2025 NFL Draft Prospects: Quarterback

2/11/25: In 2024, Sanders completed 74 percent of his passes for 4,134 yards with 37 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He had four rushing touchdowns as well. Some team sources really like Sanders while others are more luke-warm.

6/11/24: Sanders was very good in 2023, completing 69 percent of his passes for 3,230 yards, 27 touchdowns and three interceptions. He had four rushing touchdowns as well. Multiple team sources said they saw Sanders as a potential first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

An area scout told WalterFootball.com:

He won’t wow with physical tools, …. But his arm is good enough, especially in the short and intermediary. Mentally, he can operate at incredible speed. He could be the most NFL ready as far as football I.Q.; he bleeds confidence and charisma. He’ll own a team immediately because of his competitiveness and obvious advantage having grown up in the rare NFL bubble. Pro ball will not scare him.

2/11/25: In 2024, Ward completed 67 percent of his passes for 4,313 yards with 39 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He had four rushing touchdowns as well. For the NFL, Ward looks like a potential starting quarterback. He has enough arm strength to stretch defenses vertically and can ad-lib his team into big plays. Ward has some running ability to buy time and hurt defenses with his ability to pick up yards on the ground. Like all college players, Ward has some things to work on for the NFL. He needs to get the ball out faster, as he has the habit of holding the ball too long. Ward puts a lot of pressure on his line by holding it for so long. Ward needs to speed up the process of reading defenses. Expanding his knowledge of coverages and fronts will help him to read faster.

6/11/24: Ward was a point machine over the past three seasons at Washington State, generating a prolific number of touchdowns. He broke out in 2021, completing 65 percent of his passes for 4,638 yards, 47 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. In 2022, Ward completed 64 percent of his passes for 3,231 yards with 23 touchdowns and nine interceptions. Ward then completed 67 percent of his passes in 2023 for 3,735 yards, 25 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. He also notched eight rushing touchdowns during 2023, which matched the total of his ground scores from the previous three seasons.

Ward flirted with transferring to Miami or Florida State before deciding to enter the 2024 NFL Draft. He then backed out in time to complete his transfer to the Hurricanes.

2/11/25: In 2024, Dart completed 69 percent of his passes for 4,279 yards with 29 touchdowns and six interceptions. Team sources feel that Dart is instinctive, tough, and competitive. They worry about his pocket presence and being reckless with the ball. They feel he should have thrown more, was fortunate he does no have a larger interception total, and has issues with fumbles. Some compare Dart to Gardner Minshew.

In 2023, Dart had a quality season, completing 65.1 percent of his passes for 3,364 yards with 23 touchdowns and five interceptions. The previous season, Dart completed 62 percent of his passes for 2,974 yards with 20 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. In 2021, Dart had three starts with USC and appeared in six games.

2/11/25: In 2024, Ewers completed 66 percent of his passes for 3,472 yards with 31 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Ewers was superb in leading Texas to a road win over Michigan. He had mixed outings against Georgia and Vanderbilt.

6/11/24: In 2023, Ewers completed 69 percent of his passes for 3,479 yards, 22 touchdowns and six interceptions. He flashed some big-time potential for Texas in 2022. That season, he completed 58 percent of his passes in 2022 for 2,177 yards, 15 touchdowns and six interceptions. While Ewers needs to get more consistent, he has a big arm and serious passing talent.

2/11/25: In 2024, Milroe completed 64 percent of his passes for 2,844 yards with 16 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He had 20 rushing touchdowns as well. Milroe is a dangerous runner with speed and toughness. As a passer, Milroe shows real potential with a powerful arm, and he can throw the ball accurately deep downfield. Milroe’s deep ball is very good, and that is the pass that he throws the best. He is also a dangerous running threat who can rip a defense with his legs. Milroe needs to improve his ability to read coverage, his knowledge of defenses, his communication, and develop his football I.Q. He also needs to get more accurate as a passer in the short to intermediate part of the field, and improve his pocket presence. Milroe is a hard worker and a good kid who is putting in a lot of time to get better. Team sources say Milroe hurt his draft grade at the Senior Bowl as he struggled in practice.

