2013 Fantasy Football Rankings: Kickers

These 2013 Fantasy Football Kickers Rankings will be updated often throughout the summer, so make sure you check back from time to time. Also, be sure to check out my other 2013 Fantasy Football articles, which will include sleepers, busts, tons of 2013 Fantasy Football mock drafts and other material.

Updated 6/3

  1. Phil Dawson, K, 49ers. Bye: 9.
Phil Dawson has always been a better kicker in real life than fantasy, but that’s no longer the case because he’s on a team with a potent offense for once. Dawson is an amazing 14-of-15 from 50-plus the past two seasons.

    Projected 2013 Fantasy Stats: 31-36 FG (7-8 from 50+; 6-7 from 40-49). 48 XP.
    Projected 2013 Fantasy Points: 161.

  2. Blair Walsh, K, Vikings. Bye: 5.
Blair Walsh took the league by storm as a rookie last season, drilling 35-of-38 tries, including a perfect 10-of-10 from 50-plus.

    Projected 2013 Fantasy Stats: 34-38 FG (8-9 from 50+; 8-10 from 40-49). 33 XP.
    Projected 2013 Fantasy Points: 159.

  3. Stephen Gostkowski, K, Patriots. Bye: 10.
Stephen Gostkowski missed half of 2010 with a torn quad, but rebounded nicely, hitting 28-of-33 kicks, including 9-of-11 from 40-49 in 2011. He was a solid 29-of-35 in 2012.

    Projected 2013 Fantasy Stats: 28-34 FG (1-2 from 50+; 9-12 from 40-49). 62 XP.
    Projected 2013 Fantasy Points: 157.

  4. Matt Prater, K, Broncos. Bye: 9.
Matt Prater is a weird kicker in that he’s 15-of-20 from 50-plus in his career (a great percentage from that distance), yet he’s just 8-of-16 from 40-49 in the past two seasons. The altitude helps him, but it’s still strange.

    Projected 2013 Fantasy Stats: 27-33 FG (3-4 from 50+; 4-8 from 40-49). 58 XP.
    Projected 2013 Fantasy Points: 149.

  5. Justin Tucker, K, Ravens. Bye: 8.
Justin Tucker had an awesome rookie campaign, going 30-of-33, including a perfect 4-of-4 from 50-plus. He was also 2-of-2 in the Super Bowl.

    Projected 2013 Fantasy Stats: 29-33 FG (4-5 from 50+; 9-11 from 40-49). 39 XP.
    Projected 2013 Fantasy Points: 143.

  6. Sebastian Janikowski, K, Raiders. Bye: 7.
Sebastian Janikowski is a top fantasy kicker for two reasons. First, Oakland is not good in the red zone, so Janikowski gets plenty of opportunities. And second, Janikowski has a monstrous leg. He’s drilled an average of 5.33 field goals of 50-plus in the past six years.

    Projected 2013 Fantasy Stats: 31-35 FG (5-8 from 50+; 8-10 from 40-49). 29 XP.
    Projected 2013 Fantasy Points: 140.

  7. Matt Bryant, K, Falcons. Bye: 6.
Matt Bryant looked done in Tampa Bay at one point. Apparently, he was not. Bryant went 28-of-31 in 2010, 27-of-29 in 2011 and then 33-of-38 this past season. This includes 23-of-30 from 40-49 and a perfect 7-of-7 from 50-plus. He may lose some of his leg strength now that he’s 38, but he plays for a great offense in a dome.

    Projected 2013 Fantasy Stats: 28-33 FG (2-3 from 50+; 7-10 from 40-49). 44 XP.
    Projected 2013 Fantasy Points: 139.

  8. Dan Bailey, K, Cowboys. Bye: 11.
Dan Bailey was one of the top kickers last season, hitting 29-of-31 tries, including 3-of-5 from 50-plus.

    Projected 2013 Fantasy Stats: 29-34 FG (3-5 from 50+; 8-10 from 40-49). 38 XP.
    Projected 2013 Fantasy Points: 139.

  9. Garrett Hartley, K, Saints. Bye: 7.
Garrett Hartley missed all of 2011 with a hip injury, but came back to drill 18-of-22 tries this past season. He went 3-of-4 from 50-plus.

    Projected 2013 Fantasy Stats: 24-30 FG (3-4 from 50+; 6-8 from 40-49). 55 XP.
    Projected 2013 Fantasy Points: 139.

  10. Rob Bironas, K, Titans. Bye: 8.
Rob Bironas drilled at least 84.4 percent of his field goals every year since 2007 prior to last season. He was 25-of-31 in 2012, but he’s likely to bounce back.

