This is the 2015 NFL Combine Stock Report for the quarterbacks. Follow me @walterfootball for updates.
Brandon Bridge, QB, South Alabama
Brandon Bridge is a potential late-round quarterback sleeper. He’ll probably be chosen on the third day, but some team could get a steal. Bridge displayed good athleticism (4.72 40) and a strong arm in the field drills, as Charlie Campbell noted in his NFL Combine field drills recap.
Brett Hundley, QB, UCLA
Brett Hundley’s big issue is his pocket awareness; he tends to not look downfield amid pressure, so he’ll need to be coached up way more than the two quarterbacks ahead of him. However, this was not going to be an issue at the Combine, where Hundley could look good without the threat of a pass rush. Hundley did very well in the field drills and showed off his athleticism, so perhaps some team will choose him in the second round. The Eagles like him, and they’ll consider him in the second frame if they don’t trade up for Marcus Mariota.
Marcus Mariota, QB, Oregon
Jameis Winston stole the show in Indianapolis, but Marcus Mariota had a strong week as well. Mariota showed off his athleticism in the workouts and looked good in the drills. He also predictably presented himself well in the interviews. His performance in Indianapolis has strengthened the value of Tennessee’s No. 2 selection, so it’s looking more like he’ll be the second player selected on April 30.
Jameis Winston, QB, Florida State
Charlie Campbell reported more than a month ago that the Buccaneers preferred Jameis Winston over Marcus Mariota for the No. 1 overall pick. Winston is now locked into the top spot in the wake of what he accomplished in Indianapolis. Winston’s 40 time was poor (4.97), but he made up for it in the field drills, where he threw some tremendous passes. Most importantly, he impressed in the interviews, prompting some to compare his football IQ to Peyton Manning’s.
