Change Team:
This page lists all the 2024 Trades for the New York Giants. I’ve listed all of the NFL Free Agent Signing Grades here, which included the trades. Because I’ve begun posting polls for the trades, I thought it would make sense to list just the NFL trades here, so archiving the voting would be easier.

August 2024 – Trades and Signings

Cowboys acquire DT Jordan Phillips from Giants for swap of late-round picks
Two defensive linemen were traded on this day. The Falcons were the team that acquired the difference-maker, but don’t tell that to Jerry Jones, who wanted to obtain an upgrade in the interior of the defensive front.
The Cowboys were poor versus the run last year, so it would normally make sense for them to snag a nose tackle. Jordan Phillips, however, was anemic versus the run last year. He was able to generate some pressure on opposing quarterbacks, but wasn’t very impactful. He’s not going to move the needle at all for the Cowboys, but then again, switching sixth- and seventh-round picks isn’t consequential either. This seems fair for both sides.

March 2024 – Trades and Signings

Giants acquire DE/OLB Brian Burns from Panthers for 2024 2nd- and 5th-round picks
This is what you would call selling low. The Panthers had an offer for two first-round picks for Brian Burns in the past, but turned down the offer. Now, they’re shipping Burns out of town for second- and fifth-round choices. This absolutely cannot sit well with the fans.
The Giants are the winners of this deal, but I’m not even crazy about the trade for them. This seems like the sort of move a team on the verge of Super Bowl contention would make. The Giants are far away from that, and spending resources on Burns means that could make upgrading the offensive line more difficult. Granted, Burns is a huge upgrade to the pass rush, but I don’t think he’s going to get New York deep into the playoffs, at least not in the next year or two.