    Projected 2013 Fantasy Stats: 28-32 FG (4-5 from 50+; 8-10 from 40-49). 38 XP.
    Projected 2013 Fantasy Points: 138.

  11. David Akers, K, Lions. Bye: 9.
David Akers signed with the Lions to replace the retired Jason Hanson. His struggles last season were well-documented, but he was dealing with a nagging injury. Now healthy, Akers could definitely rebound.

    Projected 2013 Fantasy Stats: 27-33 FG (4-6 from 50+; 7-10 from 40-49). 42 XP.
    Projected 2013 Fantasy Points: 138.

  12. Jay Feely, Cardinals. Bye: 9.
Jay Feely has hit on at least 83 percent of his field goals every year except one since 2005. He went 25-of-28 in 2012, including 2-of-2 from 50-plus.

    Projected 2013 Fantasy Stats: 28-33 FG (2-3 from 50+; 10-12 from 40-49). 35 XP.
    Projected 2013 Fantasy Points: 133.

  13. Mason Crosby, K, Packers. Bye: 4.
Mason Crosby was awful last year, hitting on just 21-of-33 attempts, including 2-of-9 from 50-plus.

    Projected 2013 Fantasy Stats: 23-30 FG (2-5 from 50+; 5-8 from 40-49). 53 XP.
    Projected 2013 Fantasy Points: 131.

  14. Steven Hauschka, K, Seahawks. Bye: 12.
Steven Hauschka went 25-of-30 in 2011 and then 24-of-27 last season. He’s not very good from long distance, however, going just 1-of-4 from 50-plus.

    Projected 2013 Fantasy Stats: 24-29 FG (1-3 from 50+; 6-8 from 40-49). 51 XP.
    Projected 2013 Fantasy Points: 131.

  15. Alex Henery, K, Eagles. Bye: 12.
Alex Henery is just 1-of-3 from 50-plus in his career, so that’s the bad news. The good news is that the Eagles stink the red zone, which gives Henery tons of opportunities.

    Projected 2013 Fantasy Stats: 29-33 FG (1-2 from 50+; 10-12 from 40-49). 31 XP.
    Projected 2013 Fantasy Points: 130.

  16. Randy Bullock, K, Texans. Bye: 8.
Randy Bullock, a fifth-round pick in 2012, missed all of his rookie campaign with a groin injury. He’s projected to be Houston’s kicker this season.

    Projected 2013 Fantasy Stats: 26-32 FG (2-3 from 50+; 6-9 from 40-49). 42 XP.
    Projected 2013 Fantasy Points: 130.

  17. Ryan Succop, K, Chiefs. Bye: 10.
Ryan Succop drilled 28-of-34 attempts last year, including 10-of-12 from 40-49 and 2-of-2 from 50-plus. As David Akers knows, Alex Smith sucks in the red zone, which means Succop will have plenty of opportunities this season.

    Projected 2013 Fantasy Stats: 30-36 FG (3-4 from 50+; 9-12 from 40-49). 24 XP.
    Projected 2013 Fantasy Points: 129.

  18. Robbie Gould, K, Bears. Bye: 8.
Robbie Gould has hit at least 83.3 percent of his field goals the past seven years. In addition to his excellent accuracy, he’s also a perfect 8-of-8 from 50-plus the previous two seasons.

    Projected 2013 Fantasy Stats: 26-30 FG (3-4 from 50+; 7-9 from 40-49). 37 XP.
    Projected 2013 Fantasy Points: 128.

  19. Shaun Suisham, K, Steelers. Bye: 5.
Shaun Suisham bounced around earlier in his career, but finally turned his career around in Pittsburgh, going 28-of-31 last year. He was just 1-of-3 from 50-plus, however.

    Projected 2013 Fantasy Stats: 26-31 FG (1-3 from 50+; 9-11 from 40-49). 38 XP.
    Projected 2013 Fantasy Points: 127.

  20. Adam Vinatieri, K, Colts. Bye: 8.
Adam Vinatieri turned 40 in December, but that didn’t stop him connecting on 4-of-7 field goals from 50-plus last year. He has to decline eventually though.

    Projected 2013 Fantasy Stats: 25-31 FG (2-4 from 50+; 8-10 from 40-49). 40 XP.
    Projected 2013 Fantasy Points: 127.

  21. Greg Zuerlein, K, Rams. Bye: 11.
Greg “The Leg” Zuerlein nailed seven kicks from 50-plus as a rookie. However, he whiffed on eight of his final 16 tries, finishing 23-of-31 overall. He has the talent to rebound.

