Change Team:

This page lists all the 2024 Trades for the Denver Broncos. I’ve listed all of the NFL Free Agent Signing Grades here, which included the trades. Because I’ve begun posting polls for the trades, I thought it would make sense to list just the NFL trades here, so archiving the voting would be easier.

November 2024 – Trades and Signings

Cardinals acquire DE/OLB Baron Browning from Broncos for 6th-round pick
Following Arizona’s blowout loss to the Packers a few weeks ago, there was some suspicion that the team could be sellers at the trade deadline. Things have changed quickly, however, as Arizona’s recent victories have put the team in a position to win the NFC West. Arizona, at 5-4, is currently in first place.

I like this trade for the Cardinals. They had the third-worst pressure rate entering Week 9, so they had to bolster their pass rush. Baron Browning isn’t a great player by any means, but he can get after the quarterback somewhat decently. He had 4.5 sacks last year, so he’ll be able to help Arizona rattle opposing passers.

The Broncos are an odd team to be trading players, but they were so deep on the edge that Browning was playing only about a third of the snaps. They could afford to trade Browning, so it makes sense to pick up a resource, which Denver could trade for a position of need.

April 2024 – Trades and Signings

Broncos acquire QB Zach Wilson from Jets for swap of sixth- and seventh-round picks
It’s only been three years since the 2021 NFL draft, but every quarterback chosen in the first round excluding Trevor Lawrence has been traded. Trey Lance, Mac Jones and Justin Fields were all dealt previously, and now Zach Wilson joins the mostly lackluster group.

It has to be disappointing for the Jets that they couldn’t get anything better than a late-round pick swap for Wilson. Sure, Wilson looked dreadful for the most part, but he’s still young and has potential. He was put in bad situations with horrible blocking, so if he gets a chance with a superior offensive coaching staff and a talented front, it wouldn’t be shocking if he makes something of his career as a late bloomer, a la Geno Smith.

The Broncos definitely won this trade. They’re getting a young and talented, albeit very raw quarterback at a severe discount, and they’re not even footing the entire bill. The Jets will be paying half of Wilson’s salary, so the Broncos are barely risking anything with this trade.

March 2024 – Trades and Signings

Browns acquire WR Jerry Jeudy from Broncos for 2024 5th-, 6th-round picks
It’s no surprise that Jerry Jeudy was traded. Jeudy had some bright moments in Denver, particularly during the final month of the 2022 season, but was a big disappointment overall. He had issues with drops, while his effort was questioned at times. Denver has a natural replacement in Marvin Mims, who, according to Sean Payton, didn’t see much playing time as a rookie because he and Jeudy played the same position. Trading Jeudy unlocks Mims, so the Broncos aren’t losing much. Acquiring fifth- and sixth-round picks when they had no leverage is a fine move.

However, the Browns may have won this trade. They desperately needed a No. 2 receiver across from Amari Cooper, and Jeudy will provide that at a cheap price. There’s definitely a chance that Jeudy will continue to disappoint, but a new environment could be just what he needs. There’s still some untapped potential with him, so if he finally lives up to it, the Browns will have gotten a steal.

Grade for Browns – A-
