2011 Fantasy Football Mock Draft Scenarios

July 17, 2011.

Rather than compile another 2011 Fantasy Football Mock Draft, I figured that it might be fun to post an existing one and to see how I would have drafted out of three different slots.

This 2011 Fantasy Football Mock Draft was posted by forum member McNulty on Saturday. I’m going to take over Teams 3 (Team Allder), 7 (Team Miller) and 12 (Team McCracken), and look at my big board to see whom I’d draft at each position.

Also, be sure to check out my other 2011 Fantasy Football articles, which will include rankings, sleepers, busts, cheat sheets and other things. Follow me @walterfootball for updates.

Round: 1
(1) Big Straight Al – Adrian Peterson RB
(2) Dolphins Homer – Arian Foster RB
(3) Team Allder – Aaron Rodgers QB Chris Johnson RB
(4) Team Lubow – Chris Johnson RB
(5) Team Name Here – Ray Rice RB
(6) Oepidal complexes – Jamaal Charles RB
(7) Team Miller – LeSean McCoy RB Rashard Mendenhall RB
(8) Da Rams – Roddy White WR
(9) Dirt Nasty – Maurice Jones-Drew RB
(10) Team Vandalay – Greg Jennings WR
(11) Team Wortman – Andre Johnson WR
(12) Team McCracken – QB Dog Killer QB Rashard Mendenhall RB

Team Allder’s Spot: I love the No. 3 spot in traditional fantasy football leagues this year. There are only three bust-proof Tier 1 guys, so you’re assured one of them in that slot. Also, you’ll probably be in a good position to snag Matt Forte, LeGarrette Blount or Steven Jackson on the way back.

Team Miller’s Spot: Rashard Mendenhall is the No. 5 player on my 2011 Fantasy Football Top 150 Cheat Sheet. LeSean McCoy is right behind him.

Team McCracken’s Spot: Same as above; Mendenhall is great value at No. 12.

Round: 2
(13) Team McCracken – Rashard Mendenhall RB Steven Jackson RB
(14) Team Wortman – Frank Gore RB
(15) Team Vandalay – Calvin Johnson WR
(16) Dirt Nasty – Hakeem Nicks WR
(17) Da Rams – Darren McFadden RB
(18) Team Miller – Steven Jackson RB Steven Jackson RB
(19) Oepidal complexes – Michael Turner RB
(20) Team Name Here – Drew Brees QB
(21) Team Lubow – Peyton Hillis RB
(22) Team Allder – Vincent Jackson WR LeGarrette Blount RB
(23) Dolphins Homer – Mike Wallace WR
(24) Big Straight Al – Larry Fitzgerald WR

Team McCracken’s Spot: As I’ve mentioned several times this summer, I have no concerns about Steven Jackson. He’s not approaching the dreaded 2,100-carry mark, so there’s no reason for him to slow down. On the contrary, I’m excited about his touchdown potential in Josh McDaniels’ offense.

Team Miller’s Spot: My McCracken and Miller teams are identical thus far.

Team Allder’s Spot: Lo and behold, I have my choice of LeGarrette Blount and Matt Forte on the way back. I have Blount over Forte in my 2011 Fantasy Football Running Back Rankings.

Round: 3
(25) Big Straight Al – Matt Forte RB
(26) Dolphins Homer – LeGarrette Blount RB
(27) Team Allder – Knowshon Moreno RB Tom Brady QB
(28) Team Lubow – Reggie Wayne WR
(29) Team Name Here – Jonathan Stewart RB
(30) Oepidal complexes – Peyton Manning QB
(31) Team Miller – Antonio Gates TE Tom Brady QB
(32) Da Rams – Tom Brady QB
(33) Dirt Nasty – Philip Rivers QB
(34) Team Vandalay – Ahmad Bradshaw RB
(35) Team Wortman – Miles Austin WR
(36) Team McCracken – DeSean Jackson WR Mike Williams WR

Team Allder’s Spot: I prefer to wait on quarterbacks, but getting Tom Brady in the third round is just way too good to pass up.

Team Miller’s Spot: Ditto for Team Miller’s Spot. Brady’s an even better bargain in the middle of Round 3.

Team McCracken’s Spot: We’re not getting the same value for Mike Williams as we did last year, but he’s still a stud and should only continue to improve, especially with Josh Freeman coming into his own as one of the better quarterbacks in the NFL.

