backs
Arian Foster, RB, Texans 
Arian Foster’s yards-per-carry average dipped from 4.9 in 2010 to 4.4 in 2011 and 4.0 in 2012. One major factor has been the departure of stud fullback Vonta Leach. James Casey did a good job of catching the ball, but he was not an effective lead blocker. Greg Jones, who was signed from Jacksonville, will do a much better job in that regard.
Steven Jackson, RB, Falcons Michael Turner scored double-digit touchdowns every single season he was with Atlanta. Steven Jackson, who is much better than Turner was last year, hasn’t found the end zone more than eight times since 2006 because of the ineptness of St. Louis’ offense. Jackson will be a fantasy monster with the Falcons.
Chris Johnson, RB, Titans Chris Johnson did so much dancing at the line of scrimmage this past season because his blocking was so poor. The Titans added guard Andy Levitre and tight end Delanie Walker to improve that. I don’t see Johnson getting back to CJ2K status, but he’ll be better than he was in 2012.
Maurice Jones-Drew, RB, Jaguars 
If you don’t know how much fullback Greg Jones meant to Maurice Jones-Drew, check out MJD’s Twitter timeline to see how he felt about Jones signing with Houston. He was devastated. Jones-Drew’s fantasy stock just took a hit.
Ryan Mathews, RB, Chargers Stud guard Louis Vasquez is gone. So is Jared Gaither. He didn’t play much last year, but still, the Chargers didn’t bring in a competent replacement yet. Ryan Mathews, who isn’t good to begin with, has worse blocking in front of him now.
Daryl Richardson, RB, Rams Daryl Richardson looked decent at times last year. He didn’t get much of a chance with Steven Jackson ahead of him on the depth chart, but he’s the favorite to start at this point. That could change after the 2013 NFL Draft, but Richardson gets an up arrow for now.