    Projected 2013 Fantasy Stats: 25-31 FG (6-10 from 50+; 7-8 from 40-49). 32 XP.
    Projected 2013 Fantasy Points: 126.

  22. Lawrence Tynes, K, Buccaneers. Bye: 5.
Lawrence Tynes has replaced Connor Barth, who was knocked out for the year with a torn Achilles.

    Projected 2013 Fantasy Stats: 26-33 FG (1-3 from 50+; 9-12 from 40-49). 35 XP.
    Projected 2013 Fantasy Points: 124.

  23. Kai Forbath, K, Redskins. Bye: 5.
Kai Forbath was very impressive in 11 games with the Redskins last year, connecting on 17-of-18 tries, including a perfect 11-of-11 from 40-49 (though just 1-of-1 from 50-plus).

    Projected 2013 Fantasy Stats: 22-27 FG (2-4 from 50+; 8-10 from 40-49). 42 XP.
    Projected 2013 Fantasy Points: 120.

  24. Graham Gano, K, Panthers. Bye: 4.
Graham Gano replaced Justin Medlock last year around Thanksgiving. He went 9-of-11 in six games. However, he has not been a reliable kicker over the years, as Redskin fans very well know.

    Projected 2013 Fantasy Stats: 21-28 FG (2-4 from 50+; 6-9 from 40-49). 44 XP.
    Projected 2013 Fantasy Points: 117.

  25. Mike Nugent, K, Bengals. Bye: 12.
Mike Nugent went 19-of-23 in 12 games with the Bengals this past season. However, he was just 6-of-9 from 40-49 and 1-of-2 from 50-plus.

    Projected 2013 Fantasy Stats: 23-28 FG (1-2 from 50+; 7-10 from 40-49). 37 XP.
    Projected 2013 Fantasy Points: 115.

  26. Josh Brown, K, Giants. Bye: 9.
Josh Brown will be replacing Lawrence Tynes because he’s a cheaper option. He went 11-of-12 with the Bengals last year.

    Projected 2013 Fantasy Stats: 21-26 FG (1-3 from 50+; 5-7 from 40-49). 44 XP.
    Projected 2013 Fantasy Points: 114.

  27. Shayne Graham, K, Browns. Bye: 10.
Shayne Graham, joining his fifth team in as many years, will be charged with replacing the great Phil Dawson. Graham went 31-of-38 with Houston last season, including 4-of-9 from 50-plus.

    Projected 2013 Fantasy Stats: 24-32 FG (3-7 from 50+; 7-9 from 40-49). 29 XP.
    Projected 2013 Fantasy Points: 114.

  28. Nick Novak, K, Chargers. Bye: 8.
Nick Novak has done a solid job in relief of Nate Kaeding. He was 27-of-34 in 2011 and 18-of-20 last year. He’s hit 6-of-11 from 50-plus in that span.

    Projected 2013 Fantasy Stats: 22-26 FG (2-4 from 50+; 7-9 from 40-49). 36 XP.
    Projected 2013 Fantasy Points: 113.

  29. Caleb Sturgis, K, Dolphins. Bye: 6.
The Dolphins haven’t been too pleased with Dan Carpenter, which would explain why they used a fifth-round pick on Caleb Sturgis. You don’t want to trust a rookie kicker.

    Projected 2013 Fantasy Stats: 23-29 FG (2-4 from 50+; 7-10 from 40-49). 31 XP.
    Projected 2013 Fantasy Points: 111.

  30. Josh Scobee, K, Jaguars. Bye: 9.
Josh Scobee was 25-of-28 last year, but he won’t be a viable fantasy option until the Jaguars find a real quarterback.

    Projected 2013 Fantasy Stats: 24-27 FG (3-4 from 50+; 8-10 from 40-49). 21 XP.
    Projected 2013 Fantasy Points: 107.

  31. Dustin Hopkins, K, Bills. Bye: 12.
A rookie kicker in the windy Buffalo conditions? I think I’ll pass.

    Projected 2013 Fantasy Stats: 21-26 FG (1-2 from 50+; 5-8 from 40-49). 36 XP.
    Projected 2013 Fantasy Points: 106.

  32. Nick Folk, K, Jets. Bye: 10.
Nick Folk hasn’t hit 80 percent or more of his field goals in any of his three seasons with the Jets. There’s no reason to have him on your roster.

    Projected 2013 Fantasy Stats: 20-26 FG (3-5 from 50+; 5-7 from 40-49). 30 XP.
    Projected 2013 Fantasy Points: 101.