Round: 4
(37) Team McCracken – Dez Bryant WR Ryan Mathews RB
(38) Team Wortman – Ryan Mathews RB
(39) Team Vandalay – Dwayne Bowe WR
(40) Dirt Nasty – Jahvid Best RB
(41) Da Rams – Dallas Clark TE
(42) Team Miller – Mike Williams WR Mike Williams WR
(43) Oepidal complexes – DeAngelo Williams RB
(44) Team Name Here – Marques Colston WR
(45) Team Lubow – Jeremy Maclin WR
(46) Team Allder – Brandon Lloyd WR Brandon Marshall WR
(47) Dolphins Homer – Brandon Marshall WR
(48) Big Straight Al – Josh Freeman QB

Team McCracken’s Spot: Three running backs in my first four picks? It’s almost a must considering how thin the running backs are this year. Plus, Ryan Mathews is the top player available on my cheat sheet and can start as a flex for me.

Team Miller’s Spot: I was willing to take Mike Williams at 3.12, so I’m obviously thrilled with him at 4.07.

Team Allder’s Spot: I may move Brandon Marshall ahead of Mike Williams at some point this summer, depending on what Miami does with its quarterback situation. I don’t mind having either guy.

Round: 5
(49) Big Straight Al – Wes Welker WR
(50) Dolphins Homer – Santonio Holmes WR
(51) Team Allder – BenJarvus Green-Ellis RB Steve Johnson WR
(52) Team Lubow – Tony Romo QB
(53) Team Name Here – Cedric Benson RB
(54) Oepidal complexes – Steve Johnson WR
(55) Team Miller – Mark Ingram RB Austin Collie WR
(56) Da Rams – Shonn Greene RB
(57) Dirt Nasty – Felix Jones RB
(58) Team Vandalay – Ryan Grant RB
(59) Team Wortman – Matt Schaub QB
(60) Team McCracken – Jason Witten TE Ben Roethlisberger QB

Team Allder’s Spot: If I can land Steve Johnson as my WR2 in the fifth round of all of my leagues this year, I’ll be pretty happy.

Team Miller’s Spot: Steve Johnson’s off the board, so let’s go with the next best player available on my cheat sheet. That would be Austin Collie, and no, I’m not really that concerned about the concussions. He only had two last year and is currently 100 percent.

Team McCracken’s Spot: Ben Roethlisberger’s no Tom Brady when it comes to fantasy football, but he’s a decent starter and well worth the selection at 5.12. He’ll eclipse 4,000 yards this year if he stays healthy.

Round: 6
(61) Team McCracken – Kenny Britt WR Austin Collie WR
(62) Team Wortman – Jermichael Finley TE
(63) Team Vandalay – Matt Ryan QB
(64) Dirt Nasty – Mario Manningham WR
(65) Da Rams – Fred Jackson RB
(66) Team Miller – Sidney Rice WR Vernon Davis TE
(67) Oepidal complexes – Daniel Thomas RB
(68) Team Name Here – Michael Crabtree WR
(69) Team Lubow – Austin Collie WR
(70) Team Allder – Percy Harvin WR Vernon Davis TE
(71) Dolphins Homer – Ben Roethlisberger QB
(72) Big Straight Al – Vernon Davis TE

Team McCracken’s Spot: Austin Collie is the WR2 for another one of my teams.

Team Miller’s Spot: Vernon Davis is the top player available on my cheat sheet. I need a tight end, so here’s to hoping that Jim Harbaugh gets the most out of Davis.

Team Allder’s Spot: Davis was still available at 6.10.

Round: 7
(73) Big Straight Al – Mike Tolbert RB
(74) Dolphins Homer – Mikel Leshoure RB
(75) Team Allder – Owen Daniels TE Marshawn Lynch RB
(76) Team Lubow – James Starks RB
(77) Team Name Here – Kellen Winslow TE
(78) Oepidal complexes – Anquan Boldin WR
(79) Team Miller – Eli Manning QB Marshawn Lynch RB
(80) Da Rams – Jordy Nelson WR
(81) Dirt Nasty – Marshawn Lynch RB
(82) Team Vandalay – Ryan Williams RB
(83) Team Wortman – Johnny Knox WR
(84) Team McCracken – Pierre Thomas RB Jimmy Graham TE

Team Allder’s Spot: I’m not a fan of Marshawn Lynch, but he was one of my top players available. Running backs are scarce.

Team Miller’s Spot: Team Allder and Team Miller must be picking off the same cheat sheet.

Team McCracken’s Spot: Jimmy Graham is going to score a ton of touchdowns in New Orleans’ explosive offense.

