2011 Fantasy Football Training Camp Stock – Week of Aug. 29
SEPT. 8
I’ll have my 2011 Fantasy Football Rankings updated Thursday morning to take these stocks into account.
Joseph Addai, RB, Colts
Yet another downgrade for Joseph Addai because Peyton Manning could have a third neck surgery soon.
Dallas Clark, TE, Colts
Yet another downgrade for Dallas Clark because Peyton Manning could have a third neck surgery soon.
Austin Collie, WR, Colts
Yet another downgrade for Austin Collie because Peyton Manning could have a third neck surgery soon.
Pierre Garcon, WR, Colts
Yet another downgrade for Pierre Garcon because Peyton Manning could have a third neck surgery soon.
Peyton Manning, QB, Colts
There’s now a chance Peyton Manning could have a third neck surgery. It’s now possible that he could miss the entire season. Don’t take him until you get to the double-digit rounds.
Lance Moore, WR, Saints
Lance Moore is out for Week 1.
Reggie Wayne, WR, Colts
Yet another downgrade for Reggie Wayne because Peyton Manning could have a third neck surgery soon.
SEPT. 7
I’ll have my 2011 Fantasy Football Rankings updated Wednesday morning to take these stocks into account.
David Garrard, QB, Jaguars
David Garrard was inexplicably cut Tuesday afternoon – just five days before the team’s season opener. Umm… what?
Maurice Jones-Drew, RB, Jaguars
David Garrard’s release is a clear indication that the Jaguars are going to have major problems this year. Like the 2010 Panthers, they’re going to quit on lame-duck coach Jack Del Rio.
Marcedes Lewis, TE, Jaguars
Copy-paste: David Garrard’s release is a clear indication that the Jaguars are going to have major problems this year. Like the 2010 Panthers, they’re going to quit on lame-duck coach Jack Del Rio.
Mike Thomas, WR, Jaguars
Copy-paste: David Garrard’s release is a clear indication that the Jaguars are going to have major problems this year. Like the 2010 Panthers, they’re going to quit on lame-duck coach Jack Del Rio.
SEPT. 5
I’ll have my 2011 Fantasy Football Rankings updated Sunday morning to take these stocks into account.
Dwayne Bowe, Chiefs
Dwayne Bowe has to be downgraded because Matt Cassel might miss a few games with cracked ribs.
Matt Cassel, QB, Chiefs
Todd Haley got exactly what he asked for. He played Matt Cassel deep into the second quarter of the preseason finale, and now Cassel could miss a few games with cracked ribs.
Jamaal Charles, RB, Chiefs
Matt Cassel might miss a few games with cracked ribs, so Jamaal Charles needs to be downgraded a bit.
Dallas Clark, TE, Colts
It sounds like Peyton Manning could be out 4-5 games. Downgrade.
Austin Collie, WR, Colts
Copy-paste job: It sounds like Peyton Manning could be out 4-5 games. Downgrade.
Pierre Garcon, WR, Colts
Copy-paste job: It sounds like Peyton Manning could be out 4-5 games. Downgrade.
Peyton Manning, QB, Colts
It’s being reported that Peyton Manning could miss 4-5 games. If you draft him, make sure you have a very good backup.
Tony Moeaki, TE, Chiefs
Tony Moeaki is another victim of Todd Haley’s stupidity. He’s out for the year with a knee injury.
Reggie Wayne, WR, Colts
Copy-paste job: It sounds like Peyton Manning could be out 4-5 games. Downgrade.
SEPT. 4
I’ll have my 2011 Fantasy Football Rankings updated Sunday morning to take these stocks into account.
Rashad Jennings, RB, Jaguars
Considering Maurice Jones-Drew’s knee issues, it’s kind of ironic that Rashad Jennings was placed on IR because of his knee.
Deji Karim, RB, Jaguars
With Rashad Jennings out for the year and Maurice Jones-Drew still hampered by knee problems, Deji Karim is worth picking up as a late-round sleeper.
