Trevor Goosby Prospect Preview

By Charlie Campbell

Career Recap:

Goosby was a backup during his freshman 2024 season. As a sophomore, Goosby won the starting left tackle job and had a strong debut as the blind side protector for Arch Manning.

2026 Season Outlook:

Goosby is going to see some good edge rushers during his 2026 season. The best games to watch him include Ohio State (Sep. 12), Oklahoma (Oct. 10), Ole Miss (Oct. 24), LSU (Nov. 14), and Texas A&M (Nov. 27).

Prospect Summary:

The NFL is always in need of edge blocking talent, and Goosby has a skill set that is tough to find. He is a big blocker at the point of attack who has a special combination of size, length, and quickness. If Goosby works at improving his craft and continues to develop, he has the potential to be a very good starting tackle in the NFL.

As a pass blocker, Goosby is hard to get around due to his massive size and length. He shows the athleticism to slide his feet and get depth in his drop to cut off the edge from speed rushers. With quality quickness, Goosby can get to his spot and negate the speed rushers' ability to blow by him. With his mass, he is also tough to beat with a bull rush, as Goosby is a load for defensive ends to get moving backwards. Goosby has the talent to be an effective pass blocker.

In the ground game, Goosby is special. In the passing-driven game, there are many finesse left tackles that are good in pass protection but struggle to create any push or movement in the ground game. Goosby is a well-rounded blocker as he is reliable in pass protection, and an absolute bull in the ground game. At the point of attack, Goosby is a mauler that has the power to drive block and push his defender back. He can reset the line of scrimmage and create space for his back to run behind him. Goosby shows the strength to sustain blocks, and he will bury defenders with violence. Goosby is also good at crashing down on defensive tackles and sealing the backside for his back. Goosby looks like he will be a real asset as a run blocker in the pros.

Goosby has some things to improve upon for the NFL. He does a nice job of sustaining blocks with his length and strength; however, sometimes he lunges after defenders, and that can hurt his ability to sustain. He gets in trouble when his weight gets over his toes, so staying square will help him. Goosby can lumber some in space as he is not an elite athlete with great speed, so maintaining his body mechanics is necessary to being effective in space.

As a prospect, Goosby reminds this analyst of Andrew Thomas coming out of Georgia. Goosby has the potential to be a very good starting tackle in the NFL.