Round: 8
(85) Team McCracken – Pierre Garcon WR Robert Meachem WR
(86) Team Wortman – Ryan Torain RB
(87) Team Vandalay – Joseph Addai RB
(88) Dirt Nasty – C.J. Spiller RB
(89) Da Rams – Santana Moss WR
(90) Team Miller – Steelers D/ST D/ST Chris Wells RB
(91) Oepidal complexes – Zach Miller TE
(92) Team Name Here – Beanie Wells RB
(93) Team Lubow – Braylon Edwards WR
(94) Team Allder – Joe Flacco QB Deion Branch WR
(95) Dolphins Homer – Jimmy Graham TE
(96) Big Straight Al – Mike Thomas WR

Team McCracken’s Spot: I really like Robert Meachem this year. He was hurt in 2010, so he’s very likely to rebound, especially with Marques Colston coming off his fifth knee operation in five years.

Team Miller’s Spot: I thought I’d be different here. Since running backs are so scarce, why not select another one? Chris Wells has been a major disappointment thus far in his brief career, but he was injured and limited by crappy quarterbacks last year. He’ll be better in 2011.

Team Allder’s Spot: I think I’m the only person in America who likes Deion Branch. I know he’s injury-prone, but didn’t anyone else notice the rapport he had with Tom Brady last year? Brady loves him.

Round: 9
(97) Big Straight Al – Mike Williams WR
(98) Dolphins Homer – Sam Bradford QB
(99) Team Allder – Steve Smith WR Brandon Jacobs RB
(100) Team Lubow – Marcedes Lewis TE
(101) Team Name Here – A.J. Green WR
(102) Oepidal complexes – Malcom Floyd WR
(103) Team Miller – Roy Helu RB Deion Branch WR
(104) Da Rams – Mike Goodson RB
(105) Dirt Nasty – Brandon Jacobs RB
(106) Team Vandalay – LaDainian Tomlinson RB
(107) Team Wortman – Michael Bush RB
(108) Team McCracken – Randy Moss WR Deion Branch WR

Team Allder’s Spot: Another running back for Team Allder. Ahmad Bradshaw isn’t the most durable player in the world, so Brandon Jacobs could post some impressive stats if given the chance.

Team Miller’s Spot: I’ve said what I need to say about Deion Branch.

Team McCracken’s Spot: Ditto.

Round: 10
(109) Team McCracken – Packers D/ST D/ST Tim Tebow QB
(110) Team Wortman – Deion Branch WR
(111) Team Vandalay – Matthew Stafford QB
(112) Dirt Nasty – Tim Tebow QB
(113) Da Rams – Lance Moore WR
(114) Team Miller – Mark Sanchez QB Robert Meachem WR
(115) Oepidal complexes – Robert Meachem WR
(116) Team Name Here – Jets D/ST D/ST
(117) Team Lubow – Matt Cassel QB
(118) Team Allder – Terrell Owens WR Jacoby Ford WR
(119) Dolphins Homer – Montario Hardesty RB
(120) Big Straight Al – Davone Bess WR

Team McCracken’s Spot: I don’t really need a strong backup quarterback with Tom Brady on Team Allder and Miller’s rosters, but that’s not the case with Team McCracken.

Team Miller’s Spot: I’ve discussed Robert Meachem already.

Team Allder’s Spot: No Meachem, so let’s move on to my next wide receiver sleeper, Jacoby Ford.

Round: 11
(121) Big Straight Al – Patriots D/ST D/ST
(122) Dolphins Homer – Emmanuel Sanders WR
(123) Team Allder – Ravens D/ST D/ST Danario Alexander WR
(124) Team Lubow – Jay Cutler QB
(125) Team Name Here – Thomas Jones RB
(126) Oepidal complexes – Ronnie Brown RB
(127) Team Miller – Danny Woodhead RB Jacoby Ford WR
(128) Da Rams – Chris Cooley TE
(129) Dirt Nasty – Julio Jones WR
(130) Team Vandalay – Chad Ochocinco WR
(131) Team Wortman – David Garrard QB
(132) Team McCracken – Leonard Hankerson WR Danario Alexander WR

Team Allder’s Spot: I’m really excited to see whom Sam Bradford favors between Danario Alexander and Mark Clayton. As mentioned, I’ll keep track of his targets on the site this August.

Team Miller’s Spot: Jacoby Ford, sleeper receiver, yadda, yadda, yadda.

Team McCracken’s Spot: Danario Alexander, sleeper receiver, yadda, yadda, yadda.