6/11/24: Milroe has an excellent skill set with a good arm, a strong build, and dangerous running ability. During 2023, his first season as a starter, Milroe improved over the course of the year. He completed 66 percent of his passes for 2,834 yards with 23 touchdowns and six interceptions. He also ran for 531 yards and 12 touchdowns. Milroe made a lot of clutch plays to get Alabama past Georgia in the SEC Championship and into the college football playoff.

Milroe needs to improve his ability to read coverage, his knowledge of defenses, his communication, and his football I.Q. He is a hard worker and a good kid who is putting in a lot of time to getting better.

2/11/25: In 2024, Howard completed 73 percent of his passes for 3,779 yards with 33 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

6/11/24: After the 2023 season, Howard decided to enter the transfer portal and left Kansas State for the Buckeyes. During the 2023 season, scouts were watching Howard in case he decided to enter the draft, and multiple NFL team sources said Howard helped himself over 2023. They thought he could be a potential third-day pick if he had entered the 2024 NFL Draft and a backup quarterback candidate for the next level.

Those sources called Howard a physically impressive prospect with a good frame, above-average arm, and exceptional makeup. They noted he is a gritty guy with athleticism and good football I.Q. In 2023, Howard completed 61 percent of his passes for 2,643 yards, 24 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He notched nine touchdowns on the ground as well.

2/11/25: In 2024, Leonard completed 66 percent of his passes for 2,606 yards with 19 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He has done more damage on the ground with 13 rushing touchdowns. Leonard didn’t play well in Notre Dame’s embarrassing loss to Northern Illinois. Leonard has been more effective as a runner, with yardage on the ground and four rushing touchdowns.

6/11/24: Leonard has good size to him and arm talent. He broke out in 2022, completing 64 percent of his passes for 2,967 yards, 20 touchdowns and six interceptions. In 2023, Leonard completed 58 percent of his passes for 1,102 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions. He also had four rushing touchdowns. Leonard missed a game with a leg injury suffered at the end of the loss to Notre Dame. He came back for two more games before exiting the lineup again. Leonard went out for the year in late October. After the season, he announced he was entering the transfer portal.

Leonard played well at times during 2023, but his performance against Notre Dame illustrated that he needs more development in terms of accuracy while getting rushed and staying poised under pressure. He was wise to transfer to Notre Dame from Duke to continue developing before going pro

2/11/25: In 2024, Gabriel completed 73 percent of his passes for 3,857 yards with 30 touchdowns and six interceptions. He had six rushing touchdowns as well.

6/11/24: Gabriel had a solid season for Oklahoma in 2023, completing 69 percent of his passes for 3,660 yards, 30 touchdowns and six interceptions. It was an improvement over the previous season, when he completed 63 percent of his passes for 3,168 yards, 25 touchdowns and six interceptions. After the 2023 season, Gabriel left the Sooners to transfer to Oregon.

2/11/25: Shough completed 63 percent of his passes for 3,195 yards with 23 touchdowns and six interceptions.

6/11/24: At Texas Tech, Shough completed 60 percent of his passes in 2023 for 746 yards, seven touchdowns and four interceptions. He didn’t play after Week 4 due to injury. Shough entered the transfer portal for 2024. Shough is a big quarterback with arm talent, but he has had a very hard time staying on the field. He flashed for Oregon early in his career, and in 2020, it looked like he had pro potential, but he has never stayed on the field and produced well enough.

2/11/25: McCord had an excellent final season in college football, completing 66 percent of his passes for 4,779 yards with 34 touchdowns passing, 12 interceptions, and three rushing touchdowns. McCord started out his collegiate career at Ohio State and played with the Buckeyes for three seasons. McCord has some passing ability and could become a solid backup at the pro level.