Marshawn Lynch, RB, Seahawks
This shouldn’t be a surprise, but left guard Robert Gallery is going to be out for several weeks because of a sprain knee. Seattle’s shaky offensive line just got worse.
SEPT. 3
I’ll have my 2011 Fantasy Football Rankings updated Saturday morning to take these stocks into account.
Peyton Manning, QB, Colts
Adam Schefter predicted Friday that Peyton Manning would not play against the Texans in Week 1, meaning Kerry Collins will start instead. The writing was on the wall when the Colts signed Collins. Try to avoid Manning in your fantasy drafts unless he falls to Round 5. Even then, make sure you have a solid backup because there’s no guarantee Manning will be 100 percent anytime soon.
SEPT. 2
I’ll have my 2011 Fantasy Football Rankings updated Friday morning to take these stocks into account.
Chris Johnson, RB Titans
Chris Johnson’s prayers have been answered! The stud back received a 4-year, $53.5 million deal from the Titans on Thursday afternoon. He’s now the No. 1 fantasy player in all formats.
Javon Ringer, RB, Titans
Chris Johnson will not extend his holdout, so don’t bother drafting Javon Ringer in Rounds 10-12. You can still take him very late if you want a handcuff for Johnson.
SEPT. 1
I’ll have my 2011 Fantasy Football Rankings updated Saturday morning to take these stocks into account.
Mark Clayton, WR, Rams
Mark Clayton is back! Well, maybe. The Rams just re-signed Clayton to a 1-year deal. However, there’s a chance Clayton could go on the PUP list. This is just a situation to monitor for now.
Arian Foster, RB, Texans
Arian Foster won’t like to hear this because he hates fantasy football, but he’s getting a stock down. ESPN’s Dr. Michael Kaplan has examined Foster’s MRI, and said that the former No. 1 overall fantasy player will be out 3-4 weeks. As I’ve said repeatedly, soft-tissue injuries like this tend to linger, so it’s time to drop Foster in my 2011 Fantasy Football Rankings.
Chris Johnson, RB Titans
Chris Johnson proved just how much of an idiot he is when he lashed out at Titans fans on Twitter (follow me @walterfootball). Forum member Leelee said it best, “CJ proved a new level of stupidity here that I think he might actually sit out the year, so I’m going to bump [Javon] Ringer up.”
Javon Ringer, RB, Titans
I’m bumping Javon Ringer up a bit because of Chris Johnson’s dumb Twitter comments. There’s no way he deserves the money he’s asking for, and it seems like he’s either too stupid or too stubborn to realize that.
Ben Tate, RB, Texans
Make sure you pick up Ben Tate. Arian Foster is out for 3-4 weeks, and soft-tissue injuries like hamstrings tend to linger. Tate could start all of September.
AUG. 31
I’ll have my 2011 Fantasy Football Rankings updated Wednesday morning to take these stocks into account.
Garrett Hartley, K, Saints
I normally don’t do updates for kickers, but I’ve seen people take Garrett Hartley in two of my real drafts recently. Hartley has a hip injury, so the Saints signed John Kasay as insurance. Hartley may not miss any regular-season action, but since all kickers are pretty much the same, just take a healthy one.
Rashad Jennings, RB, Jaguars
I’ve been high on Rashad Jennings as a late-round sleeper, but he was spotted on crutches Tuesday after suffering an injury last week. There is now some concern that Jennings could miss a month of action, though his status is currently unclear.
Marshawn Lynch, RB, Seahawks
Two reasons I’m dropping Marshawn Lynch: First, first-round-rookie right tackle James Carpenter may have lost his job to some scrub. Second, Lynch hasn’t practiced in a while because of an ankle injury. Seattle is a fantasy black hole; avoid everyone on that team.
Jeremy Maclin, WR, Eagles
I’m giving Jeremy Maclin a stock up because he told the media that he’ll play against the Rams. To what capacity remains to be seen. Though I’m moving Maclin up my board, I’m still going to be down on him compared to most other rankings. Considering that he hasn’t practiced at all in this shortened offseason, he’s an injury waiting to happen.