Round: 12
(133) Team McCracken – James Jones WR Jacoby Ford WR
(134) Team Wortman – Rob Gronkowski TE
(135) Team Vandalay – Hines Ward WR
(136) Dirt Nasty – Brandon Pettigrew TE
(137) Da Rams – Jacoby Ford WR
(138) Team Miller – Plaxico Burress WR Danario Alexander WR
(139) Oepidal complexes – Jerome Simpson WR
(140) Team Name Here – Rashad Jennings RB
(141) Team Lubow – Bears D/ST D/ST
(142) Team Allder – Derrick Mason WR Mark Clayton WR
(143) Dolphins Homer – DeMarco Murray RB
(144) Big Straight Al – Jason Campbell QB

Team McCracken’s Spot: Jacoby Ford, sleeper receiver, yadda, yadda, yadda.

Team Miller’s Spot: Danario Alexander, sleeper receiver, yadda, yadda, yadda.

Team Allder’s Spot: I HAVE BOTH RAMS RECEIVERS MUHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Round: 13
(145) Big Straight Al – Nate Kaeding K
(146) Dolphins Homer – Danny Amendola WR
(147) Team Allder – Kevin Kolb QB Jason Snelling RB
(148) Team Lubow – Neil Rackers K
(149) Team Name Here – Rob Bironas K
(150) Oepidal complexes – Falcons D/ST D/ST
(151) Team Miller – Anthony Armstrong WR Mark Clayton WR
(152) Da Rams – Jason Snelling RB
(153) Dirt Nasty – Giants D/ST D/ST
(154) Team Vandalay – Dustin Keller TE
(155) Team Wortman – Chris Ivory RB
(156) Team McCracken – Josh Brown K Mark Clayton WR

Team Allder’s Spot: Another running back for Team Allder. It’s highly doubtful that Michael Turner is going to last the entire season, so drafting Jason Snelling late could pay dividends.

Team Miller’s Spot: I HAVE BOTH RAMS RECEIVERS MUHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Team McCracken’s Spot: I HAVE BOTH RAMS RECEIVERS MUHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Round: 14
(157) Team McCracken – Donovan McNabb QB Shane Vereen RB
(158) Team Wortman – Eagles D/ST D/ST
(159) Team Vandalay – Tony Gonzalez TE
(160) Dirt Nasty – Steve Smith WR
(161) Da Rams – Stephen Gostkowski K
(162) Team Miller – Sebastian Janikowski K Shane Vereen RB
(163) Oepidal complexes – Ben Tate RB
(164) Team Name Here – Lee Evans WR
(165) Team Lubow – Vince Young QB
(166) Team Allder – Garrett Hartley K Shane Vereen RB
(167) Dolphins Homer – Danario Alexander WR
(168) Big Straight Al – Tony Moeaki TE

Team McCracken’s Spot: I have no idea what Bill Belichick plans on doing with his billion running backs, but Shane Vereen is a very talented player. He’s well worth taking in Round 14.

Team Miller’s Spot: No backup quarterbacks for Teams Miller or Allder. This was not by design. Sam Bradford, Tim Tebow, Eli Manning and Matthew Stafford all went earlier than expected, so I wasn’t going to spend a late-round pick on a useless quarterback like David Garrard or Kevin Kolb. If Tom Brady gets hurt, I’ll trade for a signal-caller if I can’t pick one up.

Team Allder’s Spot: Ditto.

Round: 15
(169) Big Straight Al – Darren Sproles RB
(170) Dolphins Homer – Dan Carpenter K
(171) Team Allder – Chargers D/ST D/ST 49ers Defense
(172) Team Lubow – Saints D/ST D/ST
(173) Team Name Here – David Akers K
(174) Oepidal complexes – Mike Sims-Walker WR
(175) Team Miller – Billy Cundiff K 49ers Defense
(176) Da Rams – Reggie Bush RB
(177) Dirt Nasty – Aaron Hernandez TE
(178) Team Vandalay – Mason Crosby K
(179) Team Wortman – Anthony Dixon RB
(180) Team McCracken – Matt Prater K 49ers Defense

Team Allder’s Spot: I’m all about playing fantasy defense matchups. The 49ers should tear through the Seahawks like tissue paper.

Team Miller’s Spot: That’s a Galaxy Quest quote, by the way. Great movie.

Team McCracken’s Spot: I have nothing else interesting to say.

Round: 16
(181) Team McCracken – Ricky Williams RB Random Kicker (Who cares?)
(182) Team Wortman – Adam Vinatieri K
(183) Team Vandalay – Chiefs D/ST D/ST
(184) Dirt Nasty – Lawrence Tynes K
(185) Da Rams – Lions D/ST D/ST
(186) Team Miller – Tashard Choice RB Random Kicker (Who cares?)