2/11/25: Over his career, Henigan was an efficient point producer who was very consistent. In 2024, Henigan completed 65 percent of his passes for 3,502 yards with 25 touchdowns and six interceptions. He completed 67 percent of his passes for 3,883 yards with 32 touchdowns and nine interceptions in 2023. Henigan has backup potential.

2/11/25: Jefferson has completed 59 percent of his passes for 1,012 yards with seven touchdowns and four interceptions.

6/11/24: At Arkansas, Jefferson completed 64 percent of his passes in 2023 for 2,107 yards, 19 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. He added two rushing touchdowns as well. Jefferson did not show significant development and improvement as a pocket passer. He decided to enter the transfer portal after the season.

In 2022 and 2021, Jefferson played better for the Razorbacks and flashed some ability. Jefferson completed 68 percent of his passes in 2022 for 2,648 yards, 24 touchdowns and five interceptions. On the ground, he ran for 640 yards and nine touchdowns. Jefferson broke out for the Razorbacks in 2021, displaying impressive dual-threat ability. He completed 67 percent of his passes for 2,676 yards, 21 touchdowns and four interceptions. He also had 664 yards and six touchdowns on the ground.

2/11/25: Huff has been a solid quarterback over a six-year college career. In 2024, he has completed 60 percent of his passes for 2,003 yards with 11 touchdowns and six interceptions. Huff has a quality arm and passing ability. He could be a late-round candidate or undrafted free agent who is worth signing for backup competition.

2/11/25: Watkins flashed a strong arm at Villanova in 2024 completing 52 percent of his passes for 2,102 yards with 13 touchdowns and five interceptions. In 2023 he completed 57 percent of his passes for 2,681 yards with 20 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Sources say that Watkins threw the ball well and was impressive at the CGS All-Star Game in Dallas in January.

2/11/25: Brown has completed 59 percent of his passes for 836 yards with two touchdowns. In 2023, Brown completed 65 percent of his passes for 3,292 yards with 26 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. 9/3/24: Brown completed 13-of-20 passes for 152 yards in USF’s win over Bethune-Cookman. In 2023, Brown completed 65 percent of his passes for 3,292 yards with 26 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

2/11/25: In 2024, Rising completed 51 percent of his passes for 555 yards with seven touchdowns and zero interceptions. He has missed time with injuries again. Rising was a good college player but is incapable of staying healthy.

6/11/24: Rising missed the 2023 season with injury. Rising was a tough competitor for Utah in 2022, completing 65 percent of his passes for 3,034 yards, 26 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. He also ran for 465 yards and six touchdowns. Rising completed 64 percent of his passes in 2021 for 2,493 yards with 20 touchdowns and five interceptions. On the ground, he picked up 499 yards and six scores. Rising may end up as a backup-caliber prospect for the next level.

2/11/25: Mertz completed 77 passes for 791 yards with six touchdowns and two interceptions before suffering a season-ending ACL tear.

6/11/24: A former five-star recruit, Mertz was a tough competitor and played well given some difficult circumstances in 2023, his first season with the Gators. He showed excellent accuracy in the short to intermediate part of the field, completing 73 percent of his passes for 2,903 yards, 20 touchdowns and three interceptions. He also notched four rushing touchdowns.

Before landing in Gainesville, Mertz had some underwhelming seasons with Wisconsin. He could be a riser for the 2025 NFL Draft, but he needs help in terms of better play from his offensive line and wide receivers.

2/11/25: Uiagalelei completed 54 percent of his passes for 1,065 yards with four touchdowns and six interceptions. He was injured in late September and was done for the season.

6/11/24: In 2023, Uiagalelei completed 57 percent of his passes for 2,638 yards, 21 touchdowns and seven interceptions with Oregon State. He entered the transfer portal after the season. Uiagalelei looked like he had NFL potential when he played well as Trevor Lawrence’s backup at Clemson in 2020. However, Uiagalelei never developed consistency in 2021. While he was better for the Tigers in 2022, he struggled in some critical moments, which led to him departing the program.

Uiagalelei has physical talent, but he needs a big jump in play to become a viable pro prospect.
