Prospect Summary:
With Bryce Young moving on to the NFL, Milroe won the starting quarterback spot at Alabama in 2023. In his debut season, Milroe completed 66 percent of his passes for 2,834 yards with 23 touchdowns and six interceptions. He also ran for 531 yards and 12 touchdowns. Milroe made a lot of clutch plays to get Alabama past Georgia in the SEC Championship and into the college football playoff. In 2024, Milroe completed 64 percent of his passes for 2,844 yards with 16 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He had 20 rushing touchdowns as well. After the season, Milroe struggled in the Senior Bowl practices, and team sources say he hurt his draft grade with his performance in Mobile.
For the NFL, Milroe is a project that needs a lot of work to become a consistent passer. Milroe struggles with his accuracy throwing in the short to intermediate part of the field. His field vision and recognition of coverage need a lot of development as he is very raw in these aspects of the position. Milroe needs to get more comfortable throwing check-downs, improve his pocket presence, and work off his primary read. He has to get faster at recognizing coverage and working through his progressions. Milroe is going to have to get more functional and comfortable running a passing offense from the pocket. As a passer, Milroe needs a lot of development.
On the positive side, Milroe shows potential as a passer as he has a strong arm that is capable of burning defenses deep down the field. Milroe throws a good deep ball, showing nice placement and loft on his passes to lead receivers for more yardage. Milroe’s biggest strength for the NFL is his running ability. He is extremely fast in a straight line, and when he takes off running, Milroe is a threat to rip off big yardage and score. He has a strong build and is dangerous in the red zone to finish drives with his legs. Milroe is a good kid who is a hard worker and willing to put in extra time to learn. He has good intangibles of leadership and work ethic. If Milroe does not turn into a pro starter, it won’t be from a lack of effort or hard work.
In the 2025 NFL Draft, Milroe looks like a potential day-two or mid-round pick. He has the skill set to be a starter in the NFL, but he is a massive developmental project that needs a lot of coaching and grooming to become a reliable passer at the pro level.
Prospect Comparison:
Antony Richardson. In terms of style of play, the closest thing to Milroe starting in the NFL is Richardson. Both are strong quarterbacks that are dangerous runners but really struggle with consistency as pocket passers and throwing the ball accurately. If Milroe starts in the NFL, he could be a similar style quarterback to Richardson. Just like Richardson, Milroe should have gone back to school to improve as a passer before going to the NFL.
